Kids nowadays have 0 attention span and aren't able to take fiction seriously anymore videogames let them down and social media took them, they are not getting a good moral foundation anywhere because if it is given, it's extremely babified and condescending

I thought it was a major missed opportunity to not have Guzma and the rest of Team Skull become good guys near the end of the game and have them help you out since they're not actually evil, they're just a bunch of punks. Team Skull was already kind of a departure from the past but I wish they went even harder and just full-on gave them a heel face turn.

Team skull are the worst, I can't even remember why they were in the game due to them being so... Plain ? They're like average trainers just wearing wannabe punk clothes. Can't see what's the problem with team flare, because at least they had a story and objectives. Also their leader being rather friendly to you was through the game was something unusual for a pokemon antagonist

I do feel that Scarlet and Violet did this villain arc a lot better. The leaders of Team Star were bullied and harassed for being different and struggled in the education system resulting in them feeling outcasted, unappreciated, and unwanted. This evolved into resentment and full on rebellion against the academy. However, as you and the Director explore their past, you learn that Team Star’s actually purpose was to give them the feeling of sanctuary, community, and value of their unique passions that they always wanted that the academy never gave them. In the end when you beat Team Star, they don’t just disband and become normal students. The Director rather makes Team Star a unique student program that elevates and utilizes their passions and unique skills in ways that is helpful to the academy and supports their own passions while preserving and evolving their community. One group does not consume the other. The Academy and Team Star combine to become a bigger unit.

For Gen 7 and 8, the true evil teams are The Aether Foundation and Macrocosm(?). I have no excuse for you, Gen 9.

While Team Skull is fine, they unfortunately started the trend of sympathetic goofball villain teams (Team Yell & Team Star). This probably wouldn't be a bad thing, but Gamefreak ended making worse versions of Team Skull in later games. And now many people want actual evil villians back.

I love gen 7 and I get that people don’t like team skull as much as say team rocket but by no means do they deserve the hate they get. Just because they aren’t plotting global destruction doesn’t mean they aren’t good not to mention that their evilness was toned down as to not mess with the aether foundation plot as it makes sense that when they joined forces Guzma was just trying to get payed and it would have been awkward if they both had some crazy scheme or goal admittedly however they are a bit lacklustre at points so though not as good as the gen 3 villains they are by no means bad

I am disappointed that when you said "happy ending" it wasn't ear-ra... with some wobbly filter super over it. But you did call me out. I hate Gamefreak and their writing. But finding out Team Skull stole bus signs so drivers could take a break warms my judgemental heart.

I would also maybe like to offer a bottle to a few points. - Why are the people afraid of Pokemon if they ought to be used to them in their home regions? IMO,b I feel like historians could ask the same thing of the Europeans who had their own wildlife prior to coming to the Americas yet still felt the need to exterminate not only the people all those lands but the creatures that were there with them just because they found them to be a inconvenience. Human fear and prejudice typically leads to irrational thinking and just the mere fact that something is different can warrant all kinds of horrific things in our own world be it murder, racism, or any other thing that I could say about what's currently going on in Palestine. - your actions don't affect the world around you. I think the various missions that you do causes the village to open up a lot more to the point that even The villages theme song starts to sound like Jubilife City's from modern-day Sinnoh. The player is also the only person who's consistently interacting with the other clans and through your feet you caused them to believe not only in you but the cause of the Galaxy team. - why didn't the llama God help us? Based on what I've seen in my second playthrough, it seems like Arceus created a bootstrap paradox. Many people that are part of the tribes talked about an ancient hero whom not only partner themselves up with the noble Pokemon but managed to save the region from some sort of ancient catastrophe. The player effectively ends up becoming that in real time which means that the ancient hero did exist but it's unknown were they originated.

