Hi, hello and stay warm out there!! I'm shivering just looking at the ground there lol. I'm actually a little jealous though, what a great time to read The Indifferent Stars Above! I read it last year based on your recommendation and LOVED it, but I bet it'll hit a lot harder when it's snowing outside too so you can kind of feel what they were going through stuck in those woods all winter. I'm still on Wind and Truth and have about 900 pages left... sigh Happy reading and see ya on the next one!
Oh sorry to reply to myself but I saw that you couldn't change the thumbnail? It looks like this was uploaded as a Shorts and not a video and under those it says... "You can change the thumbnail on the RUclips mobile app" What a pain right?? I hate hate hate when they take away features on a computer and wall them behind an app
A definite pain. Especially since I never directly download/upload from my phone to youtube. I don't even have the youtube app on my phone.
UGH, this platform is such a royal pain in the back side. I hope you enjoy the rest of your 900 pages and that the story is so amazing they just fly by.
@@holt_arr youtube keeps deleting my response to your first comment. i hate youtube. I hate youtube, I hate youtube, I hate the shorts on youtube. Sorry. I hope you enjoy the last 900 pages of your book and that the story is amazing. Hopefully this response will go through and post.
Looks cold out there! 🥶 A lot of fiction this time! And don’t go falling now!
LOL Thankfully, no falling. Ada Blackjack, Indifferent Stars Above, Witches, and Endless Steppe are nonfiction. So half and half. I thought it was a good mix.
I'm a little late, but I have the following prompts to offer: 1. Read a book first published in 1925. 2. Read a book first published in 1825.
Hello and thank you for the contribution to the prompts. I did already print it out, but I removed one and I'll reprint it. I appreciate you leaving a comment and suggestions.
Thanks for the info on the new channel!
The Churchill book and Say Nothing are both on my TBR. I'll have to checkout the others.
Oh very cool. If you finish The Churchill brick of a book, let me know (if you remember), what you think of it. Thank you for dropping in. I love your channel name. =)
Hi, hello and that soup looks so good! I checked out the recipe and saw it needs a coconut milk or cream sauce though and I just can't do those. I wonder if just more stock would work or be just fine without it? Oh and do you grow your veggies? I really really wanna try to figure out tomatoes this year and grow more than just a handful over the season. Thanks for sharing and see ya on the next one!
are you lactose intolerant? I am and don't have any issues with coconut milk. But if you just hate it or are allergic to coconut, a soup stock would be totally fine. I wasn't able to grow anything last year because of the cold/cooler temps we had in the summer time. We've had a really hard time, in the best of temps growing a garden in this area. We had one great garden and that was when I paid way too much money for mulch and I can't find anyone else to buy it from. If you have good soil, I totally suggest trying it. I've been told by a local to use epsom salt to help with the tomatoes. I haven't had a chance to try it yet. We also have the annoying horned worms that eat my tomatoes before I can pluck the fruit. =(
I appreciate that! I'll definitely give it a go soon especially if it's gonna keep getting colder I'm nit lactose intolerant but I really just don't like it, too bitter for my tastes I got a little bag kit of tomato's I've been meaning to try and just need to get some of that fancy bagged soil for it. We did grow a few tomatoes in the standing garden and it's nice to pop some fresh herbs in too
@@holt_arr Was that the garden Jill had jumped onto? I forgot to mention how cool that was, because there's no leaning over or having to be on your knees. We've had good success with basil and oregano. (the oregano has returned ... I think twice now. Hopefully it'll return next year as well. Now you know, you'll have to show your garden when you get it going. 👨🌾🍅
It sure was! I still have no idea what got into her that day lol
What I crave is real food. Since I live alone and have nobody but myself to cook for I can get into a habit of taking shortcuts and not preparing a full meal for myself. But then I'll rebel and demand real food - a full meal cooked by me, not by Lean Cuisine, for example. Now, there's not much wrong with Lean Cuisine and the frozen boxes are good for portion control and knowing exactly how many calories you're getting, but I don't like eating them all the time. And I agree with James that some hospitals have good food. The hospital closest to me has fine food, usually. I think your hospital needed a new cook!
Ha, I think our Cali hospital needed new food. I was even eating junk food back then and didn't eat the food they served. I have heard it's challenging to cook for one. Boxed meals are probably "good" in a pinch, but not for a regular diet. I'm curious enough to go check out the ingredients and nutritional break down. Yes! Like you, I crave real food. Many don't though. Most people crave junk food. There's a doctor I follow and he is hardcore and recommends one ingredient foods. 😂 Obviously those ingredients can be put together, but like I said, he's hardcore. I might mention him in another video. Was it hard to figure out how to cook for one when all of your children left the home?
