2018 Porsche Macan S 5,000 Mile Daily Driver Review
I've daily driven a 2018 Porsche Macan S since July. In this video I walk you through owning & driving the twin turbo V6 PDK Macan S with 20 inch wheels, huge rubber, & panoramic sunroof. I got the car Certified Pre-Owned & put it through its paces with a cross country road trip, & a mix of city driving & highway commuting.

Aftermarket Valved Exhaust for Porsche 981 Boxster S: Awesome or Awful?
Просмотров 3,2 тыс.10 месяцев назад
This is... the long awaited aftermarket exhaust video! Plenty of DRIVE BY and In-the-Cockpit sound clips of the exhaust. I bought a FabSpeed Valvetronic Exhaust. And it's Spinal Tap, like the movie: You can turn it up to 10 or to 11... those are your choices. Give the video a listen and note that you are apparently one mod away from turning your car from unassuming ride to snarling beast! At 7,...
Porsche 917 Watch - Review & Who Stole It... & How I Got It Back!

Sportscar Owner Reviews Porsche Macan: It's Spaceship AF!!

Stepping out of the Porsche 981 Boxster S with Fabspeed exhaust and into a 2021 Miami Blue Porsche Macan. Is the Macan "a driver's car?" Did Porsche sell out for the $$$, or is the Macan a tall, hot hatch that shames most BMWs? Doug Lindsay walks you through it.
Shoes for Driving: Nonsense or Essential? Piloti with Porsche

1 Year Porsche Boxster S Daily Driver Review

From 17,000 miles when I got it to 34,000 miles, I made this 2014 Boxster S my daily driver. Road trips, track days, back roads, maintenance, mods, and more. Does this thing do it's job or is it all show? Was the Certified Pre-Owned Warranty worth it? How about the PPF? And when I crossed the Mississippi River in my Boxster, did it sink? Tune in. ;)

$100 All-Season Tires for 981 Porsche Boxster S: Cheap, But Any good?

Not enough snow around here for dedicated winter tires, but waaaaaay too cold for summer tires, so I found cheap 20" all-season tires for my Porsche Boxster S. One of the better things, to me, about driving a manual, is the lack of drone with aftermarket exhaust. While i have NO EXPERIENCE with a 981 or any porsche, i am picking my 14 981 boxster up in Ohio Sunday, and driving back to fort Meyers. 😁😁 i do however have experience with an 09 challenger rt without resonators and borla s-types. The v8s give a deeper rumble, where the higher revving 6 cylinder is more raspy, to me, hits that pitch that seems too loud??? Ear piercing? Maybe? Like sounds great on a race car, but the tuners and such...to me, as an older 52 guy with hearing damage, hurts my ears. I agree, the fabspeed sounds great, but theres a loss of a "middle" ground. Borla for the 981 seems "too much" and soul sounds right, but like to keep my money here in the USA...well...as mych as i can. So, I'll just be gappy to finally drive a porsche, and when i want more speed, I'll drive my wifes jaguar f-type r 380 supercharged. Its not pdk, but I'm a manual guy anyway. Both are convertible, and even tho my boxster hasn't even made it into its spot in the garage, you can believe....if the right 911 pops up....hers and mine, are GONE!!!! 😂😂😂 great videos!! Im sure you're a busy guy, but....get that editing done! 😉👍🏼👍🏼

I think you nailed this point. Radar detector is just that “Radar”. If you live in a city or town that actively sits and runs radar, sure it’s good, however, most cops drive and observe driving. They will have to tail you to get an accurate speed but the ticket will usually say something like observed speed. Yes this can be fought but then it’s $$. Therefore, it all comes down to this.. just slow down. Ive got a hybrid sports car and I like to get on it for 7 seconds but I’m not a fool and even then my head is on a swivel and I’m using Waze. I do love the V1 and believe it’s the best detector for years and years but I think it’s still a false sense of security for the guy that thinks he can smash the petal anytime, anywhere. Honestly, how many times have guys cranked through all gears up to 155+ for 10 min except in a chase 😆 😆

I am interested to see what I think versus the Porsche sports exhaust. I love the sound and ability to change from one to the other. I do like knowing you can add it in later. Interesting to know its not the same button selector as normal but not a deal breaker. I'm almost thinking I am okay without needing that option right off the bat, which helps with the pool of cars to choose from. Always leaves something to add and enhance it after having enjoyed it stock for a while.

