When you are washing a fence (vinyl or wood); 1) How much are you charging for a complete panel? and 2) How much are you charging for only stripes of a fence (where there are openings in-between..."horizontal")?
@@SP-mg3li hey man!! I actually price by square footage, and it varies with different styles. I charge $0.10/square foot on Vinyl fencing, and $0.20-$0.25/ square foot on unstained wood.. So a 10x6 panel would be $6 for vinyl each side, and $12 for outside wood $15 for inside wood. The inside takes longer because of the 2x4 and 4x4 frame. The cattle style fencing I would probably be around $0.15-$0.20.
Question, where did you find the 3 tip j rod holder. Like your m5 and xjet combo but can't seem to find a 3 port j rod anywhere?
I actually broke one of the ports off when putting my Jord together.. it has been great as a 3 nozzle though 👍
Pro tip on wood... You will get the result you are looking for if you hit it with oxcilic acid afterwards. Congrats on the upgrade BTW!!

Finally! I started around the same time as you and bought my 8gpm a year later. I swear you're going to shake your head as soon as you start rinsing with it! I'm a thorough rinser and my time is cut in half. I have a helper now and he soaps with the 4gpm while I rinse and we've doubled our production as long as we logistically plan our days accordingly. I'm proud of you

Thanks man!! The hard work has definitely been paying off this year, but hopefully the 8 will make it a bit easier!! Happy thanksgiving man!!
How do you handle a client when you did undercharge; because you were just starting out and not knowing what to charge, and later figured out their house gutter cleaning should have been about $150+ more than what you charged and they are expecting you to come out again and clean them?
Great question!! So when I started out I definitely undercharged several clients when I first started. I so far have maintained the original price quoted when they call back. On average it costs me about $45 in marketing in order to obtain a new client. You can easily justify that much of the shortage. I have definitely pushed for referrals while at the job the 2nd time, and don't forget your 5 arounds! Being seen in the neighborhood, and having a neighbors referral is gold!! I would say every 2-3 years raise your price, and try to recoup some of the difference, but if you can turn the returning customer into 2-3 referrals. You'll make it back on the new business easily. As long as you know how much to charge now for the new clients, just keep taking care of the people who are coming back year after year!
3 to 4 percent (max) would be from an xjet from 10.5% I run a 5gpm 3000psi unit as well as a 4gpm 4200psi backup, the differences in strength are almost .5 to 1 percent more. Downstream injector usually pull in 10 to 1 so I mean you're looking at around 1.4% on the 5 gallon a minute machinel....4gpm probably at 1.9 to 2% Max but highly unlikely. DS injector pretty much all ive ever needed for housrwashes and post treatments. For concrete or very dirty jobs i will run the xjet. I made sure years ago i do test runs and log my data on the injectors so i know what i pull almost to the tenth of percentage. Dillution is the solution....pre wet all plants and grass ...during and after...very hard to kill things by doing pre during and after (unless its an orchid ...they die when you look at them lol!!) I've been cleaning windows for just about 21 years now and pressure cleaning for about six or seven now. still learn something new everyday.
Sounds like you're a master of your craft! Love to hear you've done your homework!
@@steppspressurewashing I agree with your points in the video. I do not care for the gurus and salesmen you see in these trades....industry is dominated by them with bad information.

What do you do for water reclamation? Does it matter in your state/county
Thankfully we don't have to reclaim the water in NC!
Great information. Thanks! What length pole did you get? 20'. 24'. 30'? What length pole do you feel is appropriate for cleaning 2nd and possibly 3rd floor residential windows? Thanks in advance.
I have the 24, and I have only used it on one job... Window cleaning hot put on the back burner. I was able to reach pretty far with this one
How do you like having that large vertical tank? Does the water slosh around?
I love it!! I haul it with at most 10 gallons in it, never full! The bypass is wonderful! I have never had issues with feeding on my Direct Drive with this yet! It's been about 10 months of continual use!
@ you haul water in it? Does it ever slosh out from driving ? I just bought 2 large vertical tanks for my trailer to haul SH and surfactant
@@Thetruthhurtstrump2024 never had water slosh around because I only carry about 10 gallons or less. I do not use it for water transport