@@BookZealots Yes, it was hard to adjust to cooking for one. I still make too much food but then store leftovers in the fridge for lunches the next day or two. Reminds me - I have something there now... tofu in an amazing sauce, and mushrooms. It was so good I can't wait for dinner to eat more. I bought a jar of the sauce at Raley's in Yreka.. and tried it last night for the first time. I usually have a spinach salad along with whatever is in the Lean Cuisine box. Checking the fridge: The "amazing sauce" is Romesco by Rhonda... it has almonds, red peppers, olive oil, tomatoes and spices. BTW... my power company is driving me crazy today with loud noises; they are replacing the wood power poles on my street with metal ones. Probably a good idea in case they ever cause another fire.
@@Eldertalk Oh my goodness, your mention of tofu made me think of the tofu "chicken" nuggets I used to get at Whole foods. They used to be good, but then they started to not be that good and we stopped buying them. We live too far away and they're too expensive anyway, but... maybe I should make some homemade. Look what you did. LOL Glad to hear you found a sauceyou really like. Awesome. metal poles? Metal melts. Wires melt. what are they doing? oh, unless it was the "spark" from the wires that caused the pole to catch fire and then spread? Oh but I thought that was a conspiracy?
@@BookZealots Maybe it is some fire and heat resistant metal they use for the poles. I should ask. The fire was caused by a tree falling on an electric line during a windstorm. They were found liable as they had a responsibility to keep all nearby trees cut back enough to not let that happen.
Thank you so much for the mention and hope you all have a blessed Christmas and find some time to read! Stay blessed my friend and great list of books you have picked out.
Hey Rob~ Many blessings to you and yours and a fabulous new beginnings in 2025, if we don't chat sooner. And because of you, I'm looking into learning Greek!
Very few, or actually, no one, believes me when I tell them that our local hospital has the most delicious food! See, Even you don't believe it! My wife works at the hospital and she brings me a serving of whatever is on the daily menu and I am telling you the truth that it is so good! I know, it's hard to believe but it's for real. Red beans and rice, chicken and dumplings, hamburger steak, crawfish etouffee! Oh man, ..wait! Why am I fat!?. I get a plate every evening. Maybe I should wish that it was like other hospital food? But joking aside, the food there is delicious. . Thank you for sharing. -James & Bella!
Wow, I had no idea there were hospitals that truly served real food. I believe you, but I'm gobsmacked! I remember jello and powdered scrambled "eggs" being served. I don't remember any read food. It was just absolutely vile. I wasn't even eating healthy back then. I can only imagine if they tried serving that garbage to me today. And then they have the audacity to charge you for it. Thank you for dropping in and sharing the good news.
@@BookZealots.Now to be transparent, the hospital has a pretty good size kitchen and they have a good size dining area for employees and the public. And actually the food served at the dining area is more cafe style. Probably not the same food that they serve patients? And my wife gets an employee discount so it taste good and is cheap! Take care -James & Bella
If you crave healthy foods when you you living a healthy lifestyle it is because your body intuitively knows what minerals it is deficient in. Intuitive eating, if done right, is also seasonal. The body is amazing.
I agree with you. And eats seasonally? I am not a fall season eater. LOL Most of the foods that are fall foods I don't like or am allergic to. I do not like sweet potatoes for instance. Oh I do like Pears! Yes please. I can tolerate brussel sprouts if they're done right or have a good sauce. hate beets, (my husband loves them), kale (only pulverized in a green juics), parsnips. LOL Autumn is NOT my season. 🤣 Do you have a season like that?
@BookZealots I grew up in a market garden. LOL I had to eat everything, but I loved everything so that was okay with me. We didn't grow our own sweet potatoes so the only time we had them was Thanksgiving in a casserole covered in marshmallows. BLECH! Probably the most unhealthy foods we ate all year. It wasn't until I was an adult and started baking them like a regular potatoe that I realized how much I love them. Rutabega are best raw, cut julienned in a tarragon dressing. Parsnips roasted with or under a roasting chicken. Brussel sprouts with bacon. Ohhh, homemade sourkrout. I need to make more of that. That's great for your guts too and delicious. Yesterday in my giant monalogue I didn't even mention all the benefits of fermented foods. I can talk a lot about food. Have you noticed? :D
@@Fernie4243 What is a market garden? Oh your parents would have been very frustrated with me. I know my parents were. LOL As it turned out, most of the food I hated as a kid, I found out, as an adult, I was allergic to. (except texture of slimy spinach) and the realization that my parents were really back cooks. I didn't like split pea soup, but as it turned out, I didn't like the way my parents made it. Am I the only one in the world who doesn't like brussel sprouts in bacon? when I can afford bacon again, I'll do another test. I had a really hard time reading your comment. It initiated the gag reflex. Just readinig about and thinking of sauerkraut made me gag. When my grandmother made it made, I stayed outside. I don't do well with fermented foods. I can sometimes eat pickles, but they have to be dill, not sweet, and only if I'm craving it. I have heard about all the benefits of fermented foods. My body says otherwise. Do you watch Dr. Pradip Jamnadas, MD? I really like his videos.
