I sent an item to the UK beginning of May, no updated tracking on Aus Post and customer still hasn’t received it. Customer has been understanding but EBay refunded them the cost of $400 out of my funds. I’m still trying to find out where this bloody parcel is. I am so frustrated that eBay took my funds when none of this is my fault, I’ve done everything i could. Never had this happen before.

I literally JUST started selling on Mercari & EBay. My first 4 sales all had issues due to shipping carrier fuck ups. It’s mind blowing that they can screw up driving a box from point A to point B every. single. time. And this is only shipping within the states!

I've personally not had any issues with international post yet - touch wood. But I print the labels at home. Some countries require 2 customs forms - idk why. They go in an accessible clear sleeve. I know some peeps don't put the second form in, but I don't want anything coming back.

I've never used clear sleeve. Only trouble once and that was something I posted for my son which was 1500 dollars to Las Vegas. The dog opened a claim and I believe he knew it was sitting at the post office. Trying to get a refund and then pick up the item is what I believe.

I’ve worked at a charity shop and I know at my time there, I reported 2 people for stealing and there was others I remember that were caught and they were all dealt with and dismissed, it is fairly common as people/ volunteers see the items as free to take as they have been given to the charity for nothing, it’s like open slather. Congratulations on your engagement Uncle, what a thrill for you both, good luck.

Congratulations Uncle waf waf. Is disgusting how people still from these charities. I had a friend do community service back in that late 80s in the charity organization and women doing the sorting was stealing. I don't think they're stealing to sell but just for their family and friends. But I must admit it's Big Business these days, worth tens maybe even hundreds of thousands of dollars. You'll never put a stop to stealing. But you could informed the ATO and at least they'll chase them for the tax, I bet they not paying. Good luck for writing books l, it's good to see somebody doing something they love to do. Cheers Graham

Congratulations on your engagement! What a cool way of popping the Q. Int post is a bit of a two edged sword - have had a few horror stories myself. Mate the info on corruption I have heard about the main op shop chain here is insane.

Hi new subscriber , I resell, will only buy from small ‘real’ op shops. They charge less, are really friendly, I’m happy to have less stock (100) I subsidise my retirement and make 5-10 sales per month around 30 real profit per sale. I state free postage and Sendle is great locally. I’m in Melbourne. Good wishes for your future

Send 100s of books each week and never a hassle with the PO.
If there is ever an issue - it's the new estate address that's not in the system yet, the customer has the wrong address details. Or I send 2 items to the wrong customers

I’m glad that you’ve had a good experience. So have I for the most part, but just recently there was a finale to the story I was telling on that episode where I ended up getting the video game back here in Australia and eBay said I never put tracking on the parcel, even though there was tracking on it and the customer acknowledged that. Just weird.

    • @davidnorton7464

We don't do international post for the reasons you mention.
If we had more $100+ books we would do international post. For sub- $50 items - international postage isn't worth the effort

That’s insane. Almost every single package I send or receive (together it’s probably at least 50 a month) gets screwed up because of some stupid crap from usps or ups. Usually it eventually makes it to its destination but NEVER without problems. I think it bc I live in a state of dumbasses (FL)

Congratulations to you and Ally on your engagement. If I spelt her name wrong I do apologise. Good luck with the launch of your book plus the new one you have written. I’m going to be adding items to my eBay listing soon and international posting scares me so I’ll probably just do Australia only at first until I’m comfortable with that. I enjoyed the whole video by the way lol.

Went through hell this week . Package made it to persons state. Then tracking went dead . A few days later, it's on my porch with a sticker that said better address. I Google address and looked on zell . Address good and clearly marked on house .
I ask buyer do you want it back in mail . She said yes . Put back in mail same address and it made it to her state and sat . She filed case . 2 days later, it was delivered, and my funds are still on hold . Alot of time wasted

I agree there has to be a better process and it is not fair. I don’t understand some of these buyers and I find that part of the process upsetting, but I wear my heart on my sleeve as you probably have figured out so stuff like that upsets me because I wouldn’t do it to another person.

Topics: what’s the story with Australian op shops? I heard someone say one of the two biggies (our church op shops) sent a percentage overseas? Do you know about that? And what happens to books going to landfill, is that really a thing?? I know you call it as it is, so thought I’d ask those questions…
