Tool Reviews And Restorations
Добавлен 10 янв 2019
Hello and welcome to my channel. My name is Andrew and I am a farmer in northwestern France.
All of my videos are of things that interest me and I try to make them interesting and useful.
Most of my content is about power tools, I like to review and repair them. I do a fair amount of woodworking so there’s also the odd video about that. I do some metal working although I don’t really film my metal working (at least for the moment).
Antique tractors and farm equipment are one of my favorite things so you can expect to see a lot about them on my channel; repairs, restorations and the machines at work. Pretty much anything that’s simple and has a lot of steel on it interests me, trucks, tractors, construction equipment, even cars.
I hope you enjoy my videos!

it brings back memories to see a restoration of a pony, my father had one in the 60s and 70s, really nice work 👍
Thank you!

Приветствую! Ка сегодня работает аккумулятор?
This may be a damn fool question, but is there any quick way to tell when the blade needs replacing ?
When the blade stops cutting very well you need to replace it. You can also look at the teeth, if they’re rounded or starting to break off or in the case of a metal cutting blade actually worn off then you need to replace it. Wood cutting blade will start to smoke a lot when they become dull. Hope that helps
Wow, this is impressive work! Love the images from under the tractor.
Thank you! Glad you liked watching
I have a questions, what carburetor is on that tractor?
It is mounted with a Solex 22 ZCIA
Great job. Very nice to see a new video. Always enjoy and learn something. Thank you and best wishes.
Thank you for watching! I now it’s been a while since I’ve made a video but I’ve been very busy with things that would have been really interesting to film but also really difficult to make into a watchable video. I’m going to post more frequently now
Could this be used to sharpen lawn mower blades?
Yes, it could easily do that
Hello, could you please put a link in the description with a screenshot of how you set up the front and rear carriage of the planer table? I bought this planer and if I set the wheel to the zero position, the front carriage is not level with the rear carriage. The level gauge wobbles over my blade and I see a hole of about 2 mm with my eye. I found on youtube how to adjust the level using the screw that is hidden under the rotating handle, but even this adjustment did not guarantee the level of both table carriages
I never adjusted my planer, it is on the factory setting. The front carriage is a little out of alignment with the rear but I haven’t looked into how to fix that yet
Can you show close up for removing blades
Wow, you suck at using tools.
Very well explained ❤ Thanks
Cool video! Thanks! Very well done.
Thanks for watching!
Thank you for posting this video. It just saved me from getting scammed, since my country doesn't do the XR20, but uses the XR18.. And the scammer showed images with the 20V batteries.
still relevant. thnx
Vale la pena para construcciones??
Great tool. There is a paddle switch type of this grinder but in my country there is only this with slide one.I prefer so much with paddle, it feels much better than slide one.
Thanks for showing and the tips for usage like the triangle to get the right saw line. Hi from Holland.
Thank you for watching
Which model of battery can fit on that grinder please
Any of the 18v xr or 20v max batteries
Today i took it apart and the and the anvil casting and when put back together it made wierd noise , took it apart again and seated it properly but the speed selector was not aeated properly so took it apart again and now it works lol. Took it apart again coz i had problem when i switch speeds, sometimes it would go all over the place . Speed to matching the selector speed. I cleaned it again ,now i scrubbed off all the grease on the terminals. What is that grease? Now the speed selector works good. Cleaned it with contact cleaner WD
Keep the drill bit in the drill and put it in reverse to back out a stuck drill😊
Thanks. However, more worrying is the fact that your granny was shipping lithium batteries in her luggage ;-)
Thanks for watching. What ever is the matter of putting batteries in your suitcase? It is no different than hauling a couple dozen GoPro batteries with you 😁
Why would you talk in metric measurements? We only buy wood in imperial!!!!Annoying
Probably because here in France we speak in metric
How to bay, place
Speed 1 engine .. on your motorcycle if your heavy handed and prone to stripping threads.
I got the one with no laser .