@BookZealots we had several acres of vegetable gardens, several of fruit bushes, 5 acres of potatoes and 8-10 of grain. It was a working market people could come and mom would pick whatever people wanted right with them there. A lot of the fruit was you-pick and everyone would bring their own buckets. I'm so sorry I made you gag! 😭 My husband is a picky eater and I make him gag too, though he is getting somewhat better. When I met him he would puck up a Starbucks on his way to work in the morning and then wonder why he was feeling hungry at 10:00 that night, realize he didn't eat all day and run to McDonald's for some nuggets and a coke. Talk about opposites.
@@Fernie4243 First, that sounds like a really cool childhood! How awesome. I only started liking blackberries as an adult, but boysenberries are my favorite. I tolerate blueberries. Bananas have to be just barely green anymore. I suppose I'm picky right along with your husband, but without the fast food. LOL Prometheus has never had mcd's. He doesn't drink soda either. He accidentally sipped his sister's and HATED it. Thank goodness. but yes, you and your husband are opposites. That's funny.
Hi, hello and wow I totally forgot all about Dr Jillian, I used to watch her show on BBC jeez what was that back in 2007? I'm not one to talk about diet or nutrition (obviously lol) but yeah I just believe in moderation and try to have a little bit of activity in your life to mix it up. I believe the biggest hugest factor with health is genetics and there's really not much you can do about that
Hi, hello~ Yes, it was WAY BACK. LOL Dinosaurs had just become extinct. I used to be in the mind set of moderation, but societies moderation of junk food has exploded. I'm going to respectfully disagree with you about the genetics unless you're referring to things like diabetes 1 or something. Diabetes 2 "runs" in my fathers family, because they all eat too much and eat poorly. My dad is a prime example. His doc told him he could get rid of his diabetes if he lost weight. Guess what my dad didn't do. Stupid imo. Medication is a bandaid "solution." Is MS genetic? Supposedly it isn't, but my husband has it and both his parents had it. No one else though. Diet? Or something else? I have thoughts on this. Also, two women on my mom's side of the family were overweight. Today we'd call it obese. I think the BMI charts have changed like women's clothing sizes. Vanity sizes. LOL But I digress. These women were the only two who were overweight. No one else in the family. They ate more food in general, more junk food, and didn't move.
Portions have definitely exploded! It's so crazy seeing meal sizes in say Europe compared to America And a disagreement??? I love it! Lol but serious I suppose when I say genetics (in regard to health) I'm thinking about things like metabolism, bone structure and density, height, blood, organs (is thyroid an organ?), hereditary issues and on and on, the things that you truly have no control over... well unless you involve pharmaceuticals, but let's not assume that everybody has access to those That's why I think it's the biggest factor on your health and longevity. I'm sure you know or know of some little old lady that eats a pecan pie a day and smokes a pack of Lucky Strikes a day but is still normal weight and living to their 70s lol. And then on the opposite end you have guys eating right doing all the right things but having a heart attack at 40. Great discussion! I love when people want to get more involved in taking charge of their health, but I do believe that everybody is different and should always keep looking and trying to find out what works best for you. It's definitely not a one size fits all topic
@@holt_arr LOL I'm going to still respectfully disagree, but now that I understand what you mean, it's partially. You're right, height cannot be changed, blood type and the like. Thyroid issues though, can be improved with diet. My son in law's sister has hashimoto's and she controls it with diet instead of medication. She's the only one in the family who has it, so not genetic. I don't think medication for a lot of health issues is the answer. It usually makes things worse and then more medications are necessary. I do not know a little old lady who eats pecan pies daily. LOL My grandmother was probably the most unhealthy person I knew and she lived longer than she probably should have, but I don't think that has anything to do with her genetics. IF it does, then man, I'm not dying until I'm 120. My goal is 101. Who was that exercise guy on the biggest loser and he had a heart attack? I figured it was the coffee butter bombs he was eating/drinking every day. LOL Did he say it was genetic? He said it was. But, he's also changed his diet. So if he had first changed his diet, then would it have mattered if other ancestors had the gene? I could say the same for my family. Let's say a certain cancer is genetic. If I'm not consuming dairy, then the likelihood of me getting it is slimmer. Because of the growth hormone or whatever. It's been years since I studied it. Dr. Oz admitted the connection in one of his earlier books. Sadly, I unhauled it. Doctors are now acknowledging the gut is the bodies second brain and how important it is to eat healthy so both brains function properly keeping the rest of the body healthy. yes, this is a great conversation. Thank you. I really appreciate it. Oh, and about metabolism, that can be changed. It's not set. =) Absolutely, everyone is different. Didn't I say that in the video? People need to find out what works for them? I'm not going to chastise a vegan for not eating meat, but I certainly hope they work extra hard at getting their vitamins and minerals they're missing out on. You're also absolutely right that one diet doesn't fit everyone. Thank you again. 👍👍
Mercy, mercy please! I yield! I'm way out of my depth here but I do appreciate getting schooled lol
@@holt_arr Nooooo, I wasn't schooling you. We were having a great discussion. I'm sorry. =(
Hey RUclips, how about you stop shadowbanning people's comments!
