Thank you so much for the mention and hope you all have a blessed Christmas and find some time to read! Stay blessed my friend and great list of books you have picked out.
Hey Rob~ Many blessings to you and yours and a fabulous new beginnings in 2025, if we don't chat sooner. And because of you, I'm looking into learning Greek!
We have most of those books Rob P. Had on his reading list. My husband read them when we started homeschooling or maybe just before that, but I don't think I've read any of them. I started The Republic a few times. I think it's a mental thing, because I've read other Plato works, but this is the one everyone talks about being a difficult read. Generally, I don't find books "difficult", I find them a "slower read"; they take more time. I need to just do it. Besides that, I have 10 Dickens books left, 2 Dostoevsky, I'm thinking Anna Karenina this fall...and all the classics stacked under my chair that don't fit on my shelf, my bookshelf, our small library, our big library, and the books I want to steal from my husbands pile. 😂
Hi, hello and what a TBR already! I think the last one seems very interesting. Lots of serious books though, and no chick-lit on your 2025 list?? I kid I kid lol My 2025 is most likely (99.7% likely) going to be a big re-read year. I'm thinking Lonesome Dove, Lord of the Rings, all the Joe Abercrombie (PLUS a new one at some point next year!) so that should be plenty to get me started for a few months I'll still get the new releases of my regular authors though. The new Reacher, the new James S.A. Corey, maybe the Lucy Foley we'll have to see the reviews first But yeah fun stuff and I still cannot believe the year is almost over. Take care and see ya on the next one!
Hi, hello ~ It's crazy how fast the year has gone by! Thanks for dropping in and sharing your thoughts on my TBR. chick lit. =P LOL And your tbr is growing quickly. 📚📚
@@BookZealots - no, it wasn't a series book... the book I read was "Pioneer Women: Voices from the Kansas Frontier," by Joanna L. Stratton. She found letters in her grandma's attic, or something like that. The grandma had advertised for Kansas women to write to her about their pioneering experience, and many did. When Joanna found the letters many long years later, she put them together in a book. It was really fabulous, in my opinion. It told about pioneering life from many different angles. I think it was a book I picked up in a bookstore, probably back in the 1980's.
@@Eldertalk That sounds so fabulous. I can imagine how Joanna must have felt when she found the letters in her grandmother's attic. =) So exciting. thank you for sharing.
The First Ladies books are right up my alley. I’ve heard the Margaret Truman is really good and I’ll have to look for the grant - Twain book. I have Mary chestnuts diary. It’s chunker. Is it the same chestnut civil war lady. I was looking at a Margaret thatcher and a Golda book but didn’t get them. I’ll ad the Fillmore book to my presidential reading challenge. Heidi on my reading life stated it’s hard to find books on some of the presidents. She’s all the way up to Truman but she’s been doing it since 2013. I think I have the Louisa allcot and her dad book. I want you to get to the layette book too. Jack the Ripper awesome. I’ve read quite a lot on him and several in the victims. Kentucky women book interesting. I just bought capital dames by cookie Roberts. It’s about the women who stayed in Washington from 1848 to 1868. You have on that color again which you look fantastic in.
Thank you for all of the information on the books and encouragement, 🤣 to get to Lafayette. I'll peruse page counts and see how I can put the piles in a flexible plan and see when I can put the book. I can't do Jan/Feb because of the beasts I already have planned. Maybe March? I don't think I've ever read a book on Jack the Ripper. Supposedly "jack" has been revealed via dna, but I haven't researched that. And I'm doubtful. I've only read one book by Cokie Roberts. I hope you enjoy the one you have. LOL The shirt I have on today is purple. The sweater though is more like a weird magenta shade. I'll wear purple more often. =) Do you have any idea which books you want to read for next year?
@ I’d like to get to the book on Mao. I know nothing about him. I am eagerly waiting for us to get to Truman and John Adams by McCullough in our read along. They’ll count in my presidential reading challenge. I’m still in the Washington book. I’m gonna try to make more of a headway into that and do more on my civil war generals biography reading. I have so so many I want to read. I’d like to read more on Indian history and biographies. I read somewhere they thought Jack the Ripper may have been queen Victoria’s son or nephew I can’t remember which. It would be amazing if they could figure it out. I’d really like to purchase and read Henry V by Dan jones.
@@user-iz6cc6lz3j-Vickie Mao is extremely dense. I would read four pages and it it felt like 50. Prometheus finished it and wanted me to read it. I did not finish it. I think you'll enjoy John Adams. I know I've already said this. the person revealed was not Victoria's son or nephew.
@ Aaron Kosminski. A barber. I looked him up sounds like a guy with a lot of mental issues and homicidal tendencies. A good candidate to be the ripper. The one I was thinking about was prince albert Edward victor queen Victoria grandson who a lot of people thought did it. I read years ago Patricia Cornell’s book portrait of a killer where she thought Walter sickert, an artist’s Jack was the murderer. I also read where it was thought. H H Holmes who was the murderer in devil in a white city by Erik Larson was the ripper. It’s fascinating. After all these years no one knows who it is. Will we ever know? I sure hope so. Its like Lizzie Borden, did she do it or not? Her sister quit speaking to her. Was it because Lizzie told her she did it? I live reading all this kind of stuff. Is mao more dense than napoleon.
@@BookZealotsis it the same mao I bought recently at McKay’s. Is it as dense as napoleon. I like Napoleon but only bread a little at a time. All the suspects for Jack the Ripper. 🤣 sometimes I do that. Sometimes I am cooking before my alarm goes off so I can eat as soon as it does go off. (depends on how hungry I am and how long the fast was for). You're hilarious.
@BookZealots good I can add you to the people I always tell my wife who think I'm funny when she doesn't. Lol I guess the jokes aren't so good after 30 years. 😂
@@FacelessBookReviews Yep, add me to the list. Did she used to think you were funny? My husband still makes me laugh, but our son has surpassed his wit. (they're similar though).
@@FacelessBookReviews Has she told you this? I would never tell my husband this. He's grumpy and knows I have a better relationship with our kids. Why does your wife think you son is wittier? For my son he's more knowledgable of so much! And he can make jokes of everything. He's working on winter songs. As soon as his calculus final is over, he'll work on that and film it. Hopefully we can get it posted next week. (you're in the know). How old is your son?

I think the Kentucky Women sounds fantastic. A few years back (many, actually) I read a similar book about women in Kansas, and really enjoyed it.
Oh that's excellent. I wonder if it's a series for all of the states? I have to run, but I'll try to research it. Thank you for sharing.
