You should definitely binge Zoran's Conquest Train All Units series if you haven't already. I've learned so many mechanics about this game that I didn't know before all just to get 1 or 2 more points of efficiency
Great video, but during the Dark Mage portion, you mentioned being unable to reclass and get a tome immediately for chapter 7. However, I obtained a Disrobing Gale from random MyCastle drops beforehand, meaning I can use Dark Mage during chapter 7, invalidating the entire video, smh my head my smh. Jokes aside, really good stuff and I can’t wait for more Rev stuff soon!
I'm glad you're enjoying it :-) try not to let chapter 10 break your spirit (chapter 10 sucks 😔) because I really do like basically every map after that
My Rev Lunatic blind playthrough eventually detoriated into FemCorrin with Arthur backpack, Camilla with Keaton backpack, Xander with Charlotte backpack, and then Ryoma. Excited to see if I actually did it right
This series will be hype, I'm looking forward to seeing Gunter's episode whenever that may be. Will the series be in order of Revelations recruitment or just random?
Ngl, I tried to actually get a Rev run going a few months ago but something about the route felt frustrating. I think it's just because there is so little Rev content it almost feels like going in blind though, so I really appreciate this video. 1h+ Fates videos in general are my jam.
In Conquest I usually run a male Corrin with Speed boon and Magic Bane and a samurai talent to gain access to dualist's blow, vantage and Astra, them Switch to Master Ninja using a Friendship Seal and Kaze A rank, this can also be achive by a female Corrin and S rank on Kaze, but It force you to marry Kaze
The only thing I know about Fates is I’m bad at it… then again I started on Conquest Maniac which from my understanding isn’t the most beginner friendly experience.
Your video on Odin inspired me to do a rev run, I’m currently doing Oni Cheiftan Odin with Corrin marriage. I’m not sure if it’s actually good, but it’s nice to have an actually strong Oni.
I love seeing fates love! I might be blinded by nostalgia but this game was here for me in rough times. I think the hate is not as deserved as people make it seem, but maybe I should try to play it again now that it’s been such a long time and see for myself!
I really enjoy using a +Spd -Lck Ninja Corrin in Revelations! That combo gives Corrin the highest maximum Spd out of all of the Gen 1 units, which is boosted even further by the Omega Yato. Personally I think when picking your Corrin build, especially in Revelations, having sword access in your desired class is huge for the sake of the Yato. Even if you plan on using a forged Iron Shuriken for instance, having the Omega Yato is a must regardless of class because of it being a stat stick. It gives the bonus regardless of whether you can use it or not, but I prefer being able to wield it for the weapon triangle coverage. If I'm feeling more like using a magic-based Corrin, then I'll either go Nohr Noble or Dark Knight for this reason. (Grandmaster works too if you use the Fell Seal from Amiibo Robin) edit: Feet.
Will you talk about the best classes a unit would get through Corrin marriage? If so, I hope you talk about samurai!Corrin marriage and Oboro friendship Master of Arms Beruka with Sword/Lance/Axefaire, where she truly controls the weapon triangle and I say that is quite the "feat" (I know you meant feet)!
If there's a notable use case for coring marriage (for example corrin sexuals where it's their only option, or the servants who get fast supports) I will talk about it more in depth but otherwise it'll probably mostly be just offhanded mention like "this character can't get wyvern without the avatar" I don't like assuming corrin marriage because basically everyone wants it, Even generation 2
Speaking of Malig Knights being the only flying class with tomes: I'm rather surprised there's not more balancing mods for this game. Interesting rewards, lottery items, and dlc into the main game seems like a no brainer. For instance, a hoshidian character could be class swapped to Dark Flier, such as a child unit. Or it could be added to the Sky Knight promotion. It would definitely be interesting if it was a Corin starting class option as well. And while I'm talking about what ifs, some mods to integrate the child units as first gens would be interesting. Anything to write out the weird explanation for them 😂 But seriously there's a few that would be nice thematically to add to the cast, like Midori, Dwyer, & Percy. Plus the Beastkin units for variety.
i like the analasis. Im a yuge rev fan too This video kinda shows me how different playstyles can be, i normally save paralogue 1 for later and do chapter 9 immediately. Doing dualstrikes off of dragon Corrin with the entire suck squad is so vital to the way i approach that map that i can't imagine ever class changing them out of that class before that point. Generally throughout the game, Corrin tends to be some kind of weird support Unit who just happens to have monsterous stats for me But maybe i need to try and see how a physical corrin works out for me edit: feet
What do you think of taking advantage of parallel classes? For example if Jakob and Azura were to marry then Shigure can inherit Wyvern Rider not through Jakob but through Azura due to how the game handles class inheritance. Or if Corrin takes Mage as a talent and marries Ophelia then Ophelia gains Diviner as a marriage class. And Kana gets Dark Mage and Samurai as Heart Seal classes.