What I personally enjoyed about Legends ( outside of it being a pretty interesting twist on the colonization of the real life Hokkaido) is how will the gameplay loop ties into each other. You researching the Pokemon directly affects the way the characters in Hisui view them and it really builds up the village and changes how the citizens receives them. There's also the tragedy that Sinnioh is a land that has lost so much of its culture because of the intense colonization not only by the descendants of the Galaxy team but even by the culture vultures that are the DP clan

I know i say about something similar to one of your videos but i swear either your rival is edgy, trying to be good (at least gamefreak try to do that to hop) want to battle just for sake of battling, and other things i forgot about (blue get a pass because first he your first rival and second he actually grow up, taking red for vacation, he still asshole but in the way you don't punch his face)

I know this video is year old but i wanna talk about something, out of all modern (started from team flare) i would pick team star and skull (the one from sun and moon) over team yell. Team skull is one of my favorite team and team star is decent because at least it doesn't make me go hair or eyebrows pulling unless team yell. Again for my frustration :/

I always come back to your rewrite of black and whites finale and just how mixed I feel on it. in the context of how black and white is now, parts of it still feel like they come out of nowhere (specifically the pokemon vanishing and the protagonist having a history with N) alongside N suddenly standing up to his dad it just doesn't really line up with base black and white like you implied this ending could work in, lemme explain First of all, i think the Protagonist retcon is perfectly fine, even with the base games stated reason being that your Pokemon loved you, hell, i even think it adds to it as it gives a specific reason as to why YOU specifically gained N's attention outside of the hundred other trainers and owners who had Pokemon that would love their owners unconditionally. now for ghetsis... that denial N does frankly comes completely out of nowhere... mainly due to the fact that outside of this scene. the only other times N and ghetsis are on screen is during the opening and the rally where we first meet team plasma. one has no dialogue and in the other N isn't interesting with Ghetsis I think to make it work there could possibly be scenes where N and ghetsis are say, just trying to talk or working together and showcasing their relationship or simply having N turn away briefly at the mention of him doing something like trying to find him for something from some grunts that show up (like in the ferris wheel scene) and vice versa with ghetis briefly talking about N or stopping N in the middle of his tracks to speak with him in private about some important ordeals and N quickly crumbling. just ANYTHING to make their relationship more than just the characters expositing information that could be shown and not told as for the magic pokemon fading thats... just not how it is remotely set up to be the legendary hero scheme throughout the entire plot is established to be a pseudo status level thing. N is going to free pokemon by becoming the hero and using that to free pokemon himself through a speech that will demand everyone to free their pokemon with plasma even hacking into the PC's to access everyones pokemon and steal them all. so the fading pokemon in as black and white is now? it just doesn't make any sense at all. although it would be a cool setup for PMD canonicity or something. as to making it work you would basically have to rewrite a couple lines of dialogue and remove the science team from plasma and the PC in the castle... maybe. this part im fuzzier on. but yeah, i really like this series man, makes for a cool weekly watch and i cant wait for lusamine and the team skull breakdowns.

Don't misunderstand though, this was intentional. Ghetsis is a master manipulator. He had half of team plasma believing they were truly doing the right thing under N. His team was designed to counter N should he rebel. While he may not be as direct against the player as others, it makes him all the more menacing and mysterious when you finally battle him. He's not there to take over the world in a rematch battle. You already fought N for that. No. He's battling you because he HATES you. He despises you and everything you stand for. He's willing to discard N if he has to, and right now his only goal isn't world domination. It's to *kill* you. The other evil leaders only fight you because you stand in their way of accomplishing their goal. Ghetsis does it because he wants you dead. So much so in BW2 he actually attempts to murder the player ON SCREEN. In ultrasun and ultramoon, he even threats to murder another child after losing to you. N being the face of team plasma is intentional, allowing you to still understand that ghetsis is the true leader as he is the one giving speeches, commands, goals, and is who people report to. He isn't as direct as other evil leaders, because he is a manipulator. He wants to rule, but needs to convince the masses first.

Not done watching the mystery dungeon segment; however your point about the antagonist's appearance subverting expectations initially, reminds me of how in GTI, hydreigon (scary big dragon) is actually the good guy, and munna (little flowery pink thing) is evil or something

AZ: Aka why Game Freak needs to get the hell away from Pokémon because they cannot write for shit. They should seriously only be relegated to music and character design. A series being in the hands of a team purposefully doing little to nothing with characters like N, AZ, and Arven because of their FOMO and force of habit nonsense is absolutely insulting for a medium that is capable of so much more.

You know for a fact if Pokemon Z had been a think they would have at least done SOMETHING more with AZ. Even when I played the game as a kid all I could think was "Why are you here?" If your story is so barebones that even kids can question why things are apparently happening or they feel that nothing is happening, you've done something wrong.

hope legends z-a gives us some more lore. might even take place during or right after the pokemon war.
