eBay doesn't give two shits about protecting their sellers.

I had sold a pair of reading glasses not realising they had prescription lenses, buyer asks for $35 refund to have the lenses changed out at the optometrist, I decided no and to send them back for a refund. She goes on and on about how she’s unable to go to the post office and doesn’t have any friends/family that could post them back. Long story short she never sent them back, she didn’t get a refund, but she left a massive paragraph negative feedback which I couldn’t get removed even though I did the correct eBay procedure of offering a refund when they send it back. OTS

Ebay customer service has been full or idiots for 25 years. Your mistake was engaging with them. I prefer to just take the loss knowing I'll make it back on the next few sales rather than trying to get some favourable resolution from those nobs. If I had this sale/return, I would have taken the initial loss on shipping paid, recovered it from resale of the item and been slightly irritated that my final net profit/loss was nothing from the $3 find.

I wonder if they realised it wouldn’t play on their console after you sent it and just refused to pick it up. I sold a 3ds game to someone in USA recently and thought, oh I better make sure they know it won't play in USA. Thankfully they responded before i sent it out and they (very rudely) asked to cancel.

I just skipped about 3 reseller videos because I was sick of hearing everybody whinging and whining about eBay. Then landed on this one 🤣 Watched it the whole way through, this was a justified rant!

It's obvious these Ebay "customer service" people are just using cut and paste template replies, hoping it will "fix" the problem without having to do a proper investigation. Yes, laziness. Bloody numb nuts!! 😂

It's both usps and customer fault. It can go against your standard . I would argue I did everything I was supposed to. I shipped with tracking. I stayed in contact with the customer and followed ebays instruction through the process.

I would till open the parcel up, just to make sure. I have a few stories but the one that sticks with me is what happened to my son as a new seller. He sent a parcel to Las Vegas in America lucky I did it through my business account. For some reason, the tracking stopped after a certain point still don't know why. His customer start off nice saying he hasn't received the parcel. I told my son to time to wait a couple more weeks and to check at his local postal office. He opened a claim up as parcels not received. eBay was siding with them even that I had the tracking number. I call my client manager at auspost and said I'll be opening up an insurance claim for 1500 dollars (my son didn't want to pay for the insurance but I did it anyway) the person Australia Post said give me two days. Within 24 hours it turned out it was sitting at his post office or whatever it's called over there and they had been informed him a few times. He stated to his Postal service that he was out of town. I personally believe that he knew my son was a new seller and he was trying to get a 1500 dollar product for free. I personally think as he didn't pick up the parcel you should be entitled to keep the postage charges at least. You could try and say the parcel and say the item is as you sent it and get a 50% back. Did you get charged for the postage to come back to Australia or not? You can share my story as boring it as it is. Cheers Graham

I had something like that happen with some nike airs i sold. Buyer got them fairly cheap and I sent them off. Item missed a scan or something on the way and was a little bit late but then about 8 days after the item was sent out buyer opened a case. I checked the tracking and said it was awaiting collection at xxxx po office. Told the buyer in a message. Buyer never got back to me so I ended up sharing screenshots with the live chat on ebay with what I told the buyer and they closed the case but refunded the buyer from their own pocket. I didn't have to pay anything but the next thing I saw was "item x was collected on xxx at po office". I couldn't believe it, so not only did the buyer get a refunded from ebay but they picked up their parcel. Some people are just so pathetic when it comes to buying stuff.

What a bloody joke. Glad they came back in your favour. I’ve got one at the moment and the person hasn’t picked it up from the post office for a week, and hasn’t responded to my last 2 messages. eBay don’t release the money to me until it is collected!!

Send 100s of books each week and never a hassle with the PO. If there is ever an issue - it's the new estate address that's not in the system yet, the customer has the wrong address details. Or I send 2 items to the wrong customers

I actually collect old board games. I’ve loved board games since I was young. I tried to see what you were passing by. The Stargate SG1 board game can be worth good money if it’s complete but you did miss that one. I’ve bought some of my games off market place and eBay and some that were mine from when I was younger. Old Milton Bradley games can be worth good money. I have no plans to sell most of my games except maybe one which I bought with every intention of selling it as it’s very rare. I have a Twiggy board game from 1967 and a Mary Poppins board game from 1964 which are quite rare here. They do take up quite a lot of room so that can be an issue. I enjoyed the video.

Ive had my hands on a couple of fake Monopolies, the boxes were thinner, lighter and some small arabic writing on the back, Made in Malaysia, It's Estimated there could be up to 7000 legitimate versions of Monopoly available worldwide

I've found that there's almost no parallel between the insane, autistically obsessive and highly legalistic collectors market in the USA for weird highly specific stuff that shouldn't be worth that much, and the hard, cold reality of the Aus market. I used to watch some of the US channels and, frankly, almost none of the info there helped me. I guess that's the difference between a country of 350 million people, with a highly conservative culture that clings to sentimental objects, and Australia with 25 M people and a largely immigrant nation.

Went through hell this week . Package made it to persons state. Then tracking went dead . A few days later, it's on my porch with a sticker that said better address. I Google address and looked on zell . Address good and clearly marked on house . I ask buyer do you want it back in mail . She said yes . Put back in mail same address and it made it to her state and sat . She filed case . 2 days later, it was delivered, and my funds are still on hold . Alot of time wasted

I sent an item to the UK beginning of May, no updated tracking on Aus Post and customer still hasn’t received it. Customer has been understanding but EBay refunded them the cost of $400 out of my funds. I’m still trying to find out where this bloody parcel is. I am so frustrated that eBay took my funds when none of this is my fault, I’ve done everything i could. Never had this happen before.

I’ve worked at a charity shop and I know at my time there, I reported 2 people for stealing and there was others I remember that were caught and they were all dealt with and dismissed, it is fairly common as people/ volunteers see the items as free to take as they have been given to the charity for nothing, it’s like open slather. Congratulations Uncle waf waf. Is disgusting how people still from these charities. I had a friend do community service back in that late 80s in the charity organization and women doing the sorting was stealing. I don't think they're stealing to sell but just for their family and friends. But I must admit it's Big Business these days, worth tens maybe even hundreds of thousands of dollars. You'll never put a stop to stealing. But you could informed the ATO and at least they'll chase them for the tax, I bet they not paying. Some countries require 2 customs forms - idk why. They go in an accessible clear sleeve. I know some peeps don't put the second form in, but I don't want anything coming back.