I talked about parallel classes in some other videos (which will be out later) but for corrin I didn't feel the need to bring it up because corrin doesn't ever gain parallel classes, and passing them to their spouse is fairly niche (since if you want to pass the class, you can often just select that as corrins talent).
This video perfectly captures why Corrin is easily my favorite avatar in FE. While they (like the other avatars) are broken, properly optimizing Corrin requires a really deep understanding of Fates’ unique mechanics. Just in order to talk about Corrin’s talent, Dani had to go over class-based skills, reclassify, and support partners. While I understand it can be intimidating as a high barrier of entry, I love how much you can influence and improve your other party members from before the game even begins. Most of the other avatars can just kinda do whatever they want and be great (…and that is quite true for Corrin too) and I’d argue that casually Corrin is easily weaker than avatars like Kris, Byleth, and Robin. However, the impact Corrin can have on the run as a whole is massive. In other words: the other avatars have a much lower skill floor and Corrin has a higher skill ceiling, which I really appreciate. It’s funny to me as someone who first played Birthright (after somehow missing Awakening) and basically didn’t reclass (besides promoting) any of my units 😅 It’s been a blast to learn about how truly in-depth the Fates mechanics are and breaking apart each game 1 by 1. And I think it’s incredible that Corrin was designed in a way to capture all of that mechanic richness into a single character
@@Ardava-r5f talking about skill ceiling/floor can always be a bit complex. What you’re saying is that you can treat Corrin as having a pretty low skill floor - just click the obvious buttons and they’ll be good. I agree with you on that! That being said - as Dani covered in this video - the skill ceiling is very high. You can optimize Corrin’s marriage/friendship partner with their heart seal class to create absolute monsters. As Dani covered as well, Corrin is extremely flexible and can work on many different builds. While you can put in a little effort and still get a great Corrin, you can also put in a TON of effort (using niche knowledge) and create an incredible Corrin that is also surrounded by great units, too. That’s why the skill ceiling is quite high. Characters like Kris and Byleth are a lot less complex with what you can do with them, which is why they have a lower skill ceiling
Huh. I'm not sure I've ever used Wyvern Corrin, because unlike Three Houses, Fates doesn't allow you to use weapons that your class doesn't specialize in under any circumstances, and Corrin, like most Fire Emblem lords, has a PRF _sword._ So I think I usually ended up going with the Ninja class line so I could tech into Mechanist for Replicate and then switch to Master Ninja to regain access to Yato. But it's been a fair while since I've played Fates.
You know as annoying as the Avatars can get sometimes I know they probably aren't going anywhere anytime soon so I'm just going to embrace it and have fun with it
Gonna throw this out there, I feel like Dragon Corrin is a bit undderrated here. No it's not the best way to run Corrin but since I love the aesthetic I've used it on all 3 routes and you know just having a unit you know isn't going to die is great to have sometimes. Dragonic Hex, a pair up, and maybe a skill like Lifetaker or Renewal, heck go -Speed Wary Fighter or something. Just a unit that will not die as long as you pay attention can be invaluable if you don't wanna get stressed too much. Feet. As for my most creative Corrin, unless you count Dragon Corrin stuff I don't think I've ever gotten that creative with him/her, I once did full Nohr Noble tome user with Nyx as the wife just to spam magic, but that was on Conquest Normal to mess around.
So does this mean you're splitting the 4 day rev video you mentioned in the update vid into a video per character? Either way, more fates content fuuuuuuck yeeeesssss
That rally bot Corrin concept honestly got me really wanting to replay rev. One of the most annoying parts for me of creating rally bots is their usually trash combat. Early promotion Corrin really does just solve so many problems (and my goal during rev is to usually zero to hero someone not named Corrin, because of the bare feet, so their combat does usually fall off)
The rally bot issue typically is fixed with planning or you just use a diverse team but the good thing about choosing corrin with a possible rally in their class is you can just have kana be the rallybot instead as corrins supportive personal is very high value versus kana’s. Kana’s paralouge also has another rally candidate in the bandits that show up for an early rally strength possibly after you pick up capture. Alternatively, sakura is quite a free character as a rally bot and rally luck can increase consistency drastically on large enemy phases, rally magic and rally speed is nice. Staff botting till early promote isn’t that bad as sun festals are a nice chunk and you can always reclass to sky knight first and pick up dual strike kills(or chuck her to whack at archers in the ninja map). Or a third idea, friendship sakura to azura to pass on a rally luck or magic to shigure. It may seem odd but azuras damage is actually considerable if you let it get going. Getting her to d rank lances gives javelin access and with her high str growth she can really put in some work to hit level 20 for promoted skills(as kills can be faster than singing although again, may seem weird, but if she’s behind on levels the gap catches her up).