@@BookZealots Hello. Thank you for replying! Yes, my general understanding is that God instituted the sabbath so that man could rest for all their work on the seventh day (Saturday). This rest IS forever but now that we have Jesus we have a “spiritual rest” from our “work” (working to be right with God) we don’t have to do that anymore because Jesus did it for us. Our sabbath is eternal but it is resting on Jesus. So it was moved to Resurrection Day Sunday to signify this new rest from our work of spiritual striving. See Hebrews 4 on this topic.
@@BookZealots RUclips deleted my reply! Hello! Yes, my general understanding has been that God instituted the sabbath so that man would rest from all his WORK on the seventh day (Saturday). But after Jesus rose we now have a “ spiritual rest” from all our WORK ( striving and trying to be right with God by our own strength) because Jesus did ALL of that for us. So we now have rest in him. So our ETERNAL sabbath was moved to Resurrection day Sunday to signify this. Yes it is forever! See Hebrews 4.

“Sabbath” technically speaking is Friday at sundown until Saturday at sundown. This is what the authors are saying they discontinued after the Resurrection.
Hello! The platform shadowbanned your comment and then deleted my response. How rude of them. Yes! I agree with you on the day of the Sabbath. It is according to the Jewish "day" as you explained. Gold told his people to keep the Sabbath holy forever and in Acts is shows the disciples continuing to observe the Sabbath; even Paul when he became a follower of Christ. At what point did they stop? Because if gentiles are grafted in and are now part of the tree, and even guests or strangers must observe then we should also be observing. Right? If you have some verses I'd love to know them and study them. I haven't done a deep dive on the subject, but forever means forever. I appreciate you commenting and hopefully this response will go through.
When my youngest was injured by too many pokes and diagnosed with autism, I found the book "Healing The New Childhood Epidemics: Autism, ADHD, Asthma, and Allergies:The Groundbreaking Program for the 4-A Disorders" I really believed the power of food to heal. Two great cookbooks that go into this but not so detailed as the first book I mentioned are "The Kid Friendly ADHD & Autism Cookbook" and the "Spicial Diets For Special Kids". Then I discovered how healing herbs could be, both culinary herbs we all have in our kitchen as well as common weeds in our yards. "Alchemy of Herbs" by Rosales De La Foret is a great starter book, or if you are more ambitious on the subject go straight for Rosemary Gladstar. Then I found Dr Dale Bredesen MD's "The End Of Alzheimer's The First Program to Prevent and Reverse Cognitive Decline". Amazing and it works. A friend had her mom following a lot of these principles and didn't tell the doctor until he asked what she was doing differently (she was improved in almost every way). I have more books and considered making a video but my husband, who does not take my health advice, brought home a bad cold and shared it with me while I was trying to make him better.
Read a book with some type of furniture on the cover. I think that would work really well for either fiction or nonfiction. Read a book originally published in a language other than english, or read a translated work. In honor of me (just kidding!😂) - read a book set in Mexico or about Mexico. And let’s not forget our friends to the north - read a book set in Canada or about Canada.
LOL Of course in honor of you Angie. 🤗 Thank you for posting your prompts. I really appreciate the contributions. Do you have any recommendations on books set in Mexico? (not the Pearl by Steinbeck. LOL)
I think laughter promotes health. Also peace and joy. I've been told so many do's and don'ts about food now, I tend to ignore them all unless the Lord puts it on my heart to change something about my diet. So many of the health books are common sense. I read one maybe once a year, as a reminder.
In a book I mention in the description box in another video, it talks about the connection of diet and depression. I agree with you. Laughter is great medicine. And when someone doesn't feel like laughing the diet might be a culprit. A lot of the "health" books should be read with great discernment. Some have common sense and many do not. I'm happy to hear you have your health all worked out. 🤗
@@BookZealots There's room for improvement. It gets more complicated as we get older. I used to have great health. Praise the Lord. It was a great time. But so many people are beset with serious health problems I think I was just lucky in that way (whereas in other ways I was not.)