For the love of god please use gloves if you have any fingers left!!
You should pony tail your hair when working with power tools
Helpful, thank you
I also like this replace 1.2v 10 cell 12v to 18650. 3.7v 3 cell 12v but no strong. Some more do again 18650. 6cell 12v is i think strong
Thanks for the demo, very helpful. Remember to wear a good quality mask when sanding, your lungs wit thank you for it! - I get that you weren't wearing one just so you could speak for the video :)
Absolutely rubbish saw, you would expect better quality from Bosch you got the same vibration problem as mine
So you say you can use a dewalt 18v lithium XR battery in a 20v dewalt power tool! What about if I used a 20v dewalt XR battery in an 18v Dewalt power tool? Yes or no?
Yes, that will work since the two systems are fully compatible
Does it still work?
Yes
Hah! Love it, ‘Teal’ taking apart ‘Yellow,’ and old School Makita at that! Half the time You're a bit out of the frame; Try tilting camera up some, juss sayin… and part of the time cant see what’s you're doing at all? Some really good detailed explanations at times! Good catch at that washer, very important. Good catch on some of the other parts. And that’s Her! Good job Man!
Brilliant I would have so stuffed up the disassembly without this video. Thanks 👍
Thanks for watching!
This is a long video. What was the cause of the wobble? Which part of the clutch failed?
It’s the clutch housing that failed
Try watching the video there, sparky! 🙄
I’ve just bought one of these so this was really useful. My blade is about half a degree off however, try as I might I can’t find any video on RUclips that gives a good explanation how to adjust the blade. Any clues would be really helpful.
How do you mean half a degree off?
Apparently the charger is not working well, since when you measured it before charging it it was at 12.13 and after taking it out of the charger it measured 12.03. In addition, lithium batteries differ from nickel batteries by their voltage of 1.2 to 3.7 so it is impossible for the original charger to give you the full voltage value of a lithium because it was designed to charge only nickel cadmium batteries and not lithium. The value at full load should be approximately 12.60v.
Yes, I know that the original charger didn’t work that well but I didn’t want to have to spend more money on a charger
Eu sou o comentário brasileiro que vc estava esperando.... Vídeo muito útil e didático!!!! Greetings from Brazil
I snapped my only 3.3mm drill bit for drilling holes for M4 tapping due to chuck wobble. I can't just run out and buy one because they are not a common hardware store item over here. So cranky with Dewalt man.
How well did the superglue hold up? I need to repair a KA200, and the whole base is unglued. So I'm wondering if superglue would be enough, or I need to use some other, stronger adhesive.
The superglue did an ok job but I would suggest finding a better adhesive if you want a more lasting job. The part I glued on with the superglue started to come off again after about five sheets of sandpaper.
@@toolreviewsandrestorations Thank you! That confirms my initial suspicions, and will save me some trial and error. I'm planning to try with some JB Weld I have at home. Not too sure, but I understand that it could be more sturdy and durable.
@MayecRancel let me know how it goes. I’ve given up on this sander because the switch gave out and I have a nicer sander but I might need to glue a base back on at some point in the future
@@toolreviewsandrestorations Hello again. A quick follow-up on the sander repair: I did end up gluing it with JB Weld, and after a couple of uses, it seems to be sturdy and to be holding up well. At least for now, seems that I will be using this sander for a while longer.
Good to know
Good
So the 20v are not backward compatible with the 18v?
20v max are compatible with the 18v xr
@@toolreviewsandrestorations Ideal, thanks 👍.
Just got mine delivered today. Looking at reviews as I do haha. Good tip on the chuck for the 1st 20 times. I've read it's an issue but maybe just needs to be used a few times :) Thanks for the review!
Seems to be the only source addressing this matter still in 2024. Guess I _can_ buy cheaper NA tools online and ship to NZ.
Great video. Exact question I needed answered
Thank you
Quick question I know you mentioned not putting it too close to the end or it will break, makes sense. I noticed the bottom half of the bit is round and not spiraled, is that the only place you should set the countersink set screws on?
Yes, you should only set the screws onto the rounded part but I wouldn’t sweat putting the screws on the spiraled part as long as you don’t force the countersink into the wood too hard. Thank you for watching