@ thank you much. Keep up the good work. Love the videos
@steppspressurewashing, I would paint those boards on your trailer so it will last longer... (I'd use a bed liner... That's what we did with our enclosed trailer... Used Herculiner)
Thanks for the tip! I actually put a few coatings of a secret family recipe for oiling wood... Herculiner might be better though!
@steppspressurewashing We gave ours a light sanding to remove the shine and knocked off the dust then applied the Herculiner.
@@SP-mg3li nice!! I'm a big fan of wood preservation, and I love the oil because I can add a little. Or a lot depending on how I feel. Also it's really cheap lol!!
@steppspressurewashing You should get either a tripod screen or a go pro so you don't have to hold your phone.
Yep, I'm planning on doing some time lapses with my tripod soon! I have a go pro, but haven t used in in almost 2 years... I will need to dig it out for some new vids!!
Where did you get your jacket? Is it SH resistant?
Here's a video I made about my uniform with links for everything ruclips.net/video/m1lKS2C56g4/видео.html The jacket is from queensbro, and it is SH resistant 👍
Liked the longer format! I am also in NC (Wilmington area). Do you continue washing until temps drop? Winterize your machine or do you usually keep in the garage?
Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed it!! I wash year round, but not below freezing. I have never winterized the pump, because I keep it in the garage where it can stay above freezing. Having winter gear helps a lot.. I didn't have proper gear my 1st winter, and it was brutal. You have to stay dry lol!!
Agreed! Love the longer format! So relaxing and satisfying. Keep it up!
Thanks for watching!! I'm glad you enjoyed the longer video! 😁
Regarding surfactant use. There is a RUclips channel called "House-wash Channel" or something like that, and he did a test on a wall with a spray bottle to show the effects and how much. The two striking things were how little you need and what it is actually doing. So you can use a lot less than the usual recommendations but you need to know that everyone is always talking about "sticking" to the wall but really the other term to add to your vocabulary is "breaking the surface tension" of the water. What that does is prevent the water from beading which in turn gives complete coverage for a better clean. Think about what is happening with the bleach if it immediately beads up with the water droplets and pulls away from other areas. How can it clean everything efficiently if it is sitting on just portions of the wall? With the surfactant it sits on top of the entire surface. That must be better IMHO.
Quick question did you buy a 3 way JRod or did you cut a 4 way? Could t find a 3way
Amazon used to sell the 3 way j rod holder, but now the link wont work.. I actually broke my 4 nozzle by putting too much force on it... It was supposed to have a shooter tip as well... The 3 way has been perfect though! You could probably just cut the weld on a 4 to make it a 3
Always use Elemonator especially on chilly days helps hold the chem to the house. When it's colder I also run a 1.8 injector. Switching to a new softwash system hopefully over the weekend and I'll send you a video when completed.
@@jerrymeyers2075 nice!! What Ratio do you pull with the 1.8? I look forward to seeing what your new setup is!!
It's a long Video, and a quick wash to start my day. Y'all be safe out there!
Do you charge a different price for a gutter clean out and gutter guard clean off? Thank you 😊
Yeah, it takes considerably lesstime to do clean offs than clean outs. So I generally charge less. I also do maintenance plans that include guard repair, and thats a bit more than standard clean offs.
What do you say to people when you tell them you have to use their water, and how do they usually react? Do you have to explain to them how inexpensive water actually is? I have a screenshot on my phone of the water rates in the area to show them if they have a problem with it.
@@Chris-bl2fe hey Chris, so this is a question that I get every month or so. Most of my clients are expecting me to use their water, but for those tat ask i usually say our industry standard is to use the water available onsite, and there would be an extra charge for water delivery. I then explain that the difference in the water bill will be less than $10 usually. Having a screenshot would help though
@steppspressurewashing thanks for the info and all you do to help others👍
I'm haapy to help!! Thanks for watching!! 😁👍
You learn and move forward. Identifying what worked and what can work better for the future.
Bingo!!
How much SH do you go through on a house like this?
@@Lutriix about 2 gallons of SH for this size. Approximately 1400sqft
I understand that sodium metasilicate is always the best chemical to use when wood is involved. Following up with oxalic acid like you did. I'd like to know your opinion on that.
Hey, so funny story... I actually use Sodium Metasilicate as my primary wood cleaner. When I was washing the non wood siding on this one earlier in the spring I got some runoff of my house wash mix on the wood, and it came out great. I then washed a small section of the house with house wash mix, followed by oxalic to brighten and balance the PH of the wood. It came out great, so I did the entire back of the house like this. Here's the video where I did a small section earlier in the year ruclips.net/video/9BaZfFMJzh8/видео.html
Thanks for your channel. You provide useful information without any of the BS. There are too many pressure washing channels out there that are causing financial hardships for newbies by providing fake information. Keep doing what you're doing!
Thank you for watching!! I also appreciate the compliment! I try to balance my BS with useful information lol!! I hope you are having a good weekend!!
I agree with all 5 of those points and practice those daily myself and win out on many jobs from that even though I’m not the cheapest. I believe having proper signage on your truck and or trailer also really helps your image along with other things.
@@williamcooper3176 that's awesome!! Yeah, signage on your truck/trailer is a no brainer imo. It is semi permanent advertising, and relatively inexpensive compared to the return! Thanks for watching William!!
I appreciate the content and advice you provide; down to earth, practical, honest, and relatable. I just purged my RUclips subscriptions of the pressure washing channels that talk a big game, but seem to be glorified software salesmen with fake subscription counts.