@@Eldertalk I agree. That is so good you had great health. But you put that in the past tense. =( Our food is such garbage today and I think that plays a huge role in the health issues today. At least the bulk of the health issues. I've read and heard from doctor's online that this younger generation will be the first that doesn't outlive their parent's. Yikes. I think I read it last night. I glossed over it, because I've heard it so many times, but it was a book by Dr. Mercola. We eat garbage and sit our backsides all day, watching mind numbing videos that don't work our brains, why are people surprised? You have art and that is great for keeping your brain active. So many people are getting dementia and the narrative is, "old age" but more and more doctors are saying it's diet. I think prescriptions for other ailments might play a role too. And I won't get started on diabetes 2. LOL 202 to better health

Oh my goodness so many amazing prompts. Thank you! I haven't calculated them all, but your contribution was a huge help. There a few I am struggling with. Books less than three dollars but can't be library books? None of my used books are less than three dollars. =/ ....oh wait. I might be able to find one I got for free. It was from the library though, but I don't think it was a library book. Would it count? So many of the prompts I was sharing with Prometheus and I would say, Do I even have a book with "xyz?" and he would say yes. LOL I need to have the bingo prompts in front of me while I take inventory this month and write titles next to them. 📚🤗😁
@@BookZealots You're welcome. 😊 Re: book under $3. I should have clarified "not a library loan." So, even a library book you acquire for free or at a library sale because it's been removed from circulation would count. Also, any book you have received as a gift would work. I'm enjoying your enthusiasm as you come up with your 2025 reading plans! 🤗
@@ThisLittleLightLife Oh that opens up so many options. LOL Thank you for the clarifcation. Thank you. I really am excited for the new year's reading options. I have some new ideas I'd like to share on the channel. You win the award 🏆for the most submitted prompts. 🤗
A book with a pun in the title A book with a one-word title A book with a funny name
Thank you very much for your prompt recommendations. The pun is going to be a challenge. I think I have one, but I've already read it. I'll be perusing my inventory and if that fails me, the library!
Read a book placed in Africa. Read a biography of someone you don’t like/respect/agree with. Read another Pearl S. Buck book. Read a collection of short stories. Read a book about midwifery. Read a book where animals are an important component. I look forward to seeing what you come up with 🙂
The animal book is probably going to be the most challenging of the prompts you suggested. First I thought it would be a Pearl S. Buck book, but thankfully my library has a few. LOL whew, that was a close call. thank you so much for your contribution. 🤗
Hi, hello and what a time to be creatively-challenged! I was thinking of some ideas while watching and hmm lemme try to flesh them out - The #1 book on the NYT bestseller list in, let's say..., March 2025 - The #1 book on Amazon Charts list in, let's say..., September 2025 - A book about a disaster in the USA that you've never heard of (for this I just searched for American disasters and found a very big list on wikipedia) - A book set in Kentucky during the 1800s - Ummmmmmmmmmmmm That's all I got, I wish there was more creativity here lol. I'm excited to see the 52 piece bingo card you come up with though! Take care and see ya on the next one
I have so many questions. First, I should have said, I can't buy any new books. Do you hate me? 🤣Do you know I avoid "bestseller lists?" I have a feeling I'll be hate reading, but I'll only be able to read them if my library has them. How do I check amazon charts? Do I have to have an account to access it? These are challenging indeed! Well done. Thank you.
So many questions! I thought you'd get a kick out of the best seller list idea lol. I actually surprised myself this year with doing that exact thing when I picked up the Fourth Wing and ended up enjoying it l, so that's why I threw it out there. But I totally get it, if like the #1 best seller in March is some generic Reese Witherspoon/random celebrity book club selection I'd probably be grumpy too! The Amazon list can just be found if you search for something like "Amazon top reads list" and no purchases necessary I'll see if I can think of something to where you don't have to buy anything or wait for the library
@@holt_arr sounds good. I have the prompts on the list. Maybe if the library doesn't have book one, I can go down the list until I find one the library does have? Same with Amazon top reads list? Thank you for that information.
Oh I like that! I'm sure there's something in the top ten lists that should appeal to everyone
@@holt_arr I want the challenge, so even though I'll complain about it, I'm still going to aim for #1 in March NYT and Sept. Amazon.
A book with the word mirror in the title. A book with a part of the body in the title. The word black or white in the title. A space ship on the cover. One where the main character has a pet. A book that was first published in Japan. A book first published in the 1600's. One with a number in the title. A book about a book. An old science fiction book about the future and the date has now passed. One with a character smoking on the cover. A book where the action takes place aboard a ship. A book with a notable spelling mistake. Best wishes and happy reading. I hope you and your family have a great Christmas!
Hi Nigel~ Oh my goodness you have a lot of challenging prompts. A book first published in Japan?! I don't even know where to start. Would that count as a translated book? LOL I don't want to double dip, but science fiction? aaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh, you're killing me Smalls. I will have to go through my inventory and see if any of my books fit your prompts. This is going to be challenging indeed. Thank you. Prometheus took his calculus final today, so we can work on the tag you tagged us on. It's your tag right? He starts Calc 2 next month, but he has a small break. =) Hooray.
@@BookZealots Happy days for you and your son. For a book published in Japan, Hagakure? The book of the Samurai or Musashi maybe?