this was really helpful, i’ve been meaning to try rev maddening, but i always got cold feet! i was wondering, is +mag -luck malig knight corrin unviable in rev? are enemy stats too high?
I think it's definitely workable The major downside of mine is luck in Revelation is all the berserkers in the game have the gamble skill which can make it difficult to avoid low percentage crits on low luck units. If you're aiming to do a purely magical corn then I would personally recommend plus mag minus strength, but if you do go with a minus luck you can feed corn some goddess icons to try and get around the issue, and you do get two fairly early on, (although this means you can't sell them if you're short on money)
That’s pretty much the cookie cutter good choice in rev and conquest actually. Plus magic minus luck has the interesting benefit of giving speed on c support pair up. Which is pretty good, but in general corrins strength stat will stay very usable anyways so pumping magic is good for stronger dragon stone and magic classes are strong. A flier class is really strong in the late game and is great as a pair up option too to, also letting corrin ferry allies and give them supportive. Minus luck is quite honestly not a problem if you are plan a bit. You can always boost luck with rally luck from Sakura, inspiring song, and most importantly, e rank shop weapons give that juicy dodge. E rank weapons in general are fantastic in this game as good accuracy and less chance to get crit boost your reliability substantially, and you can always make up for the damage loss with clever positioning and dual strikes. Note this is different from awakening where minus luck can be a detriment and it’s worth considering other banes as your options to limit crit in that game are much lower in the early game. In fates we ball.
I've been on a heavy Fates binge lately, so this is a welcome sight! I finished a hard classic Conquest run a little while back, and I'm working through lunatic Birthright right now. I'll probably go either lunatic Rev or Conquest (again) next! What I'm finding fun is that I can actually feel myself improving, which is particularly satisfying after the Ryoma solo trainwrecks that br and rev turned into the first time around and having to resort to phoenix mode on normal difficulty to beat Takumi in cq. Videos like this are what really helped me get on the learning curve properly, so I much appreciate them!
I’d say a reason why it tends to go ryoma gaming on those routes is that there’s no easy way for the player to know what’s coming up and fates is a game which rewards macro strategy decisions, so if you don’t know what you are building towards it can be tough to keep on, so defaulting to the strong 1-2 range attacker is gas. In BR lunatic I went rally bot duplicate kana and critzerker selkie cause why not, also life and death vantage Felicia. The power comes in planning beforehand so you can get creative with the builds. But it’s just not very feasible on a first time playthrough. We’ve all been there, ryoma gaming(I personally like Xander as a unit more, I like consistent high defence and the movement)
@ Xander gaming certainly occurred in my recent conquest run lol. It was my first time running it on classic, so I still had a bit of crutch leaning. But to be fair, my crutch was a monstrous abomination with sol, HP +5, and charlotte steroids. Sol ninja silas was a similar level of hard carry.
@@Dman25 No shame in any of that, sol ninja is a classic strategy and Silas is a classic choice. Xander should also be expected to be used cause it’s Xander(especially if you went the Charlotte route). Some strats you could try on a repeat are kinshis and bow or magic units(magic is very good in this game), or pop a hoshidan class into the mix with corrin marriage. It’s more of a poor choice to just not use these tools if you aren’t confident in your team without them. Especially in rev if you try rev on lunatic, as the early squad for the most part really struggles and prepromotes dominate(especially the flying ones).
