it does fade and change color i have stuff from 20 years ago and it look different. so you should scan your art and save it. thats why i use water colors now because they last alot longer not as long as oil paints.

I am at the part in my artistic journey were I thought this was common knowledge. I better at least mention it when people want to start coloring with markers.

not sure using Yupo "paper" is a good thing environmentally, b/c of the way it/s manufactured... While Yupo paper is marketed as environmentally friendly due to its durability and tree-free nature, its main environmental concern lies in the fact that it's made from polypropylene, a type of plastic derived from petroleum, which means its production contributes to greenhouse gas emissions and its disposal in landfills can take a very long time due to its non-biodegradability; although it is technically recyclable, most recycling facilities aren't equipped to handle it effectively.

Not all dyes have poor lightfastness! Acid dyes on protein fibers and fiber reactive dyes on cellulose fibers are examples of dyes that have good to excellent wash and light fastness. The dyes that are usually used in markers and alcohol ink art are called "basic" dyes. You can buy the dye powder through Jacquard Products and mix it up yourself.

I set my finished alcohol markers illustrations on fire because it’s better to burn out than to fade away.

Hi Thaneeya, I got back into art caregiving and studied a lot of the brain books as well. Have you read Dr. Doidge's books? The healthcare industry doesn't listen to neuroplasticity, because they only believed my mother would get worse. They never contemplated she would at least stay the same or get better, but I proved them wrong. I wrote a graphic memoir, entitled Mom Remembers Me, of how I used my health and fitness knowledge to stop my mother with mild dementia from forgetting me, and it worked. Do you know they use drawing a cube as a neuro test, and Betty Edwards states that nobody can draw a cube unless they are taught, but without any scientific basis for using these as neuro tests, they use them as a way to prescribe and even lock in a lockdown unit. I had a lot of crazy things happen to me while caregiving that were not my mother's fault, but the incompetence and greed of our healthcare industry. In the beginning, I had to fight a nursing home in probate court for 2 months to get her out. They illegally held her for the insurance money. I enjoyed this video and my mother's dementia did "for" me was to get me back into art, when I liked it as a kid, and she used to compliment me, but I didn't think I was good and gave it up in my late teens, and now in my 50's I've picked it back up again.

Is there a consensus on what age it is appropriate for kids to start using the alcohol based markers?
