WHICH CHASSIS CASTERS DO YOU NEED FOR YOUR STOCK CAR?
Finally got the time to sit and watch. Another great video!!! Thanks !! Looking forward to the next one.
First off, thank you for yours and your son’s service. Without people that serve, we could not enjoy the freedoms we have. I really enjoy your videos, the technical insight is something really hard to get with today’s coverage and creators. And the fact you don’t have sponsors for your videos is even more of a reason for me to watch. Is there anyway to be notified of events you may make an appearance at? In a professional capacity of course. Thanks for the insight and great content.
Thank you so much ! I greatly appreciate the kind words. Myself, I served twenty-four years, and my oldest is nearing their sixth year of enlistment. Our family comes from a long line of military heritage dating back to WWII. We certainly understand the price of freedom and that it isn't free. Now that my child is serving, I understand and comprehend that more than ever. Most of the content you see is for entertainment engagement, building and brand, and making a profit to build up an "influencer," so to speak. Not much emphasis is placed on education, but more so on entertainment and profit. I don't believe education should come at a monetary price, it should only cost you your time and willingness to learn. I generally announce car show or event info on FB and IG. I'm glad you enjoy the content and I appreciate your support! Thank you again!
HOORA DANNY
Merry Christmas!
Great video again Danny, learn something every time. Merry Christmas to you and your family.
Thanks! I appreciate it, and I hope you and your family had a great Christmas as well!
Another great episode sir, again thank you for your service and sharing your aotomotive skills. Folks the last few minutes of this episode is priceless and should be written down.
Thanks Tim ! I greatly appreciate the kind words and your support!
Great videos really enjoy watching them learn a few thinks along the way.
Glad you picked up a few things along the way Dennis! Thanks for watching, I'm glad you enjoy the channel !
Another great video. I like your no nonsense approach to building, and the fact that you don't use sponsorship or advertise things you don't use. Watching your video after a great Christmas with family. Keep up the great work.
Thanks, I appreciate it! I'm glad to see others realize I'm not someone's pitch monkey. It's important to me that I use quality products and materials while passing along honest real world testimony. I hope you and your family have a great Christmas as well !
you make awesome content. i have learned alot from your videos. i got a question. what is your typical day of getting a car ready for track day? keep up the good work
Thank you! I appreciate the kind words! I have track day play list on the Chanel home page, it covers just about all of the prep I typically go through.
Merry Christmas Danny, you spoke the truth.
Merry Christmas Steve! I hope you and your family have a great day! I simply try to tell it how it is, unfortunately the truth also brings out negativity in others.
Just when I thought Christmas Day couldn’t get any better, Stock Car Surplus puts out a new video. 😎 Thanks Danny! Merry Christmas
Thanks for watching, it means a lot! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and your family! I appreciate it!
Merry Christmas, Danny. I love following along with your builds.
Merry Christmas to you and your family Jason ! Hope you have a great holiday season, I appreciate your support!
My wife and I are just like you and your wife my wife supported me in my racing career and our toy collection i bought a 2013 mustang back in 2014 and people told me it must be nice to buy one i just anor them and I got the same remarks with my racing stuff I just told them we work for it and our stuff is paid for and I enjoy watching your channel
Thanks for the support Brian! I'm glad you enjoy the channel, it definitely takes a strong home life and support to achieve other goals in life!
Thanks for making this video! Good tutorial and skills. I can tell you came from aviation maintenance. Well said about the haters. Keep living your life and making content for ppl to enjoy!
Thanks for the compliments! I appreciate your support, no matter what you do weather it's successful or a failure the haters will hate. You just need to be true to yourself and carry on !
@stockcarsurplus you're welcome, and thank you for your service to our nation. Look forward to more videos from your channel. The dry sump videos are well executed. Would love a deep dive on the NASCAR Powerplants if you get time. I'm sure you'll get to it as the build progresses.
A video from Danny! That paint job looks great! All of your tips are super helpful, buddy; from heat shrinking the mounts to how to clean the oil lines. Thanks for sharing, man. I'm going to put a few of those to use today.
Glad the tips were helpful. Preparation is the most important part when it comes to paint application. Glad many of these tips help. I'm putting together a bunch more videos for this build soon!
Danny, I know you are a very private person, but it would be very interesting to have some insight in your personal career path and what you do currently. Thanks Steve
Thanks, I appreciate the support and interest. It's something I've been asked about in the past and may include in a future video.
