Thank you Real Tennis for all the great matches over the years. Hope to see more one day
you guys look like nurses in those carhartt tees lol
keep fighting :)
This match exemplifies how someone with no advantage over you in any aspect of the game can win you a set with a 6-1 score.
i will miss this channel alot. love MEP alot.
Watching after all the MEP matches … this is waaaay more fun to watch
Ari appeared for the sponsors but disappears when the match is on. 😅
I'm so sad this is it for the channel, but it was a great way to go out. Thanks to everyone who was part of the RT team.
"Top 15" lol. What a perfect final match. Thank you REAL TENNIS for helping get me back in the game after 25 years! You guys rock, all the best!
Going to miss your content 😢
MEP's 2 HBH is defensive, he doesn't really drive it. I think that's why Chris mentioned attacking there. Because getting passed on a high, loopy ball is unlikely against Ben. But MEP does adapt, and make things difficult regardless.
I'm reminded that Chris was/is a bodybuilder. As his movement declined due to tightness in the legs, he needed his upper-body to really hit the ball heavy. Ian has been such a great guy. Not sure how much Chris really takes from this - Ben is not young, and he played so much. Can't believe MEP hung in, honestly. Chris is such a nice guy though. Super-funny. MEP is so scary, you really are going to try to play safe. He needs a promoter, because it's fascinating to watch him compete. And a coach would limit him to playing at his best, only.
Gonna miss this channel, very informative and entertaining. Too bad the dollars don’t work out. Congrats to all who made this such a fun communal experience for the amateur tennis freaks out here. Bravo! Maybe a rebirth in a less expensive form will happen someday
Sad to hear. You guys have been inspirational. All the best.
What a fun and entertaining match to watch! I will sorely miss the RT channel as you guys have put together some really fun and great matches over the years. Thank you Ian, Mark, Scott, and everyone else that was involved with RT! As others have stated, it was great to watch tennis matches that were far more relatable than what we'd usually watch on TV.
Battle of the lefties didn't disappoint.
Chris is nuts. Did he just say that it was really fun? That’s a different kind of crazy. Great perseverance in getting the win.
Thanks for all the hard work you all have put into it for us viewers over the last 2/3 years. I am sure I can speak for all the others, we have enjoyed watching the matches on the channel immensely. I would be lying if I said I won't miss seeing you guys. Wish you the best for the future and hope to see you here again in the future.
Wow, that was a great display of mental toughness and physical stamina.
Good game!
How long was this in real time?
I appreciate pro level tennis, but in my opinion "Tennis at very high or pro level" does not have a monopoly in terms of the greatness of matches. Over the years I have watched some pro level tennis with less interesting matches and also some high level or other level matches such as this at 4.5+ NTRP that are really fun to watch. I appreciate the determination of both Chris and Ben to compete under such exhausting conditions and this was just a great match for me to watch. To me it does not matter how hard one hits a forehand or a serve, but how one competes. Honestly this makes me want to go out there and play some senior or other events if my continuing gout flare-ups ever allows me. Well done Ian and team for all you did and do for tennis. -AB
how do we follow Ben on UTR?
Awesome match and great players with good attitudes. It's great how MEP became Ben. He's not the nemesis of amateur tennis, he has a legitimate strategy, executes it incredibly well and seems to be a genuine good guy.0 That being said, in the first set he did show that he is actively working on his game. With those tools he'll be crushing egos for years to come 😂
Great stuff lads.
Excellent fight. Thank you Ian for several years of excellent tennis matches.
Thank you to all RT people who made this happen. This was so relatable for us weekend warriors who won't ever get beyond a 4.5 level, and the commentary and production was what made this channel's watchability even greater than ATP tennis a lot of the time. I'm so sorry the economics didn't work out, but please know you made my life better for what you've done. So enjoyed this!
You could tell Chris has a lot of respect for Ben and really enjoyed playing against him. MEP remained classy as always, I'm going to miss this content.
I'm going to miss these matches. It was well worth the $3 a month.
Thanks guys!
Really appreciate everyone involved! Love watching Real Tennis and will miss it tremendously ❤❤❤
As always, awesome match. I will miss this soooooo much. Ian, you’re amazing!!!
Gracias por tanto .. se les extrañará. Felices fiestas, ojalá sea un hasta pronto.
What a great match to end on. Respect to both players. Seemed to me like after that first set Chris both loosened up but also figured out the rhythm of MEP. First time I've seen someone fight MEP fire-with-fire style almost. Thanks for all the great matches on the channel! Best wishes in the New Year to everyone who made all of this possible!
Thank you all so, so, so much for the ride. This was a grueling, dramatic match to end off on for now. Love this channel and every bit of effort you all poured into it.
I get that u can't continue this content profitably but just wanted to say what other have: that there are fan out there that watch all 3 episodes till the end and enjoy every second. I'll miss this...
Tbh, I lost interest when it wasn’t Ian, mark, Ira or Scott commentating.
How does Chris not have a backhand?
Great way to go out. They really battled it out, inspiring stuff from both of them.
I can’t understand why no one has taken the time to coach up the right stroke techniques for the guy in the green shirt? Does he have no friends? 🤔
Wow, what an incredible match! Crazy impressed and inspired to see what MEP has done with his game - the willingness to come out of his comfort zone and move forward like that. I can only imagine how much harder that makes him to beat. And I’m sure it doesn’t hurt his doubles game either:). Hope he keeps it up. As for Chris, what grit, determination, fierce competitiveness, and desire to win! He battled himself and his opponent. He beat MEP the hardest imaginable way….by out grinding him. So refreshing to see both competitors test their physical and mental willpower at this level. And both showed so much class and sportsmanship! Very memorable last match on RT. Thanks for all of your efforts and wishing you all the best moving forward.
Great grindy match. Congrats to Chris. Maybe Ian will keep the channel up-I must might go back and watch some earlier matches. The upside of an old and poor memory is I don't remember who won most of the matches!
A very fitting match to finish on. Thanks to all the people involved for making this happen ❤
Lesson: develop an overhead, or get really, really fit. If either guy had a working overhead on a non-trivial ball, they could have finished so many more points.
Ben: Aces 0, Winners 1, Forced Errors 2, Unforced Errors 16, Double faults 0 Chris: Aces 0, Winners 11, Forced Errors 2, Unforced Errors 14, Doubles faults 0
I feel like Chris is always moving backwards on his FH.
RIP Real Tennis
I love the sportsmanship and positivity from these two. Great match!
Great battle 👏 It’s the end of an era, bummer there won’t be more matches on this channel. Many thanks to Ian, his team and all the players for putting on great shows the past few years 🙏
Great match guys!
