The First Step To Improving Your Mentality In Smash
We use our character’s tools so that one person may gain control over the other. Sometimes we have to go a bit deeper, and focus on how players gain mental control over themselves. In any competitive activity, your mentality is a big deciding factor on your skill and overall improvement as a whole. While we may not be able to change your mentality completely, we can at least describe a mentality that everyone should aspire to.

Learn the Matchup: Simon and Richter Belmont
Просмотров 9 тыс.3 года назад
Simon and Richter Belmont are members of the Belmont clan, a family of vampire hunters who strike down Dracula during each of his reincarnations. In their respective series, they do this by using their trusty whip and items to dodge and weave around their opponent, while also striking them from a distance. This style of play is faithfully recreated in Super Smash Brothers Ultimate, for better a...
Improving Your Neutral in SSBU: Decision Making

In Super Smash Bros Ultimate, consistency is a defining trait of a good player. If you can beat a large majority of people and experience a very small amount of losses, then odds are you are very good. However, achieving that state is something that's very hard, we may be able to win once, but what about multiple times? We at YSAN will unpack one piece of that puzzle. Written by Brian Ding and ...
Improving Your Neutral in SSBU: The Mindgame

In a boxing match, both competitors have to box, you can't use your elbows and you can't use your legs, the matchup is boxer vs. boxer. Similarly, in a fencing match, you're using the same same type of weapon, you can't use a machete, and you definitely can't use a gun, the matchup is fencer vs fencer. But in fighting games, there are a wide variety of matchups, some characters use their fists,...
Improving Your Neutral in SSBU: The Neutral Triangle

The phrase "Neutral Game" is used a lot in the competitive Super Smash Bros Ultimate scene. If you want to be a top player in the game, you must be good at the Neutral Game. What IS the Neutral Game? Why is it important? And more importantly, what makes a good neutral game? Although we may not be able to explain all of the intricacies of Neutral in one video, we can at least explain one of its ...