How about some stainless steel cable ties ?
I tend to only use them on hard lines like brades stainless for the fire system because they don't melt. Unfortunately I've seen people use them on wiring and wear through the insulation over time and cause a short / ground fault. Great question !
I did not see many of your videos.... Did you just rattle can the chassis paint?
Yes, I used SEM Trim Black & chassis grey along with SRI's own brand of Chassis paint. Most of that can be seen in FB post.
Did you also get a car from James hylton? Or just the hood? Do you know who got his windmill engine Dyno?
I ended up with one Ford, some Dodge engines, parts and a bunch of other miscellaneous stuff. I have no idea where that dyno went.
Do you know much about the car you got? Was it complete? He had to Ford's that I drove a few times
Martina or woody? Or the grumpy one....
I like watching these kinds of videos I told my wife that I wish I could restore a old race car but I don't think I could do it because of my health your cars are looking awesome and Merry Christmas
Merry Christmas Brian ! I appreciate your kind words, always remember your health and time with your family is always more important. I've been collecting model stock cars for 30 years and they are plan when I am unable to physically do this.
Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas to you and your family Mike ! I appreciate it and your support!
Merry Christmas I hope your New Year's blessed thanks for the video have you had a chance to see if you have a table that holds your rear end like you showed in the other video 👍👍👍👍
Merry Christmas Steve ! I hope you and your family have a great holiday! I've looked through what I have and I only have enough for what I'm working on. You could try contacting Nitro Manufacturing directly or one of the used parts houses in Mooresville.
Merry Christmas and happy New Year looking forward to your next show God bless 👍
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, to you as well! New Video launches in the morning!
@stockcarsurplus just asking if you found a cart yet that holds the rear end and supplies as you had on your other show
Do you always have the idle set at 2600? Why so high?
To warm it up to operating temp and set the rings.
Great video and content
Thanks, I appreciate it!
Nice job.
Thanks Henry, I appreciate it!
Hell yeah, buddy. Thanks for the ride. That truck is beautiful and looked great out there with the rest. Great job keeping it alive, I know that I'd love to see it looking like that if I had spent so much time, energy, and love creating it. I can only imagine how much you made their day.
Thanks Clint ! Glad you enjoyed it, a great time was had by all !
I think a cool idea for a track day car is to take something like one of these COT race cars and put every cheat idea ever invented/tryed/used into one cup car. If anything it would make a fun show car. But more fun as a track day car.....as long as its safe to use on track. I don't think anybodys done that.
I agree! That would be a fun idea to run with. It's definitely going to be built light and for fun, I can say that.
Cool, seeing someone shifting gears the hell with all this automatic crap.. cool gear shifter
👍
Where the heck do I get these 59 series valve stems? I cant find them anywhere!!
I get them directly from teams and Goodyear / Champion.
Probably a no, but are spectators allowed at these track days? Understand if not, but I would love to hear and see these machines in real life.
Everyone brings a certain amount of guest, but it's not open to the general public.
Danny, you're awesome. You're damn right, buddy, all it takes is to get out in the garage. I have a question for you about the new harbor freight welders; I've got my eye on the Unlimited 140 Professional Multiprocess by Titanium and was wondering if you would recommend it or not, given your background. I'm not the greatest welder but learned and practiced on the 90 amp Flux core, so I know it will get the job done. Thanks in advance for your help!
I'm glad you found the channel and that you are enjoying the videos. I honestly have no experience with welders from Harbor Freight, everything I have is Miller or Thermal Arc. I've also never used Flux core, always shielded gas MIG & Tig.
@@stockcarsurplus I know welders are very finicky about their equipment. Like me and a framing hammer. I appreciate you taking the time outta your day to answer me. I don't have Miller money just yet, so I'll likely end up picking up the mentioned above and seeing what it can do.
No worries dude, buy what you can afford and work on the basic skills first. After you get the down, move on to better equipment.
@stockcarsurplus that's what I've personally found to be best. Thanks for the advice, buddy.
Oh my, CMP is a wonderful track. Ripping it in a stock car would be sweet!
It's a great track and definitely fun !
Thank you so much for answering these questions, Danny. Thank you for being you. I'm glad I found your channel.
You're welcome Clint ! I'm glad you found a and enjoy the content!
