Everybody vs. Cancer: Dealing With Uncomfortable Emotions
Cancer is a universally bad experience, and no one is rooting for cancer patients to succeed. In spite of this, there are a lot of uncomfortable feelings that cancer patients and their loved ones encounter throughout the diagnosis, treatment, remission or death processes.
The reality is that because cancer is such a universal experience (over 50% of the world will be diagnosed with cancer at some point at their lives), it means that all types of people will have it.
This includes our individual personalities, our support systems, our friends, family, financial situation, mental health, etc.
These are going to be wildly variable, and cancer along with these can compound feelings about life no...

I'm One Year Into Remission From Stage 4 Cancer
Просмотров 593Месяц назад
This stage 4 cancer vlog is a celebratory one, a culmination of many others that have documented my journey as a young adult stage 4 cancer patient. Here's something I wrote about it earlier today: Today, I’m exactly one year into remission from cancer. Again. It turns out that it wasn’t illegal to get cancer twice as I purported between 2019-2023 during my first remission from stage a stage 3c...
May is Skin Cancer Awareness Month: How You Can Help
Просмотров 197Месяц назад
Cancer awareness - specifically skin cancer awareness or melanoma awareness - are incredibly important to me as a cancer patient, and the world as a whole. We have tremendous education around the importance of sunscreen, protective covering, getting your skin checked, and yet still, nearly 10,000 people are diagnosed with skin cancer every day in the United States alone. As a stage 4 melanoma p...
A Bittersweet Cancer Milestone
Просмотров 490Месяц назад
As a stage 4 cancer patient who has survived two advanced diagnoses and gone into remission twice, I have a lot of personal milestones and important dates relating to cancer on my calendar. Theoretically, none would have been as important as 04/24/24. This was supposed to be my 5 year remission mark from my first diagnosis. Unfortunately, life (and being a cancer patient) doesn't always go acco...
11 Months Into Remission From Stage 4 Cancer!
Просмотров 4092 месяца назад
Every day that a cancer patient is in remission is a wonderful existence relative to the alternative. Like any recovery period, remission from stage 4 metastatic melanoma is going to have its ups and downs. The most recent few weeks have been busy and stressful, hence me not being able to post a stage 4 cancer vlog in a while, but I got around to it - albeit with a black eye from playing basket...
Cancer Recovery is NOT Linear
Просмотров 3432 месяца назад
What is cancer recover, anyway? There are a lot of different components to getting 'better' from cancer. Because everyone's individual situation and diagnosis vary, there are lots of things to consider when defining this phrase or experience. It's not just about finishing treatment and going into remission from cancer - that's not necessarily a possibility for everyone, and yet there are people...
PET Scan Results & Happiness in Remission
Просмотров 4912 месяца назад
We get some good news in this stage 4 cancer vlog - but it also is balanced with a tricky mental health situation I've encountered in remission. This is building off a discussion I started in the last episode of this vlog; I mentioned that I wasn't really happy, even though I felt joy and positive emotions throughout my remission. This is because I've been stressed out about cancer scares, and ...
I'm 10 Months Into Remission from Stage 4 Cancer

Every month that I make it into remission is a milestone - and also an opportunity to reflect on how I got to 10 months of remissions and what I should hope for moving forward. Cancer is so volatile and damaging to our lives, that any return to normalcy is welcome - even if it requires more effort than it used to in order to feel like a rational human being. In this stage 4 cancer vlog, I expla...
Can You be Depressed & Happy at the Same Time?
Просмотров 5653 месяца назад
As a stage 4 cancer patient, and someone who has been dealing with the disease for 6 years, depression is a pretty normal thing in my life. Even though I rarely found myself chronically depressed, I have some surefire symptoms or coping mechanisms that let me know I'm drifting towards a less-present and more depressive mindset. While in cancer treatment, it's harder to differentiate. Cancer is ...

I was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic melanoma exactly one year ago today. This was a recurrence of stage 3c metastatic melanoma that I had been in remission from for almost 4 years - not exactly the news I was hoping to get, but hey - that's life. One year ago, I also inadvertently started this RUclips channel and this vlog. It has been an incredible resource for me, and I believe it is help...
Letter to a Cancer Patient: Watch This if You've Been Diagnosed
Просмотров 6813 месяца назад
If you’ve been diagnosed with cancer or someone who you care about has, this letter is for you. I’ve been diagnosed twice in the last 6 years: stage 3c metastatic melanoma in 2018, and a stage 4 recurrence in 2023. That doesn’t make me an expert - nobody’s cancer experience is the same - from diagnosis, prognosis, life situation, treatment plan, and outcome. But I wish someone would have said t...

Mike Linn, so happy for you. Thank you for the vlog. But please be careful about repeated PET scan exposure. The blood and tissue testing is great, but doing PET scans in the absence of any symptoms or markers, can increase chances of mutations and actually cause cancer. Check out Dr Thomas Seyfried on how glucose feeds cancer, especially glucose on radioactive contrast. Also, please consider clean ketogenic eating for the same reason. Possibly even ketogenic therapy to keep this in remission forever. Again, so happy for you! You are so sweet. You deserve a long life of blessings and blessing others.

Hi Mike. I've been watching your story. My husband was diagnosed 2 months ago with metastatic squamous cell carcinoma. Basically HPV that turned into cancer in the L tonsil and spread to left lymphnodes in neck. Set.to start chemo and radiation in a couple days. We are about the same age so your story really inspired me to share with my husband. I'll be honest I'm scared for him to see what he will go through and scared as a family for our young children. Thank you for being so transparent. I'm going to share more of your videos with my Husband, Dave.

Hey Michelle! Sucks to hear about the the diagnosis, but hopefully it is treatable and he doesn't suffer too badly. It's miserable mentally for everyone involved (or at least, a lot of the time), and please make sure to take care of your mental health alongside your children and his. I've found that talking about it is the best medicine for my mental health, but everyone is different - and I mean that for all members of your family. Hoping the best for you, and I'm always here to chat if you want. ❤️

Hi Mike, I’m so frustrated this morning mid treatment and not being able to get rid of this horrible taste in my mouth. The melanoma treatment was so easy compared to the breast cancer treatment. What I find so frustrating about cancer is all the chaotic information about who lives and who doesn’t and to treat or not to treat…to diet or not to diet…you can never make sense or form any patterns about outcomes, I’m not sure if it’s miracles or destinies., I know each persons journey is unique and their own. I’m just so overwhelmed with the bombardment of non stop information, which gives constant anxiety about am I on the right track and doing the right things. What works for some people, doesn’t work for others. Trying to keep calm and heart centered and focused amongst all the fear is the hardest part of this journey. It’s so easy to feel jealous and bitter amongst hard times. 😢

    • @Linn_Laugh_Love
      @Linn_Laugh_Love 20 дней назад

Cancer is unfortunately just an extension of life - there are examples and guidelines, but not usually a ‘correct’ answer that suits everyone. I’ve decided that trusting my oncology team along with trying to live a relatively healthy lifestyle is my best option at health and happiness. I say relatively because I’m not doing any crazy diets - I try to eat very healthy meals for the most part, but I eat sugar or have a drink every now and then. I work out like crazy, drink a lot of water, sleep a lot. I think this helps, but I’ll never truly know. You’re right, the information is chaotic - I try to bring reasonable ideas, but always emphasize that we’re all kinda guessing. Very relatable thought ❤️