@@ReadingIDEAS.-uz9xk Thank you. I don't own a lot of books that would fit the prompts. Prometheus thinks he has one for published in Japan. And it was published in 1645, so I might have to double dip. I have a book that was originally published in the 1600's, but the original doesn't exist. Oh, there are conflicting dates too. =/ We are sure to chat before the end of the year, but from our family to yours. may you all have much laughter, good health, solid housing/warmth, and delicious food.
A book published the year you were born A book in a genre you don't normally read
Hello~ Thank you for your prompts. I really appreciate them. =)
Translation Penguin First Lady Tragedy Gold Latin Word 5 Star You'll have to post your bingo card when you make it so we/I can try it. :)
What is a five star? A book I read and think it's a five star? Ooh! I have a book that has a Latin word. It's a new book too. Thank you so much for all of the prompts!!!! What is Penguin? A book published by Penguin or a book with a penguin? 🤣 I'm guessing it's the previous one. Gold? A gold book? Can I paint it? I have gold paint..soommmee where in this house. I probably put it someplace smart. I absolutely love your idea to share the bingo with you all. Thank you. I didn't think anyone would be interested in participating. I will absolutely share it.
@BookZealots most prompts I've seen given have a rule you can be creative on how you use them. E.g..first lady could be about a president's wife, Eve, or a female winner of a race. Let me know if you need more. Cold: milkshake, temperature, winter, or personality
@@Fernie4243 Thank you for your help Fern. I am hoping to do each prompt individually and not double dip; use on book for multiple prompts. That way I will read 52 books. There are so many and I'm even more excited now. LOL How is that possible? I'm working on the bingo and will share it next week. There will be two "bonus" spaces, to make the bingo an even rectangle. I thought about making two lines longer to make those lines more challenging. Maybe another year.
52 prompts? Can you Please explain? Thank you -Bella
Good morning Miss Bella, it's so nice of you to drop by. I need 52 ideas (bingo prompts), to give me ideas on what books to choose for each week of the new year. For instance, Read a book that has a red and white cover. Or read a book that is about another country. Things like that. But viewers get super creative, much more than I ever could. so I'm needin' everybody's help. Miss Erion
@@BookZealots..Oh, I understand now! How about you read a book about, wait for it..... ....A Dog!

YOU CAAAAANNNNN DOOOOO IIIIIT!!! =)
easier to find a good mechanic than a trustworthy doctor. Its become a trend for USA citizens to fly to other countries in order to get decent healthcare.... not talking about expensive medical procedures but decent general practitioners. Embarrassing state of affairs.
That's a fact. It is deplorable. We need to remove the ins. co and make things affordable again. There's no reason an aspirin should be $100. I no longer allow gen. practitioners to practice on me. Especially when they follow my health advice. 🤣 I read The Fountainhead. It ended up being a re-read. I obviously got a lot more out of it this read. It's such a strange book. None of the characters are likable. The writing isn't superb, but it's intriguing. I am really on the fence about it. I wonder if this is how Twain felt about Austen?
@BookZealots I knew you would have an interesting take on that book.... or DNF it. I'm still reading it (way behind on all my reading) and I'm getting a lot out of the re read that flew over my head the first time.
Ummmm did you mot hear the alarm? I end my fast I don't care what I'm doing...it gets put on hold and I go eat. 😂
🤣 sometimes I do that. Sometimes I am cooking before my alarm goes off so I can eat as soon as it does go off. (depends on how hungry I am and how long the fast was for). You're hilarious.
@BookZealots good I can add you to the people I always tell my wife who think I'm funny when she doesn't. Lol I guess the jokes aren't so good after 30 years. 😂
@@FacelessBookReviews Yep, add me to the list. Did she used to think you were funny? My husband still makes me laugh, but our son has surpassed his wit. (they're similar though).
@BookZealots yeah she use to but ahe thinks like you... My son is wittier. 😂
@@FacelessBookReviews Has she told you this? I would never tell my husband this. He's grumpy and knows I have a better relationship with our kids. Why does your wife think you son is wittier? For my son he's more knowledgable of so much! And he can make jokes of everything. He's working on winter songs. As soon as his calculus final is over, he'll work on that and film it. Hopefully we can get it posted next week. (you're in the know). How old is your son?
The First Ladies books are right up my alley. I’ve heard the Margaret Truman is really good and I’ll have to look for the grant - Twain book. I have Mary chestnuts diary. It’s chunker. Is it the same chestnut civil war lady. I was looking at a Margaret thatcher and a Golda book but didn’t get them. I’ll ad the Fillmore book to my presidential reading challenge. Heidi on my reading life stated it’s hard to find books on some of the presidents. She’s all the way up to Truman but she’s been doing it since 2013. I think I have the Louisa allcot and her dad book. I want you to get to the layette book too. Jack the Ripper awesome. I’ve read quite a lot on him and several in the victims. Kentucky women book interesting. I just bought capital dames by cookie Roberts. It’s about the women who stayed in Washington from 1848 to 1868. You have on that color again which you look fantastic in.
