28:40 Sooo I decided to check out this video because I’ve been stuck on chapter three for like two days now and wanted to know if there was something I was missing. The swordmaster dude died right at the end of his join chapter and I figured it wouldn’t be a huge deal because he barely did any damage anyways, aaaaand then I land in a chapter that’s like 90% beefy axe dudes where he would be perfect for chipping and/or holding chokepoints. I suppose if nothing else, I feel even more sure that I should include casual mode in my hack.

Btw, in RD, it is implied that the others also know about the blood contract. Jill and Zihark are recruitable by Ike's army beforehand, but if you talk to them after, their dialogue implies something has changed

I agree, now as someone who’s in the world of rom hacked FE, the vanilla GBA games just feel so Bland, like I still love them cuz nostalgia but like Rom hacks are the way to go

Fire Emblem might be the peak video game series for “*God* <this game> is *so* close to being being good/great” it makes me feel like an ANDROID how often I say it. FE9 both-sides-ing rant: What people anywhere on the “beneficiary of” part of the spectrum of oppressive social/political/economic systems need to learn is that the only way that killing a slavemaster can be considered “wrong” is tactically. The worst it could ever be is a tactical mistake not an immoral act because slavery or any form of structural oppression is always a greater evil than any lines crossed in resisting or dismantling them.

this list passes the 'is binding blade top tier' test 10/10

I'm mad on 3H in B tier. Well, i replayed 3H twice this year. Fast draft run normal mode is boring. But maddening NG+ is playable. You can use the good tools like gambits and combat arts without worrying about getting the basic maddening setup like the blow skills, hit+20 etc and without doing monastery chores optimally to unlock professor rank early. Just dont unlock everything in ch1. Having all the tools in ch1 made the early game very easy. And also FE6, conquest and engage, at the highest tier. Nice. They are the games I replay the most. Conquest is so much fun when you understand the game. I loved my last run that I planned a Meme Selena build

In all honesty, I'm just glad Engage and Binding Blade are in the top. I really love and hate Engage as my favorite Fire Emblem. I love it because it made me delve deeper into this series to games I ended up liking a lot (Thracia and Binding Blade). I also hate it for the exact same reason, in this case for Genealogy and Blazing Blade. Like, I don't think I was ever as frustrated with game mechanics and presentation as with Genealogy, while I was exgremely stoked and entertained with the weirdness of Thracia and it's completely unfair map design.

Revelation being B tier isn't what makes me unsubscribe. Calling Thracia good is what makes me unsubscribe.

I'm actually happy revelations is in B tier, it's a fun game, and I don't mind the gimmicks (infact, I dare say I enjoy them) As for my favourite fire emblem game, I would Conquest is the one I like the most, definitely the best of the 3ds era (Next time I'm doing a conquest playthrough, I'm naming the avatar Android and I will give them armor knight talent because in my mind fire emblem generals=robots)

I remember the first time I noticed how stupid "both sides" stories are It was atlus' weird insistance in the megami tensei series that socialist attitudes are somehow just as bad as literal social darwinism because it will lead to people no longer trying and having no ambition And if you pick too many socialist options you run the risk of becoming a genocidal religious fanatic who is also a stand-in for america trying to colonize japan I'm from a relatively poor family so I can only play through emulators so I never played the tellius games but from what i did see or read i did notice those kinds of moments you described so i'm glad you called it out since everyone keeps claiming they're the anti-racism games

Genealogy and Thracia should be together, half of the Thracia lore is front loaded by Genealogy so that Thracia can just hop into its narrative with a clear end goal. Narratively, Genealogy and Thracia are better than Radiant Dawn and Path of Radiance full stop. The Laguz And Beorc conflict always feels artificial and lacks weight compared to Sigurds tour of subjugation and its political fallout and the scapegoating by Arvis and the Loptous church

Call me basic, but my favorite is probably 3 Houses (on the account that it's one of the four official games I've actually played.) I get most of my enjoyment out of ROM hacks. The only thing that really sucks in my opinion is walking around the monastery all the time. I'd prefer a hub similar to SMT: Devil Survivor, where it's basically a bunch of menus which lead to different places. Honestly, Devil Survivor's kinda peak, would recommend. What was I talking about. Who cares, subscribe to Dani Doyle.

Revelations top 10? Lets gooo! I know it has its Problems, but building my units a from chapter ~10 to the early 20s is some of the most fun I have with the series. Though I always drop it at that point and either start again or play Conquest (or maybe Engage) if I want to play more strategic like an android. Anyway, I hope you get well soon.

main takeaway: no one hates fire emblem more than people hopelessly addicted to fire emblem also as someone who actually likes rev but also loves sacred stones this video was a wild rollercoaster, I have won rev recognition but at what cost