What if you could change your type mid match? Dude predicted Terastalization.
I think this is really important for not just competition, but ANYTHING you want to improve at. No one becomes a legend in a day!
1:29 what da cat doin
I get so angry when I lose to bad players because I'm in it to have fun, and I play the way is my expression of that. I don't mind losing sometimes, but losing over and over and over again to the same type of player is frustrating. So you know what? I actually played scissors! I got better at the game! And now I'm having even less fun because in order to win I have to play a way that isn't fun! This game is a pile of dog shit!
ORRRRR you might be losing because smash ultimate is just not a good game in general
what's the song used here 2:18
Neutral in the way most people use it: fighting you opponent (on stage) Disadvantage as most people use it: recovering (or just getting comboed) 😂🎉
I really wish this series had continued, it's so helpful.
My Kirby is titties good... but I want to learn everyone so instinctively I played mario... and Holy shit my Mario is bad... I've won maybe 5 games out of 100 over the past week... no clue what I'm doing wrong
I’ve been stuck in 2mil for months please help me I’m awful
The solution: grind level 9s instead
DSP would hate this video u til you mentioned flowchsrt play, then he would say this is the best vudeo ever
so, what ive learned is... spam and then change your types of spam when a counter is found to your spam. "uhm, actually, he stated how a flow chart works" yes, and i explained what he did, do the same shit over and over until a counter is found, then add that to the same shit over and over, rinse and repeat. basically, dont play the game the intended way to win, but play with the idea of doing stuff over and over until its vulnerable, fix that, and repeat.
Erm actually this is called footsies
Whenever I play as a character online, after I do a move, I have to wait for literally an entire second before being able to do anything else again, no matter what character. I’m trying to 100% smash ultimate and I only have the worst challenges in the entire game (and probably series), the online challenges, which are near impossible for me because everyone playing now has probably been playing for 4/5 their entire lives, and I JUST started playing again. I now hate Nintendo and I now think that this is one of the worst games to 100% on the switch, no exceptions. Please help.
I hate smash I literally freak out and stress myself off, I literally got to 7 something in gsp and I started calling people clowns because then it went all the way down to 4 something because I kept losing to a bunch of players But I love it sometimes, I currently stopped cloud at a gsp of 5 smth, and I'm working on corrins and pits right now lol, sometimes I'm freaking out, and sometimes I'm just calmly playing like I wasnt freaking out the day before
Dude this is exactly what I go through. I've peaked at 12.9 mil with Shulk and I get so angry when I play another Sephiroth who spams counter, or DDD who corner camps, or Luigi who spams grab.
@@SeriousMcnegative Im so used to people who edge guard that ive become a master at reflecting well these people tryna get an easy win 😿. I got corrin up to 11 mil and right now im fighting for 8 mil rip, I cant stand people who rage quit because whenever I win thats what happens, but when other people win I just sit there and watch them get points, like I wanted to rage quit so many times but never did
This is a really good video. It breaks down the concepts of game sense in a relatable way.
So my bother plays Ganon and usually approaches with down b and other overshooting options. How should i use poking to beat it, especially considering it beats a lot of weaker moves?
After he crosses your shield run up and grab him
Also who do you play?
What's wayyy more frustrating than losing is the amount of lag in online and when the game randomly disconnects you and then acts like you disconnected and gives you a disconnect timer when it was someone else who lagged out. I can go from playing 5 matches smoothly to 1 match playing at 5 frames per second cause my opponent is lagging the game.
This is the best video on feeling with the Belmonts that I've seen. Thanks.
Hah alright bro. So what are you gonna do when a fucking Steve comes up in your lobby, and does nothing but disrespect you. And every single game you play. Is that fucking Steve. Every game. And you loose, every game. Don’t act like smash bros doesn’t have sbmm like warzone do, cuz it does.
Idk man, it feels like everyone else is just better than me :/
This is an amazing video, I improved my gameplay a lot and became better at the game after understanding this
I'm teaching coworkers to play beyond button mashing. This really helped!
Amazing video!!!
Bro I got so angry bc of losing 24/7 that I literally never play online anymore because of how stupidly good people are and whatever I do never works, like when I find a really good combo and for some reason the person dodges it. I freaking hate it
The reason why I'm losing is input lag. Like it feels like it's delayed by one to two seconds instead of like six to seven milliseconds.
I've had 4-5 second input delays before. It's nuts.
i just played against a ridley on the pac-man side scrolling map and all he did was spam, i’m losing it
Did you just predict tera with your Pokémon analogy???
I liked the video, but I´m not clicking that like button because it is a funny number