Thank you for all of the information on the books and encouragement, 🤣 to get to Lafayette. I'll peruse page counts and see how I can put the piles in a flexible plan and see when I can put the book. I can't do Jan/Feb because of the beasts I already have planned. Maybe March? I don't think I've ever read a book on Jack the Ripper. Supposedly "jack" has been revealed via dna, but I haven't researched that. And I'm doubtful. I've only read one book by Cokie Roberts. I hope you enjoy the one you have. LOL The shirt I have on today is purple. The sweater though is more like a weird magenta shade. I'll wear purple more often. =) Do you have any idea which books you want to read for next year?
@ I’d like to get to the book on Mao. I know nothing about him. I am eagerly waiting for us to get to Truman and John Adams by McCullough in our read along. They’ll count in my presidential reading challenge. I’m still in the Washington book. I’m gonna try to make more of a headway into that and do more on my civil war generals biography reading. I have so so many I want to read. I’d like to read more on Indian history and biographies. I read somewhere they thought Jack the Ripper may have been queen Victoria’s son or nephew I can’t remember which. It would be amazing if they could figure it out. I’d really like to purchase and read Henry V by Dan jones.
@@user-iz6cc6lz3j-Vickie Mao is extremely dense. I would read four pages and it it felt like 50. Prometheus finished it and wanted me to read it. I did not finish it. I think you'll enjoy John Adams. I know I've already said this. the person revealed was not Victoria's son or nephew.
@ Aaron Kosminski. A barber. I looked him up sounds like a guy with a lot of mental issues and homicidal tendencies. A good candidate to be the ripper. The one I was thinking about was prince albert Edward victor queen Victoria grandson who a lot of people thought did it. I read years ago Patricia Cornell’s book portrait of a killer where she thought Walter sickert, an artist’s Jack was the murderer. I also read where it was thought. H H Holmes who was the murderer in devil in a white city by Erik Larson was the ripper. It’s fascinating. After all these years no one knows who it is. Will we ever know? I sure hope so. Its like Lizzie Borden, did she do it or not? Her sister quit speaking to her. Was it because Lizzie told her she did it? I live reading all this kind of stuff. Is mao more dense than napoleon.
@@BookZealotsis it the same mao I bought recently at McKay’s. Is it as dense as napoleon. I like Napoleon but only bread a little at a time. All the suspects for Jack the Ripper. The suspect I was thinking of was Prince Albert Edward Victoria queen Victoria grandson who a lot of people think it’s him. I looked up the guy you mentioned. Aaron Kosminski. I know Patricia Crowell in her book portrait of a killer thinks it’s Walter sickert an artist. A lot of people also think it’s H H Holmes the killer in devil in a white city. They think he was there at the time of the murders. Will we ever know. No I don’t think so but all us curious minds want to know. Just like Lizzie Borden did she or didn’t she. I’ve read a lot about her. Her sister quit speaking to her. Was it because Lizzie told her she did it ? I want to know!!!! Inquiring minds!!!! I hope you ripper book has some suggestions on who it might be. I can’t wait to get to John Adams as everyone says it’s one of the best biographies
Hi, hello and what a TBR already! I think the last one seems very interesting. Lots of serious books though, and no chick-lit on your 2025 list?? I kid I kid lol My 2025 is most likely (99.7% likely) going to be a big re-read year. I'm thinking Lonesome Dove, Lord of the Rings, all the Joe Abercrombie (PLUS a new one at some point next year!) so that should be plenty to get me started for a few months I'll still get the new releases of my regular authors though. The new Reacher, the new James S.A. Corey, maybe the Lucy Foley we'll have to see the reviews first But yeah fun stuff and I still cannot believe the year is almost over. Take care and see ya on the next one!
Hi, hello ~ It's crazy how fast the year has gone by! Thanks for dropping in and sharing your thoughts on my TBR. chick lit. =P LOL And your tbr is growing quickly. 📚📚
My husband likes the wisdom of Thomas Sowell.
thank you Tanya. I'll have to add that one to my wishlist. 📚
We have most of those books Rob P. Had on his reading list. My husband read them when we started homeschooling or maybe just before that, but I don't think I've read any of them. I started The Republic a few times. I think it's a mental thing, because I've read other Plato works, but this is the one everyone talks about being a difficult read. Generally, I don't find books "difficult", I find them a "slower read"; they take more time. I need to just do it. Besides that, I have 10 Dickens books left, 2 Dostoevsky, I'm thinking Anna Karenina this fall...and all the classics stacked under my chair that don't fit on my shelf, my bookshelf, our small library, our big library, and the books I want to steal from my husbands pile. 😂
Wow you have a lot of books to get to. It's a good "problem" to have.
