I found a beautiful old copy of Kidnapped at the library sale shortly after you posted it on Goodreads. I almost picked it up the other day but you posted the video about finishing things up and I waited. It's still on top of my want to read pile. I knew that about Ayn from my husband but he said it was an interesting read. He tried to get me to watch the film of Atlas Shrugged (the next book) but I think I fell asleep. I'm keeping this one on my dining table to read a page whenever I am waiting on something in the kitchen.
Kidnapped was such a pleasant surprise and definitely a boys book, but I really liked the banter of the men. I am considering keeping The Fountainhead and at some point re-reading, which isn't something I normally do. I have Atlas Shrugged, so I will read that, maybe next year. I look forward to hearing what you think of the book.
@BookZealots I read Treasure Island for the first time this summer and enjoyed it. I wished my boys had been readers when they were kids and would have read it. My adult kids and my young kids have had very different childhood experiences. The biggest difference is books and a love of learning.
I remember seeing The Revenant in theatre. It was a very long film and something you only watch once. I've never read the book. My Dad likes Phil Robertson and the Duck Dynasty family. I will have to ask if he's read that book.
It's fun to find out there's a book that came before a movie. I've heard the movie is different. The same was true for the Professor and the Madman, but the movie, surprisingly, was less graphic/detailed. But I liked both movie and book for different reasons. Oh yes, if your Dad likes Phil Robertson, he might like the Jesus Politics.
Sounds like it was a great reading month! I'm interested in reading the adventure books like The Revenant. I hope I can get to it sometime next year. Oh, also, Robinson Crusoe. And I have always pronounced the author's name as "Lou-iss" not "Louie."
It was indeed a fantastic reading month. Yes, I think everyone pronounces it Luis, and that is the way I used to say it as well, but the spelling trips me up, because it's spelled like louee, Louis. Similar to the Bronte's and Heyer. LOL names are tricky. I haven't read Robinson Crusoe. Prometheus probably has. I don't even know if we still own a copy.
God needs to be the center of the home. Back when I was a child the church was the focal point of our family. God lead our lives. They have taken God out of our schools. We had a bible class in school. That color looks fantastic on you. My dad was drafted into the air force at 18. His BP was so high they made him lay down till it was low enough to for him to pass. I am going to look for that crazy horse book. Annie Jacobsen is one of your favorite authors. It’s just like the gun issue. It’s the people with the guns not the guns. People who don’t follow laws are gonna always have guns and do wrong. I have guns and have never shot anyone.
Yep. (nodding head in agreement). Though I did not grow up in a Christian home, nor did I get to experience the Bible in school. It's crazy to think what the military did back in the day to "get men to pass." Yes, Annie Jacobsen is my favorite author and I called her out for that book because it's not what she's written before. I was so angry I was holding the book upright and bent it with my hands. Prometheus's eyes got wide. He said, "I think you broke it." I have two more books by her and hopefully they won't be propaganda. But if they are, I'll call them out too.
@ I guess every author writes a dud. I can just see you bending that book!!!! Our country needs to put God first. I always look to see if you have posted a new video. I look forward to yours. I think you need to post every day!!!!! My favorite booktuber!!!!!!
@@user-iz6cc6lz3j-Vickie yeah I think an alphabet soup group called her and told her what she needed to do, because she wasn't putting them in a good light. I might be reaching. I forgot to thank you for the compliment on my sweater. Strangely, it doesn't look that color in real life, but on the camera I like the color too. LOL It's a great royal blue on camera. I'll try and wear it more often this winter. =) Yes, we need to put God first, the one true God, not the god the lost worship. Ahh, 🙏🤗 Thank you for the compliment for being your favorite booktuber. I bet you say that to all the booktubers. LOL =) If I post too often you'll get tired of me. Or others will. Maybe in January I'll do a daily vlog, like I did in june. 🤷♀
Hi, hello and what!!??? You hated it??????? Lol fair enough. I saw similar reviews like yours where fearmongering and propaganda are brought up, but I guess between nostalgia, the fast pace and how detailed it was (real or exaggerated), that made it a great read for me. And goodness gracious look at the size of The Fountainhead! That would definitely be a Kindle read. Vietnam stories are always so sad to me, ugh it was just an awful war nobody should've had to be involved with. Oh and how did I miss The Revenant! Never read the book but the movie is bruuuuutal. Great revenge story though I finally got to update my most hated book of all time in November and I did not see that coming at all. Cell has probably been my most hated book ever and The Last One at the Wedding dethroned it no doubt about it. The main character is a bumbling boomer caricature, the plot was all over the place, the story was all over the place and the ending wasn't even good. What an awful book! Take care and see ya on the next one
Hi, hello, I know, I'm sorry! That's why I was really vague in my comments when you posted your videos. I could tell it was nostalgic for you and I didn't want to ruin that. I was not just reading the story, which, it really feels like a story and not nonfiction, and compared to her other books, this one is just that, a story and it falls flat. The other three books of hers that I have read are 4-5 stars easy. The research in them is phenomenal. I do hope you read some of them and then make a comparison. yes, it was a quick read. I was happy for that. If it weren't for you, I would have dnf'd it. Most of our wars we shouldn't be in and yes, they're awful. We're not having pastries and tea, though I think that might soothe a lot of enemies. LOL Put them in a sugar coma. Are you talking about Cell by King? I haven't read the book, but I saw the movie. If it's the King book. And yes! I hated the movie so I know I'd hate the book. I'll have to look up The Last One at the Wedding. Just going by the title though it doesn't sound like a book I'd read. I know, we're not supposed to judge books by their cover, or the title, but it certainly helps sway my decisions. I should put that as a community question.
Ugh yes the one by Stephen King and it's SO BAD but still not as bad as the Wedding book! I can't believe how much I hated it. I even tried to turn it into a comedy in my head instead of reading it as a thriller but that didn't help after a few chapters either. I'll definitely check out another Jacobson book sometime next year when I'm in a big book mood
@@holt_arr I looked up The Last One at the Wedding on goodreads. A couple of years ago, I would have tried it if the library had a copy. That's the type of book to get hyped on booktube. I hate my library. Of course they have this book. But they don't have the books I want to read. My taxes going to waste.

Kidnapped is really good.

@ I’m glad you liked ayn Rand better than I did. What rating did you give the book out of 1-5
@@user-iz6cc6lz3j-Vickie I haven't rated it yet. But maybe a 3. I didn't hate it. But there were strikes against it.
