    I think danya is overestimating how much the chess community cares about what kramnik says. I could honestly give a shit - he’s a good player but a delusional idiot in other ways. I don’t think anybody with a functioning brain thinks danya cheats

    I think it really speaks for him that he trusted for so long that Kramnik was acting in good faith, just “asking questions”. He kept just discussing the content, coming up with arguments and proofs. It’s very sad when you have to conclude someone you respect has lost his ability to listen to reason.

    I see what he wanted to say but I disagree, respectfully! I’ve seen Fabi play some really brilliant games. He is a genius ! His understanding of complex positions and the way he calculates is extremely impressive. He’s the only player who put Magnus to the test in the world championship match with 12 draws in the classical portion. He’s been in top for so many years, and he’s still crushing it in every tournament. If that’s not genius, I don’t know what it !

    Raw chess talent, before one knows anything at all about chess, is going to be an assessment of one's general intelligence with a particular focus on memory and spatial visualization. You could measure these abilities using non-chess related tests even on people with extensive chess experience. Those scoring three or more standard deviations to the right of the norm of the general population will have the raw talent of a world chess champion. Dubov however doesn't have this information, so he bases it off of what he sees as Fabi's playing style. It's not enough.

    I'm a lichess 2200 and I absolutely suck at blitz. Hearing this gives me hope -- maybe it's a learned skill. I spend a lot of time going over openings and transpositions in my head. I can probably throw that out in a blitz game. So that's one. Think only long enough to blundercheck, that's two. Do not search for mate or a won endgame. Oh, there's my biggest timesink: "that's a theoretical/positional error. How do I exploit it again?" It's going to be hard to scrap that, because that's how I win. "Weak light squares, what is the most optimal minor piece setup for me, and the worst for opponent?" And then 30 minutes later I move.

    I think I get the sentiment, sometimes efficiency comes from means that look less efficient. Hikaru taking more time to analyze his position and wincon within those 15 seconds, ends up at the lower time deficit than his opponent because it relieves mental stack/pressure

    • @msqway11
      @msqway11 2 дня назад

      Sry bro but youre literally a m0r0n. Hes saying that hikaru rarely ever thinks for longer than 5 seconds. The one to two times he thinks for 15 seconds had nothing to do with his point, other than as contrast to the rest of the moves which were 5 sec or less. Lol. You can tell because at the end he doesnt say he tries to have one move per game be 15 sec, he says he tries to make each move be 3-5sec. Btw youre not literally regarded, im sorry, but the world would be a better place if people like you just sat down and stopped sharing their inane observations and opinions. ❤️

    I’m 50. I started playing 2 years ago. Why can’t I get better? I’m 1600 rapid, 1200 blitz and I just can’t do bullet, I don’t think that fast. I’ve been stuck at those rankings for about a year. I’m very solid in the opening, then lose my advantage mid game then pull it out end game. But not enough, too many stupid blinders… Btw, I’m not some bozo, I’m a degreed mechanical engineer and business owner.

      I feel you. I've been playing a lot for roughly 15 years. I've watched at least half of all Agadmator's videos and actively follow the top tournaments. I know all the opening basics, all the principles, I think about my pawn structure, bad bishops, exchange sacs, keeping tension, trading down into a winning endgame, etc., etc. My reasoning during my games sounds like what the top commentators and like I should be at rated 2000. I do puzzles. I calculate tactics, I judge positional ideas. But my rating has stayed roughly at around 1000. Depending on the format and the website, my rating varies between 1800 and 500. My rapid rating is roughly 1400. It's completely incomprehensible to me. Also I'm a math prodigy, a pro classical pianist and I speak 6 languages fluently (not to brag, but to emphasize the fact that I do have a working brain). I have no idea why my rating doesn't get better. What Danya is saying is indeed contrary to the advice I have followed. And in fact, without ever having studied openings seriously, I get to a roughly equal middle game in almost all of my games. It always goes wrong when there's a point where I just can't figure out how to improve my pieces even more or to increase pressure. I look for tactics that aren't there, waste time and then crumble under time pressure. I definitely don't seem to need opening theory. That's not where I lose my games. But the path to 2000 rating seems non-existant. And this failure is making me feel horrible. Sometimes on losing streaks, I start to feel like I don't want to live anymore. It's really bad...

      @@arneperschel Its the way our brains work, sometimes i don't think math brains are good chess brains... If you think about it, is chess really a math thing or more a artistic/problem solving thing? having a very fluid mind may be far better than having a structured mathematic mind? Who knows... But... neither of us have been trained, maybe training would unlock something that we cant do by ourselves.