I think the Kentucky Women sounds fantastic. A few years back (many, actually) I read a similar book about women in Kansas, and really enjoyed it.
Oh that's excellent. I wonder if it's a series for all of the states? I have to run, but I'll try to research it. Thank you for sharing.
@@BookZealots - no, it wasn't a series book... the book I read was "Pioneer Women: Voices from the Kansas Frontier," by Joanna L. Stratton. She found letters in her grandma's attic, or something like that. The grandma had advertised for Kansas women to write to her about their pioneering experience, and many did. When Joanna found the letters many long years later, she put them together in a book. It was really fabulous, in my opinion. It told about pioneering life from many different angles. I think it was a book I picked up in a bookstore, probably back in the 1980's.
@@Eldertalk That sounds so fabulous. I can imagine how Joanna must have felt when she found the letters in her grandmother's attic. =) So exciting. thank you for sharing.
When I first saw your video, I thought its the review of Ishmael Beah's Long Way Gone, haha. The name looks alike. I'm impressed as of how you even find the time to read all of these books. Haha. And yes, young adult isn't much I have seen you talked about. I looked the author up, I read he is American but he looks Jamaican with his hair. Maybe he is Jamaican American. I would like to share my fundraising link with you. I would have shared it with you if I have your email, I don't know if I can leave it here. I was recently endorsed by the Art Council of England under Global Talent as an "Exceptional Talent" in the field of literature. What that entails for me is an official invitation from the Art Council to come live and work in England for the period of 5 years, dedicated to literature. It's a great opportunity and I'm honored to the Art Council to have spotted me and find me worthy of this endorsement, but as impressive as it is, it's costly to pursue, it's a self sponsored endorsement, one that I need to bear the cost. That's why my friend, Doug Wheeler, helped me organized a GoFundMe Campaign, I've been sharing it with my circle of friends and we've been able to raise 3180 out of 6800. I remember when this was making its rounds but I never read it. I've recently found the graphic novel and might try reading that. I wonder how different that will be.
GASP! HELLO! Oh my goodness I miss you. it's so good to see you. I was not even aware there was a graphic novel of the book. Even more so now, I hope more of the youth pick up his book. It would be interesting to know if they are different. The graphic novel might be good for the youth who struggle reading and are visual learners to see the pictures though. The book surprised me. Even though I knew what it was about their were a few things that surprised me and missed the boat of when it went around or was popular. LOL Thank you for dropping in and leaving a comment. I miss your videso and you and I was just talking to my son this past week about how so many people who were on booktube when we first started have gone away. =( I understand though. Life. 🤗
Hi, hello and speaking of health crazes I remember back in the 90s when my mom was obsessed with trans fats lol Unfortunately I like my treats too much so Im stuck with the corn sugar
Hi, hello, did I mention a health craze in the video? I don't recall. Your mom was smart to avoid foods with trans fats. Interestingly a lot of high in trans fats also contain HFCS. Be careful, gallbladder issues, NAFLD, and NASH. Who knows what all else.
Hello and I was mistaken you did not! Sorry about that didn't mean to imply anything, I was just comparing the HFCS "craze" to the trans fat one I remembered way back when. Even to this day I'm still shocked when I see trans fats listed in a food thanks to my mom's badgering!
@@holt_arr No offense taken. Is the HFCS craze happening now or has it already passed? I know there was a push for awhile trying to make it seem as though it was healthy. Was that in 2012? Around then? I remember being frustrated, because it's a flat out lie. Honestly, I think the ingredients tell us the bigger pictures and then I'll look at amount of grams of sugar in a serving size.
I think it's passed and we're just stuck with it unless something really big changes. Don't wanna get too into politics but it's interesting that RFK Jr said he wants to get rid of it and go back to real sugar, but we will see! I do remember seeing one really weird and out of the blue pro-corn/corn syrup ad a few years ago and when noticed when it was over there was the really tiny text saying "sponsored by corn suppliers of USA" or something along those lines lol
@@holt_arr getting back to real sugar would be better. I hadn't heard RFK jr had said that. I think the companies should have the option and I think we the people should have the choice. If I can buy something that has sugar versus the hfcs, I'm going to buy the sugar option. It's the lying I dislike more than them using the horrible ingredients. (not just hfcs). I think the companies should be forced to be honest and transparent. it might make people less likely to buy the products, but that's the point. We don't have tv, so I didn't see any of those commercials. Sadly, our food companies are corrupt and too many people have their hands in everyone's pockets. Politicians should not be involved in the eff dee ay or the you ess dee ay companies. I'm not in agreement with that one ... who was he. some politician in NY who wanted to control people not being able to drink soda. I don't think that's the answer. But so many things need to be fixed. I want to know and then I can make my own decision. I certainly don't want anyone in the gov telling me what I can and cannot eat. Like being forced to eat bugs or faux meat. blech.
