Shoes for Driving: Nonsense or Essential? Piloti with Porsche

What do you wear on your feet when you're heel-toeing in your C8, 911, or Huracan? I picked up a pair of Piloti driving shoes for my jaunts in the Boxster S. They split the difference between true Sparco Racing Boots and regular tennis shoes. Are they worth buying or should you just drive barefoot? We explore...

Great rundown. I have the exact same shoe and love them! I haven’t had any rubbing or pain, but my longest drive has only been a few hours. I wear Gold Toe dress socks with mine.

nice. are the gold toe socks pretty thick? i just did Florida and back in the pilotis and they were great again. thick socks help

I bought a pair of Ferragamo drivers with the same intent after driving a few track days with an off-the-shelf-yet-ill-fitting pair of Converse All-Stars, and they're fantastic. Way overkill, and I believe that anyone going to enough track events to warrant buying a pair of specific driving shoes can let their feet "work in" to a pair of anything and get comfortable, or go with a specific racing shoe. As far as touring and being comfortable on a long drive, or taking your car on it's weekly blast down the B roads, adding a pair of nice driving shoes to the experience and routine only compliments an already great time.

I agree with all of that. I drove Tail of the Dragon and all the way to Knoxville in the Pilotis and they did well. Drove the new Lotus Emira and they did well. The slim and thin sole add a lot just by staying out of the way.

Seems like my channel is older (though less successful) than Marques Brownlee's AutoFocus, but that Doug Demuro launched the business Cars and Bids about 5 months before I posted my first car video. There is also some kind of Hoonigan AutoFocus channel from some famous car photographer, but apparently it's not the name of his channel.
