IT 'S SO GREEN!! Hiking to Marymere Falls and The Hoh Rainforest in Olympic National Park
Просмотров 5216 часов назад
Our second day in Olympic was dedicated mostly to the Hoh Rainforest area but we had one waterfall we had missed the previous day so we started our morning off with a short hike up to Marymere Falls. This is one of the most popular waterfalls in the park. After that we made the long drive down to the Hoh entrance of the park where we spent over an hour waiting to enter because of high visitatio...

For our farthest trip yet, we give in and fly. We landed in Seattle with time to explore the waterfront before taking our ferry across to the Olympic Peninsula where our cabin waited for us. Our first day in Olympic National Park was spent in the north. We entered the Elwha River area and hike the short trail up to Madison Falls. Our second stop was Crescent Lake which was breathtaking. As warmer weather made us eager to hike we took our chances at hiking in May in Colorado. Knowing the snow pack would keep us from high elevation hikes we found trails we could access and that meant waterfalls. Chasm falls is along the Old Fall River Road. The second day we returned to the Wild Basin to hit Copeland Falls, Calypso Cascades, and then Ouzel Falls.
Spring Day Hiking at Knob Noster State Park
Просмотров 863 месяца назад
Determined to hike, we snuck away from our every day lives and took an afternoon to hit the trail. With Spring upon us, we wanted to take in all the new blooms and fresh green. While Knob Noster State Park is not exactly a park of grandeur, the beauty of this park can be found in the small, intimate ways that require you to stop, slow down and take them in with purpose. We connected the Hawk's ...

To escape the December cold at home we took off for Texas to find better weather. With three days in Big Bend National Park, we wanted to hit a few of the must see sights and head out on long overdue backpack. Entering the park at sunrise is a perfect way to watch the park wake up. We started at the Grapevine Hills with a short hike up to a balanced rock. Next we drove straight to the impressiv...

We arrived in Yellowstone with a plan and a list of things we HAD to see. Eight days is longer than we usually spend in a park but Yellowstone is no ordinary park. We pulled in in the morning of our first day and walked the lakeside boardwalk at the West Thumb Geyser Basin. Day two we started at the south rim of the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone, made our way over Dunraven Pass then on to Lam...
TOO COLD TO HIKE! Rocky Mountain National Park in December
Просмотров 5389 месяцев назад
In December while in Rocky Mountain National Park, rangers strongly advised we not do any lengthy hikes because wind chills were below -20 in parts of the park. We took the day to see some sights that don't require long exposure times. We started off at the Alluvial Fan, made our way though the park, hit up Squatchy's for some much needed breakfast and coffee then ran out to Lilly Lake. To end ...

Time was up and we had to get home. We made one last stop at Tower Falls on our way out. The Sun came up to cast warm vibrant colors as the thick fog parted. Taking the Beartooth Highway out was well worth the extra time and we didn't feel like we missed out on Cody, WY. A quick stop at Pompey's Pillar made up for our planned visit last year on the way to Glacier that never happened. Our final ...

Boys this is ty me and Zelda are loving these vidyas! You were deep in bigfoot country. Have any bigfoot sign? (Structures, howls, stinkyness, tree snapping?) We appreciate the birds you get on film. I noticed down in Texas on the border when you guys were on the river mom spotted a Mexican Jay! I noticed it had crossed our border so even the Mexican birds want to cross the border. Wet wings! Love what you boys are doing us fattys and old can't hike any further than to the ice cream truck when it stops in front of the house and in this heat that's even a challenge! Thanks for sharing the world with us boys!

I remember before it became a National Park in 1964. At first I didn’t like it because of all the rules. With the abandonment of the farms, the water became more clean visibly. The only thing that has changed is the amount of canoes, but all need to experience the length of these rivers! The National Park Service does an EXCELLENT JOB taking care of it!

I first saw Big Spring about 60 years ago and at that time there were no concrete or stone sidewalks, picnic tables, etc. The spring itself used to shoot out of the side of the rock wall more like a fire hydrant, I see now it comes up from the floor of the pool. Those cave like structures were where the spring used to spray out from. Big changes in how the spring flows in the last 60 years.

Thanks for taking me along with your video. That campground looks awesome. I tried to mt. Bike this 20 years ago. Sand, heat, mud steep hills were no problem. There were killer flies that even 100% DEET would not repel. It seemed to attract them. I was forced to abort before they carried me away. I have to go back if for nothing else than that campground, this time with 4 wheels.

If those flies are the ones I'm thinking of, we call them cedar gnats and they have a very short lifespan. It's unfortunate that you encountered them, as they only come out for a few weeks between spring and summer.

a scenic or historically important area of countryside protected by the federal government for the enjoyment of the general public or the preservation of wildlife. "commercial exploitation of natural resources in a national park is illegal" As you have said the springs alone are a unique geographic feature worth preserving. Debate over.