@stockcarsurplus and, although it's late, happy veterans day, from one vet to another. I've been searching for a professional mentor since leaving the service, and I think I've found the guy.
Great seeing you get the car out for shakedown, motor sure did want to go higher than 7000 lol doing this will keep your arteries from plugging up 😊😊
Thanks Nick, it certainly wanted to run harder. After a few adjustments and a new carburetor it's going to get to stretch its legs in the spring!
What is a fast time at CMP for one of these modern stock cars?
No idea. Never timed a stock car.
Nice one 👍
Thanks! I appreciate the compliment!
Always a good day when nothing breaks and all you have to do before next time is improvements and maintenance rather than repairs.
Absolutely !
Sounds like it hates everything other than WOT.
It did. The carburetor is a Road Course 830 that actually flowed over 920 and is way too big for an Xfinity engine. I'm building a new one now and it will be ready to rip in the Spring.
That is the most beautiful car I have ever seen. Just a man having fun in a racecar on a track.
Thanks Clint ! I appreciate the kind words! Nothing more fun than a fast car and open track ahead!
@stockcarsurplus words of wisdom for sure.
Indeed!
@@stockcarsurplus I keep coming back to this video. You are incredibly humble. You work on your own car and you bring us in and show us around. Thank you for that. It's honestly refreshing to see that the people there are using a US General toolbox, just like me. You inspire me, I feel as though I can be where you are one day too. Edit: I guess you can say I'm your biggest fan.
Remember the most important tool is your hands and how you use them. I've found if you invest in your skills and ability you can use almost any tool to complete a task.
Love this brother. Love it. Thanks for what you do and thanks for posting.
You're welcome Nick ! I appreciate the support and I'm glad you are enjoying the channel!
First time commenter. I was a crew member in NBS from 95 thru 05. She is a nice piece. Preach to the choir time lol 190/190 is ok for a start, was taught 180/210. I remember when you did the start video you said you didnt have the shroud on the radiator, so your water temp will drop. Could hear the engine loading up in the low speed corners with that big carb, but for a first time run, better the engine was run a bit fat. Had I been there, I would have taken some minimal notes...air pressure and temps on the tires, shock travel , surface temp etc Looking forward to your spring video, when she gets a full shake down!! Great work!
👍
So glad to see you back been waiting for the next video thank you 👍👍👍👍
Thanks Steve! I'm glad you enjoy the channel, I appreciate it!
Wasn't expecting a Will Cronkite cameo, but I was wondering who the rocking chair was for when you first got there. Loved those old Busch cars with the Pressley/Setzer and Gant paint schemes. I drive by Ed Whitaker's old shop all the time in Bristol. That particular font on the 7 always reminds me of him.
I was wondering if that was Will, replayed that part and sure enough!
It's definitely him! He's a great friend and I'm proud to have found and restored one of his original cars!
Hey Dude! Question, do you run the oil through the cooler constantly? There is no thermostat to bypass the cooler so oil stays up to correct temp?
Great Question! No bypass, engine oil runs through the cooler at all times. Many teams used to use a bypass switch for qualifying but not anymore.
@ interesting. Trying to configure my own dry sump, was thinking about implementing a thermostatic remote oil filter. What are your thoughts on these?
I've never used one or seen a need to.
@@stockcarsurplus so for a race car application, send it straight through the cooler and monitor temp through sensors in tank and at engine?
👍
Thanks for info all my questions
You're welcome Jack ! Glad I could help, I appreciate your support!
I would love to know the history of my cot car I know the chassis is Hendricks but the last owner was you but bill Davis was the last owner user . The only problem with this car is my " ignorance " (lack of knowledge ) these cars are complicated I'm glad your doing this car
It certainly can be complicated Troy, I hope this build series helps.
Well that's some nice looking and nice sounding work to me.
Thank you! I appreciate the kind words!
Looking fantastic! Have a great shakedown run!
Thanks Mike ! I forsee any major issues!
The Supra looks and sounds ready to rip - have fun!
Thanks! It's definitely going to be fun!
Looks and sounds great. Hope to see some footage on track.
Thanks Jason! I'll have some footage soon!
Vary nice and understand the concept
Thanks Troy! I appreciate the sentiment but Kyle's been a good friend to me for more than a decade and I think the name above the door describes the car more than the driver!