Thanks Chris!! I love how white painted rails look after a bit of house wash mix!! Lol!!
Otherwise called Retained Earnings
Yep!! 👍👍
Do you ever have people call you back for grass or plant damage? Or has using ~ 1% mix and pre and post rinsing really been that effective at preventing damage? I'd have been paranoid about that Japanese Maple.
Not one call in 4 years (knock on wood) for plant damage. If something looks a bit tender I will give it a good soaking with clean water before and after. I have had customers cover their plants with plastic bags, and they basically hot cooked inside... But nothing from SH. I will even water down my mix a bit if a client is really anxious.
What size do you use on your injector? Also you mentioned atomization relief. What do you mean by that?
I use a 2.1 injector. Adding an extension after the gun cuts down on the atomization. I don't know the exact science behind it, but I think it is because the water churns while passing through the valve in the gun. And the straight pipe allows it to flow easier out of the nozzle.
Sounds like you are using wise counsel from Dave Ramsey. Also, maybe in February when it's slow, you should take some of the painters business, by painting some houses!
Because of space limitations that I have I've decided to go with a tandem 6x12 trailer. My truck is a Honda Ridgeline which is similar in size to your Nissan Frontier. I was curious on the type of hitch that you needed for your truck. Is it a straight receiver to hook up to the coupler or did you need to purchase a receiver with a drop?
@@Lostintime31 6x12 is still a pretty nice size!! And I'm loving the tandem axle. I have a drop receiver because it was free with the trailer. But when more weight goes on the trailer I will have to switch to straight. What is the towing cap on your Ridgeline?
Do you now Thom from Mr Fix All in Raleigh ?
No, not yet 😁
On the hot sides you should cool them down a bit this way here it won't dry as fast
I do, depending on the day. This one was pretty shady, so not too hot 😁👍
Did you order and apply yourself?
Nope, I had a local sign company print and install
If you do get an 8gpm in my opinion, you'll need to increase your buffer tank. I have 200 gallon BUT depending on water supply to it, I have run out a couple times.
A less expensive alternative to a regular tank is a used IBC tote. With your larger trailer you now have the space needed for that.
I am planning on getting a 275 gal IBC tote to feed the 8gpm. The 50gal vertical tank will remain the buffer for the 4gpm. Hopefully I will get to run both at the same time next spring
I totally agree!! I also like the cage on the IBC for extra tie down area. The 8 gpm was my intention for the larger trailer. My layout currently leaves room over the axle for an IBC and an additional pressure washer next to the 4 gpm. 😁👍
On a totally unrelated note I've been dying to ask you a question since I started following you. How and why did you decide on a navy blue shirt for pressure wising with SH? It's got to be tough keeping it from getting stained.@@steppspressurewashing
@@Lostintime31 lol, well I have several colors that I wear. Really the trick is just wearing 100% polyester. I used to wear white from head to toe, but darker clothes hide the dirt, and mud better. No issues with the synthetic fabrics bleaching out 👍
Ever considered building an 8 gpm?
I have, but the price on everything is almost the same. My local pressure washing store sells the gx690 without muffler for $2200...
13:59 may I know what is your ratio you used for the deck please? Thanks
Sodium Metasilicate: in a measuring cup 6oz per 1 gallon of water. Oxalic acid: in a measuring cup 5oz per gallon of water. It is important to allow both to dissolve fully before use. I mixed these onsite about 2 hours before use, and left them in the sun. They dissolve better with warm water. It would also be acceptable to mix them the night before.
@steppspressurewashing thank you so much for the info it's a big help
