A video game known as Splatterhouse was never meant to be played in the USA, but it still got into the states. That game was definitely not meant for kids, and then they made Splatterhouse action figures...

GenX here and we both didn't care and had no fear regarding trash talking to someone, especially in arcades where we'd be trash talking someone 2-3X our size and age as they're standing next to us playing the game as our opponent. As for politically correctness today compared to how things were in the 80s, honestly people in the 80s especially GenXers as kids, we were much more diverse naturally. We were much more open minded regarding others, we didn't care what you looked like but more how you were as a person. With many kids today the diversity seems to be forced on to them and has become more discriminatory because of this. As a kid my family had 2 separate volumes of Encyclopedias, one was from the 80s the other however was from 1911 and I'd use both of those for some of my reports along with at times an Atlas my family had. Honestly growing up as a kid in the 80s is definitely not something I'd trade for anything compared with growing up as a kid now, the freedom and experiences from back then definitely were a huge part of who I am today.

The ATV vehicle pack is hilarious. Not only does it make figures look like clowns when they ride them, the Joes have the option to carry these vehicles into battle on their backs. I love that concept. Carrying your own transport device. 😂

You more or less described my exact experience with he Toxic Avenger as a kid. I grew up with Toxic Crusaders, never knew about Avenger until we were at our local video store and I saw Toxic Avenger on Laserdisc. So me as a kid I'm thinking it's like the live action Turtles movie. My mom rents it for me we go home I put the movie in and we're watching it. Now granted I grew up watching shit I shouldn't have, Rocky Horror, Nightmare on Elm St, Robocop, etc etc, but I was NOT prepared for Toxic Avenger lol My mom passed out on the couch so she wasn't awake for the really bad shit. The kid getting crushed with the car stuck with me for a few days as a kid. I got up to the part where Toxie was putting the dude's hands in the fryer and my dad came home from work. I thought I was gonna get in trouble for watching this for some reason and turned it off and didn't watch it till I was in my teens. But yeah, Toxic Crusaders and Toxic Avenger are definitely big bullet points in my childhood for completely different reasons lol

As I became a teen in the 90s, I would occasionally look at the toy aisle to see the new Joes and Transformers. The gaudy colors they started using and a bunch of crappy looking vehicles. Made me feel lucky I experienced the 80s.

The problem with the POGO is how it is portrayed in its use. In the commercial this thing was some sort of helicopter (doubt it had the fuel needed to do that with rockets. In the comic they showed it bouncing around like crazy. IF a vehicle like this existed it would serve Cobra operations well by providing anti air defense in locations that were difficult to reach in the mountains. Use the rockets to get to your site or redeploy if discovered. The hydraulic legs allow landing and stability on uneven terrain. The small laser provides limited anti-infantry defense. Also, the backpacks for the Super Sonic Fighters were removable as the normal backpacks were. He's thinking of the Talking Battle Commanders which was the first version of Overkill that we received.

Dissing the Detonator? Not cool, dude, that was my second-favorite Cobra vehicle after that one Destro vehicle that was a tank that transformed into a helicopter (who's name I can never remember. No argument on the ninja vehicles, the entire GI Joe ninja subline was absolutely awful.

The point of the Coastal Defender, I would guess, is to disguise this defensive outpost as a shipping container. If you have intel that the shipment (at port or on the sea) is going to be attacked, you have a Coastal Defender delivered and "stored" as a dummy container. As the attack is underway -- surprise! -- you've got the artillery to take out a Moray. Now because it is a toy, it doesn't have all the stuff you'd need to survive -- oxygen, A/C, food supplies, a latrine and a bunk -- while waiting for that attack. Just imagine the real version is more like Optimus Prime's trailer. Further, you'd have to strategically place this dummy container and not let it get buried in the shipping container stacks. These days, it might be comparable to the news reports we hear about migrants locked inside of trailers and left to their sad, unfortunate fates. :( ... So, I don't think this will be revived any time soon.