I played super smash bros brawl when I was younger, then the Wii U version and now ultimate, I only started playing against higher cpus on switch. Each game is close I beat a lvl 8 by 2 and tried my first online match when I had a membership at the time. When I faced my opponent I got destroyed, and lost all confidence, because I really wanted to be good at the game. Until I found a new game at the time that was still in development before its release. That game is Multiversus, a Warner bros character based game which I like a lot more than smash cuz of the dodging mechanic is way easier to grasp and I liked the characters more. Only problem with multiversus at the time was it had some lack luster stuff in it. Long story short, I’m way better at multiversus facing real people than I am with smash bros ultimate. As multiversus returns, I can’t wait to play again and play as my favorite characters and hopefully become the great gamer I’ve always wanted to be. If you feel like you cant get better at one game try one that suits you better
this visdeo did not explain how to deal with spammers
I understand there needed to be an example to base the video around, but it frustrates me to see that all anyone ever thought of samus was as a spam character. coming from a standpoint of having mained multiple of these "spam characters", like varia suit Samus and Ike, it annoys me to hear because I always try to use as many different attacks as possible as mix ups and it lead to greater versatility. I always made sure to not spam because it lead to much worse gameplay, but because of how some twelve year old kid plays their games I'll still end up being called a spammer whenever someone asks me who I play. The characters don't spam, its who plays them, don't immediately assume they spam.
Do you plan on continuing to make these? Theyre a great resource.
MkLeo seems like such a nice guy
Flow charts are exactly how i get good at this game. My chart just gets bigger and more complicated as I learn. If its complex enough, isnt that the same as decision making? this is also the reason I will never be very good
You're using the term "read" when what you really mean is "guess." And yes, a "read" is a sort of guess--but it's not completely random. Players who are better at the psychological aspect of smash have a MUCH higher percentage of success making reads than if they were pure luck. This is because these players are "in the head" of the other player, and intuitively recognize (or "read") what the other player wants to do. In fact, some players' style is fundamentally based off of reads. Skyjay is a great example of this. Mkleo is also very good at reading his opponents. An example of a player who is NOT good at making reads is Tweek. He has absolutely amazing technical skills and his movement is as smooth as butter. But his reads SUCK. In fact, he's so bad at making reads that his success % on them is WORSE than if he flipped a coin. If you have the ability to figure out your opponent and capitalize on your intuitions, you definitely should, and many times players have won games (and entire tournaments) because they went for a read at the right moment instead of playing it safe with the risk/reward.
Smash online sucks, when I play 1v1 I always lose with low gsp players and I still lose like 12/2 match and also when I play on team match I always get that noob player, so unlucky, and always die first, I really don't want to play anymore, japanese players are always annoying.
I can literally Molly wop my brother out of existence but HE GETS SO LUCKY when I fall into every one of his move, while none of mine are hitting
Me when I don’t realize he made careful planning:
i think maybe you shouldnt corner yourself in ssbu. Its smash fundies. Sure your matchup videos definately should be mainly about ult but everything in this video also applies to Melee and other platform fighters. Actually this video applies to all fighting games but you get the idea.
Ive always wondered why I felt like I haven't been playing the game. THANKS
Maybe games to hard and cheap
This didnt help at all, i still suck at this game lol
I stopped playing SSBU online. I swear an god the emotions you feel after your done playing is absolutely horrible and honestly can't anymore; let's not forget about teabaggers
I will tell u why I'm losing its because I'm shit at the game and it keeps putting me with fucking high ass fuck Gsp players
Fr
Man, this game is so frustrating for me. I’ve always played pretty casually on my friend’s console, but I’ve never had my own Switch until about a week ago. I’ve been trying to play Smash pretty casually, but the problem is that I get destroyed literally EVERY. Single. Match… I wish there were some sort of matchmaking system (maybe there is and I’m just unaware), but I’m talking about literally going on 20 game losing streaks. Pretty infuriating because I just want to play casually but maybe win at least 1/5 games. Instead, I get destroyed again and again to the point where the game isn’t even fun.
I know this is late, but try to rematch everyone you lose to. You can learn their habits and how they play the character and the you can build a gameplan against that character
Oh... I don't even bother playing online, even when I *did* have Switch Online. I just play against CPU's, level 7's to be exact. Even then, *some* characters are extremely annoying to fight (Ness, sometimes wario, and Robin is easily one of the worst.) I should probably mention that I main Mewtwo.
Projectile spam+lag=hell
You Suck at Neutral is teaching us how to not Suck at Neatral. Yay.
The problem is "reactive play" (Rock) is too strong and "over-shooting" (Paper) is too weak in Ultimate. This creates a Rock-based metagame, where Paper is only useful as an unpredictable high-risk mixup. It's much safer to play Rock, with the occasional Scissors to invalidate Paper. Most competitive players use 60% Rock (reactive play/whiff punishes), 30% Scissors (pokes) and 10% Paper (aggressive over-shooting)... and this is what we call balance. 🙃
With Hero you can probably lose to someone that's worse than you since he relies entirely on luck and is overall kinda bad
Not if ur using villager