@ I actually did do a bit of that. I set up Corrin as a tactical nuke with a samurai talent and a strength boon, which turned out to be a good call because her being perpetually at the soft exp cap led to her being used sparingly. I also made use of Bowzu, who turned out really well with a Niles marriage to boost her already high speed. I did lose Niles in Hinoka’s chapter, but by then she didn’t really need his training wheels anymore lol. I’m actually pretty bad about not using magic, which is something I was planning on doing in my next runs for a bit of spice. I’m intrigued by wyvern Elise and vantage l&d murder machine Ophelia. I made the classic blunder of benching Odin for Nyx… who died to Hinoka in chapter 11 in one of the most comical fashions imaginable. I tried to feed her the kill with something like a 60% hit rate, noticed the 4% crit rate beforehand, and decided to risk it anyway. You can guess what happened lol
@ lmao, seems like a fun run. Wyvern Elise is really fun to use indeed. Life and death ophelia you can really do with anyone if you bring in corrin with swordmaster or if you wanna be feisty, friendship Leo with Odin to get vantage life and death access on Leo. You could also leave mozu in villager oddly enough as her strength is good so with javelin she can be gaming. Then promote by time if ninja cave and we chilling. Mozu also pops out an absolutely crazy velouria(also life and death access, plus can get quick draw inherited). Or you could get away with some odd pairings like one time in rev I rolled with beruka leo and forrest was really slow than usual but his bulk was surprisingly good enough to handle the bottom left of the soleil paralouge. As long as the stats hit the minimum of what you need(not doubles, can survive, not 0 damage so enemies still attack into you), which can all be adjusted with tonics(I play on hardware no modifications so meals can be suspect) You can also get creative with classic ideas like sol ninja, in that we can do sol butler/maid with candidates like Xander with Felicia marriage and laslow friendship. Effie can do it to with Arthur marriage, or she can go kinshi. There’s sol maid Camilla which is actually just the path of least resistance lmao, she eats conquest alive. And course, if you lose kaze, always good to have these backups in mind(or just nab soleil, or laslow can do it although he’d rather go support)
Rev is surprisingly underexplored from what I know because people only talk about the snow map, the weak retainers, the story, and then turn their brains off.
Corrin can use friendship seals. As I explained in the video, corrin is able to friendship reclass to the base class of any same gender unit they achieve A rank support with aside from Niles and Rhajat.
I am often tempted to try fates as intended with no gay people patch but the idea of playing a game where they’re like “hey! Customize this character to be like YOU! this is YOUR character! now marry a man.” makes me physically ill. impossible task.
someone should make a mod that’s like gay fates but fully commits and just flips all the marriages and friendships. Everyone is only allowed to be gay. Niles and Rhajat can marry female and male corrin respectively but you won’t get Nina or Kana
Dani, so happy to see you being a backbone of Fates on RUclips, 1.5 hours of my hyperfixated FE game is absolutely delightful 🧡

Note this is different from awakening where minus luck can be a detriment and it’s worth considering other banes as your options to limit crit in that game are much lower in the early game. In fates we ball.
Corrin is S Tier due to Fates feet bias
Sauce on the thumbnail pic? It's so cute

As long as the stats hit the minimum of what you need(not doubles, can survive, not 0 damage so enemies still attack into you), which can all be adjusted with tonics(I play on hardware no modifications so meals can be suspect)
You can also get creative with classic ideas like sol ninja, in that we can do sol butler/maid with candidates like Xander with Felicia marriage and laslow friendship.
It's funny because everyone says "rev is bad because the story sucks and there's a bad map early on" but that describes most fire emblem games
watching this so I can pretend I played it
Yippee
Corrin can't use friendship seals. You said they could in your Midori example. That is wrong.
Corrin can use friendship seals. As I explained in the video, corrin is able to friendship reclass to the base class of any same gender unit they achieve A rank support with aside from Niles and Rhajat.
@DaniDoyle Huh. I just went to test that and seems you can. I mistook having no A+ supports meant no friendship seals. Guess I'm wrong.
I am often tempted to try fates as intended with no gay people patch but the idea of playing a game where they’re like “hey! Customize this character to be like YOU! this is YOUR character! now marry a man.” makes me physically ill. impossible task.
That sums up all 3DS Fire Emblem. Anime waifu simulators.
someone should make a mod that’s like gay fates but fully commits and just flips all the marriages and friendships. Everyone is only allowed to be gay. Niles and Rhajat can marry female and male corrin respectively but you won’t get Nina or Kana
@@McKayla24798 I think FE Awakening has that mod, maybe Fates have already got one?
I think you meant marry your sister with the gay fates mod
feet
$20
what does that mean?
@@DaniDoyle It's an off-handed dismissal based on the original price of the DLC.
The cheapest full length FE game in history!
corrin is better than robin because they actually have feet
True! An underrated aspect
