- Cancer has historically been a difficult topic for people to approach - and rightfully so. As a stage 4 metastatic melanoma patient, my goal is to make it easier for myself, my loved ones, and other patients to navigate living with this disease.
I had the privilege of sitting down to interview my oncologist, Dr. Brian DiCarlo, to get his expertise and viewpoint on a number of cancer-related topics.
In this episode, we talk about the humanistic elements of cancer diagnosis and treatment, spanning topics like:
--What to do if you're diagnosed with cancer
--Treatment and lifestyle tips
--Progress in cancer research
--My own diagnosis and prognosis
I hope you enjoyed this - my goal is to make many more episodes like this.
Thanks for watching; don't forget to like/subscribe.

Thank you so much, big encouraged me as a stage 4 melanoma survivor, 2 years ago Dr. hopelessed on me and told me i'm no longer alive ,no more treatment but I trust God I will be healed. Finally my other Dr gives me another chance so right now I'm here. Whenever my mental went down I read my Bible.
Thanks for sharing - patients like you and I are the reason I try to make videos - we need to see other positive examples of success, even if sometimes we know the odds aren’t necessarily in our favor. Hope and mental health are powerful. Sending you good vibes ❤️
Mike...
AWESOME. Thank you always for sharing!
I LOVE when you saidi to your Doctor, " IF iI die, i will haunt you." 👻 That's great ! Your Dr laughed, and I could feel the comfort you have, beyond priceless. How awesome he joined herein this video, says a lot about him for joining and sharing 💕 seems like a great guy!!
Wish my doctor was a little less NOSE UP, my doctkr is SO unpleasant. ,seems rushed and uptight! he has a bad report FOR spending very little patient time. SEEING my Dr every few months drives me into full panic . it's horrible. He's makes me uncomfortables ...leaveing me mentally exhausted and anxious that he has no time for my questions.
Haha, I'll have to haunt his ARS if i die. Lol. That toooo funny! Made my day!!!!!!!!
Thanks for making my day!
Take care
Sendi g love and light 💕

“I expect you to survive this long-term”. Class that mate! 👍👍👍
Immortality or bust 😂
I love that your dr took the time to answer so many questions, you are lucky to have such a great doctor helping you!
He's really a great dude - it makes me feel more comfortable with how I approach living with the disease long-term.
Good conversation 👍
Thanks! Hoping to do many more like this.
Good information, Mike. Dr. DiCarlo's answers were honest, focused and uplifting. Surviving long term sounds like a solid plan. I am sending love, hugs, and good vibes for a cancer-free life.❤
This was extremely interesting, informative and also a bit funny, there was good chemistry between you and the doctor😊.
Hope he's right with your prognosis!
All the best man!💪🏻
Safe to say I appreciate him a lot (and hope his prognosis is accurate). Thanks for watching!
What an amazing video and doctor! How hopeful this mindset from a patient and doctor perspective is. I too expect you to make it long-term! Sending good wishes and thoughts. Until next time....byyyyeee
Thanks! This was super fun to do and having an oncologist who ‘gets it’ makes it a lot easier for me to find hope.
Sending those good vibes back at ya ❤️

Loved this video! I was really encouraged about all the hope about new treatments, etc. I'd love to see some more interviews/perspectives from maybe some other doctors in the practice. This was wonderful. Thank you.
Thank you for doing this video. Your doctor is a fantastic guy who has some great tips for us Cancer patients.
It’s really awesome that he’s willing to do this; I hope to dig into some more complex topics soon.
Great talk Mike, I'm in awe of these doctors. The technology is evolving so fast it's hard to keep up
I appreciate it - and yeah, Dr. DiCarlo and other oncologists are incredible.
Hi Mike, congrats to hear about your news. Such a relief I bet. My name is Jason from Australia and Ive been diagnosed with stage 1 Chronic Lymphatic Leukemia. Ive got 3 kids under 5 and its terrifying to think that i wont be able to watch my kids grow up. Im in the watch and wait phase and its mentally destroying my life. My hemotolgist says that there is no benefit of treatment at this stage and I know its early days but would you recommend coming to America to try early stage immunotherapy. I know its early days but is it fair to think something can be done for me at stage 1 instead of waiting? Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
Hey, Jason! Man… that’s a rough read, and I wish I had a more educated answer for you personally. I would always recommend getting a second opinion locally if you haven’t done that. My instincts are that it’s pursuing other treatment if it’s even remotely possible, but I truly don’t know. I do know that it’s perfectly normal to be terrified and a wreck in your situation; cancer is so, so shitty. I hope you get better answers soon. Always here to chat ❤️
Why cancer is so hard to treat even after so many advancements in medical science isn't that strange?
It's business