Sounds like you wanted the sound of a header with PSE. Closed valves you get the exact same sound up to 4000rpm and a nice increase in sound above 4k. Open valves you get a big difference all the time probably similar to your open setup.

I test drove a 2013 Boxter S today that I am thinking about purchasing. 34,448 miles. Manual trans. $44,000. The other possibility is a 2018 Cayman S. Also manual. 37,000 miles. $60,000. I have never driven a 718, so I have no basis for comparison, but I like the idea of the older 981 for easier re-sale if I don't like it. I'm thinking that after this year, since they will stop making either Boxter or Cayman in manual, it will be more desirable to an enthusiast looking for the non-turbo six cylinder manual. This will be a second "fun" car, as I already have a 2024 Macan Base for family use. What are your thoughts? Thanks very much!@@autofocuscarsvids719

Think of it this way: below 45°F, the rubber compound increasingly becomes the consistency of hard plastic. That’s the visualization I heard described in a forum. Admittedly, a bit hyperbolic, but it’s a memorable description of the decreased performance characteristics. You hit the nail on the head when mentioning the real problem is when you try to stop and turn at the same time. What led me to this video today is, it’s the middle of winter, and I have the itch to go out for a drive to cheer myself up on a gloomy, gray day. But looks like I’ll have to wait until it warms back up.

If you just do short trips and backroad blasting its fine but doing any distance run with such a drone would be bothersome. My preference would be stock volume in quiet mode and obnoxious in loud. Also It doesnt look like they fitted it properly the tail pipes stick out too far and they are not centered properly.

The drone with the aftermarket exhaust will be even more prominent with PDK, as the transmission will the chase the higher gear where the drone is the worst (7th). I drove a Cayman 981S with an aftermarket exhaust and experienced the same problem with drone in lower RPMs. I had to drop a gear, to 6th, to avoid the drone. Then I drove a 981 with the Porsche Sport Exhaust (PSE). The PSE has just the right balance--it is the only exhaust with absolutely no drone in any RPM. Porsche really got it right from the factory.

So, in my exhaust choice I was guided by loss avoidance -- which as we know can be stronger than the desire for gain. The FabSpeed guy in his videos on the 981 exhaust references again and again exhausts made in China and then sandblasted to disguise their cheap origins. Then he talked about loss of power from aftermarket exhausts and because the Boxster S is far from overpowered, I couldn't bring myself to risk spending a few grand to have my car make less HP. I looked at IPE and FabSpeed but my local Porsche dealer had experience with FabSpeed and they were made and shipped from Pennsylvania, so I went with FabSpeed.

I was a "Sub-Contracted Inspector" for Lemond Squad; I worked for Ferrari 7 years, Porsche/AUDI 9 (3 at the factory in Germany) and was offered a position as "Midwest Service Representative for Alfa Romero" for another 9 years. I moved to Miami, have my own shop and do PPI's and Warranty inspections for a number of firms. I had to drop LS because being a lover of "All things Porsche" I would regularly take about 150 pictures/inspection and if the vehicle I inspected had a history of an OEM flaw I would always enter it in my "Summery Report." Lemond Squad (to use a word getting popular these days) would redact my summery report by over 1/3?! I would check if on a Porsche between the late 1997 to 2005 ask the seller "If the IMS bearing was replaced and a copy of the Repair Order?" The people at LS thought this a "bit too much" information" for what I considered important to the buyer. I wasn't "fishing for additional work" I'm quite busy. I have had buyers ask me to "preform a fluid's test" I'd send an oil sample to "Blackstone Labs" and either I'd do the conversion or refer them to a shop to replace it so the next owner wouldn't have this well known engine failure occur! LS is a good idea but like Carfax doesn't tell "The Whole Story" if it's necessary. I always run the VIN on 4 different databases (on every car I did). If I found that the car was sold to the seller on a "Rebuilt Title" I'd include pictures taken at the auctions around the country and label them "Before #1/2/3." The Inspectors aren't employee's of LS rather LS is like a construction company that sub-contracts (w/o any clear contract) to preform inspections.
