    • Pokemon: The Franchise...
    I've seen leaks about the non-linear gyms not having level scaling which sounds abjectly horrifying and 100% in-character.
    The game looks beautiful in the spots where it's trying but nobody's quite surprised by that. Terastal Raids make my eyeballs bleed and I wouldn't have it any other way.
    For the love of god I don't need a motorbike within the first two hours learn some restraint GameFreak.
    I dunno why I thought I could expect a spinoff of merit in the age of MTX Mobile games.
    Thank you Alligator Dreams for coming on with me! He's a good college buddy, much more technical than I could ever hope to be, and I like hanging out with him so I hung out with him and we talked about the new Pokemon.

    This is an old af video and I've been lurking around the channel all day but at 29:30 ish nah you right lol, I've been playing platinum thoroughly lately and following the game play loops around like any other jrpg, and when you do that in a region that has routes that are multilayered and towns that are fleshed out, and its all built intelligently with the landscape, then the region feels open world without building an entire empty giant valley. Its nice to see someone kinda sorta pick up on that instead of "open world therefore better".

    52:20. Here's my prediction for the so-called three plot threads they talked about: It's just a Pokemon game but in more words, and each thread relates to one of those three student characters.
    1) the gym challenge: related to Nemona (green-haired simp girl lol) is your rival. Pretty standard friendly rival who has carpal tunnel by the looks of her wrist brace. Based on the first trailer we know she will carry the Pikachu-clone Pawmi on her team, and now we know that she'll choose the weaker starter from this trailer (take a closer look at the clip with the Pokedex).
    2) the evil team: related to Penny (the shy character who I can't tell is a boy or a girl). Perhaps too similar to Marnie, they have a mysterious past that may have connections in unlikely places. To be fair, at this point we don't know who the Evil Team is, but that colorful bus waving the gym challenge flag is awfully sus.
    3) the Pokédex/terastallization: related to Arven. I'm pretty sure that's you and him kneeling next to a crystal structure sprouting out of the grass in that one fast clip. No further predictions here. His character can go a couple of different ways.

    i just know u get the legends early but they would be such a good late game "item." Like imagine that you'd have to earn points through the treasure hunts to earn a bike, some type of hiker gloves to climb, a drill to demolish rocks, power gloves to push large boulders, surf board, a glider, ect. as like rank up rewards for turning in treasures and only when you get a certain high rank you unlock the ability to capture/befriend the all-terrain legendary. And maybe your only allowed to bring a certain amount of those at a time with the amount you can bring also increases with your rank because you are givin special permissions to do so; hence making the do it all legendary all the more appealing of a prize to get.

    • @TheLudomancer

      That’s a pretty Ace concept. Unlocking and crystallizing the powers of different Pokémon and more or less enchanting tools with it for superhuman feats. Hey, maybe a dark twist about the origin of those crystallized powers being dead Terastallized Pokémon. (Just making fun. It’d be out of place)
      Only fault I can see there is the need to double back to a point to switch them out if you find that you need a specific combination of them.

    • @PokeNarutard
      @PokeNarutard 2 года назад +3

      @@TheLudomancer yeah but thats kinda the point the legendary pokemon serves as a convenience more than anything like when u had to switch the acro and macro bikes or when you needed an different hm slave. Maybe u dont have to go back to the school to get evaluated or switch items maybe theres a person at the pokemon center(?) or an option on the pc

    they kind have done the whole level scaling thing since gen 2 where you can rebattle certain trainers where their pokemon are stronger than before depending on how far youve gotten into the game.

    If I were to be honest, I think the Gyms are locked in a certain level. You can take them as you see fit, but they have the pokemon they now have. This is Gamefreak we're talking about. They are lazy.
    Three stories. Are there generally only three stories or is it three big stories and a bunch of little stories? And you could think that it is like their teck demo PLA, that you get a task, run out, solve it, run back and get a new task.
    We already know they are lazy, hasty and stingy. It wouldn't surprise me if this open world becomes a slur for open worlds. What they should not be.
    Honestly, I don't think this game will live up to The Elder Scrolls ... at all.
    As she says: We've kept all the things we love about pokemon, and given you a new region.
    Of course they can't show plot. They have to have a new plot before they can show it.
    The only thing that can probably save pokemon is a bomb during the administration meeting.
    Time and budget.
    No fan has said they want a game every year, and they only have three years to develop each new generation. It's just their own greed.
    The last big budget they made was... 24 million. 24 for a AAA game. Usually they are around 10-20% of the value of the game. So 24 is sort of closer to zero percent than one percent. If they spent just one percent, it would be a billion. They wouldn't even spend a three-figure million sum.
    Time is money and vice versa. It is the richest franchise in history. They can open five departments just to make pokemon games, each of which has had five years of development. So a new big game every year. So they can afford to buy time, they just don't. What laziness, greed and pride can't do.

