JCP-12 / PAC-12 Portable Antenna System Review POTA Antenna

My thoughts on the Chinese Loaded Vertical. It has parallels to the Buddipole and Wolf River Coil systems, but has a special twist that makes it yet another great option to have in your arsenal.

I have used this in the dipole configuration, qrp with an IC-705 and got Spain and Portagal. Other then personal observations and biases I don't hear any reasons or proof of your statements where "You should get more for your money." I love this antenna and have used it on 100 watts and 10 watts works great. It worked better when I upgraded to the 18 foot mast, but I have no complaints other then the tap system. That could be better. Thanksgiving week I was in Wisconsin with my buddies stick deluxe and learned really fast in 17 degree weather to set my taps inside before going out. But over all the Buddie stick and pole deluxe are wonderful antennas.

5 watts is a challenge especially with a home brew coax fed (as opposed to balanced line) antenna. There are enough inefficiencies to make 100 watts challenging especially during contests where everyone is QRO with massive pileups. I would like to see what the antenna looks like on a Rig Expert or Nano VNA. I have a Buckmaster 10-80 OCFD which was relatively expensive but very high quality. On my A-55 Zoom, it looks really good except for 60, 30, 15, and 6. Kudos to you for giving it a try. Experimentation to me is what makes the hobby enjoyable. KC5RJL Houston. TX

I spent days trying to figure out why the Wires-X button wouldn't work with my FT5DE. Eventually the penny dropped and I noticed a note in the Yaesu FT5DE Advanced documentation download. It's a pity the normal instruction manual with the radio doesn't highlight this. Now works a treat

And 10 feet up on 10 and 12 meters is 1/4 height and DOES improve all measured parameters for this antenna.
