For someone who's 40 something and has eyesight problem,amoled display is definitely the choice.There is no point having a longer battery life but with inferior display which effects ones vision... when you are young having 2020 vision,MIP and amoled display is not much an issue

I sent this feedback to Garmin. I recommend every Fenix 8 user send it too. Fenix 8 AMOLED When the watch is in Red Mode, the flashlight feature MUST automatically switch to the red spectrum as its primary luminous. It should always turn on in the red spectrum first and then offer the option for white spectrum. If at all possible, Red Mode should also offer levels of luminous brightness for the red spectrum and one predetermined intensity for the white spectrum option. If this is possible, then while in Red Mode when the flashlight is activated it should turn on at it's lowest red spectrum brightness setting, with the option of higher red brightness intensity before switching to a predetermined white spectrum brightness option. (Basically the same options offered for the flahlight in white spectrum should be available for red spectrum, when in Red Mode) As it is right now, when you are in Red Mode and turn on your flashlight, it will turn on in the white spectrum. Unless you have turned it on previously to switch it to the red spectrum before activating Red Mode. Having to turn on the flashlight to adjust from white to red spectrum completely nullifies the intention and use of the Red Mode. When in Red Mode, the flashlight should ALWAYS turn on in the red spectrum first. At the very least, the option to choose the light color and intensity should be available WITHOUT having to turn on the flashlight first. Especially when in Red Mode. Enduro 3 for the win! I find it annoying working out with heavy watch.

I think that if they made a watch with a neon four million color display it would be beautiful but what good is that if the battery dies? MIPS is the way to go for true performance. It's good enough for aesthetics but the performance difference is huge. AMOLED is more engaging for sure but the decrease in battery life is a deal breaker. A watch should always be visible. The display should always be on. MIPS

If Elon would be boss at Garmin, he would eliminate the useless interior painted border of the watch and extend the solar panel, or paint the symbols on the panel -> that is a 40% extra surface and improvement in solar charging power!!!

Very nice review of the pace pro. However, at 14:06 make sure you mention that with Always on battery life is 6 days and without Always on 20 days. You reversed the 2 values. All the best.

Not as good as Garmin maps, you say. So one shouldn't buy Garmin Vivo.

How on earth do they get that battery with that display? I almost purchased one of these. Maybe my next watch, they still need to figure out the software side of things, but it is sure getting there.

I loved the Instinct screen and the Enduro 3 is the most similar with a white background. Not a fan of the black background.

Seems like the MIP version is for me! Having to turn on the display every time and having a bright beacon on your wrist at night are annoying enough and the huge battery life difference seals the deal.

Could you test HR accuracy of some Garmin watch when no activity is turned on? I would be very interested how accurate are HR measurements when sensor is in low power mode doing its continuous HR monitoring. For example when sitting, sleeping, walking around the house, doing some chores, etc.

Comes down to your lifestyle. Went with the 51 MIP and have not looked back. I am outside all the time and often in places most tech toys cannot perform without some power backup or network assistance. I am often out days at a time hiking, camping, flying, boating, diving, etc. The extra battery power and ability to recharge in the sun is critical for my lifestyle. If you are active, but mostly city-bound the AMOLED may be better, if you are an explorer and feel better lost than in the confines of civilization, MIP all the way.

For me the best part of MIP is that they feels more like something real/physical. Amoled doesn't feels like watches, more like a monitor or smartphone on your hand. Mip without auto light will show all info depending on light conditions same as old watches. And if I need more light at the evening or night I prefer to manually click the button instead of watch flashing on each hand move. For my 17cm wrist 47 is perfect. And I'm thinking about updating from 7 to 8 mip just because of flashlight. But I'm not happy that it's thicker than 7... Sapfire much more durable than any glass. I have a lot of scrathes on the bezel but noting on the screen on my 7 siphire solar. And in the same time my iPhone have scratches on screen after a week without any hard conditions. Had a lot of screen hits with metal door handles/during car repairing etc - it's nothing for the saphire glass. Bad part of siphire is reflecting. It reflects the light much more than glass and is not so clear because of this. PS: great comparing. Thanks