    • @TheLudomancer
      @TheLudomancer  2 года назад +5

      As stated, the concept of multiple plots has potential, but if we assume they’re based off of the three classmates, then we’re really restricted to what seem to be very simple archetypes.

  • @TheLudomancer
    @TheLudomancer  2 года назад +5

    I DUNNO WHY BUT THE "aBult viBeo" BOTS ARE ABOUT I'M SORRY! RUclips IS MEANT TO BLOCK THEM AUTOMATICALLY!
    Couple things I misspoke about!
    The one guy whose clothes change between versions is definitely not THE professor like Gigachad and Cavewoman (They have names but I don't care), he's in a vaguely benevolent position of authority like Lysandre, Lusamine and Rose so I think that's enough of a pattern.
    The Legendaries have subtly different designs between the bike modes we see and the boxart forms so there will likely be some form of dramatic evolution. Not sure how they'll handle that to make it interesting because they already look like appropriately designed legendaries in their base forms so Awakening to whatever new power they have is, A) Apparently unrelated to Terastal so maybe there'll be a third one like Eternatus but for Bejeweled.
    B) Kinda dumb because if they're legendary when you get them that's already pretty big and you can't double-dip like that.

    47:00. I personally think that Tera-types are gonna mess up the competitive and shiny-hunting communities. It's unclear if individual Pokemon/Pokemon lines can have ANY Tera-type possible or if a single Pokemon line is limited to a predictable few Tera-types. The thing that makes me think it's the former is the Gardevoir they showed off in the trailer that has a Water Tera-type. Gardevoir can't learn any water-type moves beyond Life Dew, so it's a toss up.

  • @Wasted_AF
    @Wasted_AF 2 года назад +10

    I’m scared that the Tera-Types are gonna be another generic gimmick that’s nearly identical to the previous ones. I’ll never understand why they nuked the ideas of Z moves and Megas. They worked (imo) beautifully together in competitive and had a decent risk-reward to them since it was a 1 time per battle thing and in certain situations with Z moves, they could be made useless by a play from your opponent. Something like Dynamax completely ruined that idea and just gave you more or less the “win now” button

    • @TheLudomancer
      @TheLudomancer  2 года назад +9

      Competitively, I see your point. Not quite my perspective.
      I really enjoyed Dynamax for how special it made the gym fights specifically because of it's scarcity. Your opponent would get their ace mon emphasized by their preferred choice of Gigantamax, the cinematography was brilliant, it fleshed out gyms as a spectator sport because it's just visually awesome to see a big thing duke it out with another big thing.
      It just loses all impact if you can do it every fight and it becomes a repetitive song and dance of unnecessary animation.

    • @Wasted_AF
      @Wasted_AF 2 года назад +4

      @@TheLudomancer I get that. It works wonders narratively in Dynamax’s case by limiting it. It’s also a reason I don’t care for megas/z moves in the main story, since they make every battle really repetitive and uninteresting since they basically become a “win button”

    Love the video. But I think you're issues are you're expecting too much. They have the budget know how and can get more developers to make it pop but ya know it's cut corners GameFreak. This region doesn't seem much different than Galar. I'm just going into it not expecting anything.

    • @TheLudomancer
      @TheLudomancer  2 года назад +5

      Fair interpretation but my standards will not drop. I like some pretty brain-off stuff like Disgaea, Pokémon Ranger and Megaman Star Force. Mainline Pokemon’s typically horribly paced and neglects any form of setup and payoff very consistently. And that kinda makes the floor fall out of an RPG.

    watching this before the genshin impact version 4.1 special program today really emphasized the vast difference in energy between my two favourite franchises. not solidified or drove home or anything, i already knew this. it was just nice coincidence that i found this channel today and the dev update for genshin just happened to be on the same day. pokemon's updates are so lackluster!! they feel empty and condescending and devoid of emotion and most of all, pokemon's devs seem so so so tired. sure both are scripted but even then the devs for genshin deliver their scripted lines with emotion and humility. says so much about the teams working on each game. like one is obviously proud to show what they have! and the other is just here because of contractual obligations for pushing out a hot log.

      I'm personally starting to lose love for pokemon because I'm losing love for the games.
      There is no heart or soul. It's all lazy and just made for money.
      1. They have blamed fans for not bothering to put enough money and resources into the games. Although it is the richest franchise in history.
      2. In the third generation they ran out of excuses for not giving all the pokemon voices. What generation is this?
      3. Their last big game was the third priority and they spent closer to zero percent than one percent, on making the game.
      4. The PLA they have gone ahead and said was a teck demo which they sold at a AAA price.
      5. They are still going after the prime move. Buy a game pay for two.
      It's not complaining for the sake of complaining. Because everyone who still wants to defend Gamefreak…
      Gamefreak does not deserve to be defended.
      I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt. I have done that now and I am disappointed. They did exactly what I feared.
