Sir, these videos, particularly this one, is the kind of stock car content I’ve been looking for forever. I’ve always been fascinated with everything technical about these race cars and have always wanted to see every bit of prep that goes into getting these cars on the track. Thank you for making these videos and please keep them coming!
Me too, I like and hunt for this stuff a lot, but I'm just a below average sim racer. I once saw a woman building a hobby stock roll cage in like five ten-minute segments with a little narration and it was more instructive than anything I've ever found.
As a racer and car builder, I find your series completely fascinating. The fact that a lot of parts are interchangeable and some are just bespoke is crazy. Also enjoy the history of the parts. Super cool👍
Absolutely beautiful truck. I’m a huge KBM fan especially his SLM stuff. Have a few friends that work for KBM. Met and became friends with Rudy back in those days.
Once again another great behind the scenes shop video!! Very informative and learning a lot.. That truck sounds awesome on my surround sound.. My wife likes the part where your wife comes around and you ask her “if she’s ready for that walk” Lol, I do the same thing.. Thanks for the vids, looking forward for more.. Bryant,
Thanks, Bryant! I greatly appreciate your compliments about the video content and the truck! Nothing is more important than the love of my life, my amazing wife! I drop everything for the walks in the evening with her!
Love your channel and how informative it is. I always thought teams were charging the battery’s on the grid before a race never new they were getting oil.
Great video. Never knew. Keep them coming. I'm sure it's been mentioned, but I'm curious what other hot rods you have in your collection. Looking forward to the next video.
Great video. Funny as I’ve had a reoccurring though about having a Toyota truck as a track day toy myself. So I’m guessing this truck had the Ilmor engine when it competed? Is the engine it has now a Gibbs built engine from an Xfinity car?
@@stockcarsurplus Thanks. I did hear you mention that but admittedly didn’t have any idea what it meant and search didn’t reveal too much info, which I found typical of most Toyota racing “stuff” over the years.
Love the channel. I have a 2006 Roush car that I am working on. How are the Oil lines from the Sump tank run from the tank to the pump. ? Stainless hard lines under the car or flex lines that are fire sheath covered inside the car?
Great question, depends on when the car was built and what type of track it was built for. My Roush Taurus had a right side oil tank with braided -16 lines run through the car and my Roush Fusion had stainless lines under the car. There are multiple options but looking at the chassis there are usually some tell tale signs of where they were when it was built and raced.
@@stockcarsurplus Dry sump tank is on the Left or driver side. Need to see if any signs of bracket attachment are present on the underside ( stainless -16 type tubes ) Car is RK250, a Matt Kenseth road course car from 2004-2006. Seems like at Watkins Glen 2006 front end crash took place. A year later, the car shows up as the #44 Toys for Tots car - parked in front of a UPS store. Thanks to JKS motorsports, the front clip was pasted back on with holidays in the welds. Was purchased off Ebay out of the Winston Cum Museum from Bill Soper. Working on getting the front ad rear suspension sorted out, with the help of Dana Stahl - in California. A real project
Thanks for sharing. I enjoyed the video. Just found your channel a week ago and subd. I spent years at my local track crewing on a friends car. Do you ever race or just go to track days and so fourth.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for taking the time to sub and support the channel! I raced street stocks growing up and Late Models as the Military allowed. Now I just road race Vintage NASCAR Series cars and trucks at private track days.
Great Question Jason, the bearing clearances in the engine are tighter than a production engine. Getting everything warm allows them to expand and open up without the fear of spinning a rod or main bearing.
My entire family and I race dirt track, super late models and winged sprints,2 years ago my husband bought a old Ryan Newman car,I love it what I don't understand is the power difference,my super late model car makes close to 1000 HP the cup car I figure around 750 HP but the Newman car just feels like a beast it seems like it has more than my dirt car,I would love to be able to take it to Daytona and run it just once but as we found out renting a NASCAR track is expensive as hell, Especially when they find out you want to run a car like that

Awesome. your attention to detail is good to see and know I'm not the only one. 🙂

There are a lot more to see in upcoming videos!
According to Jayski this is a 2022 Kyle Busch Motorsports truck that Joe Nemechek drove.
KBM chassis, John Hunter Nemechek wrap.
Danny, would be cool if you did a video explaining how you got into this hobby, gained your knowledge base, etc. did you work for some race teams?
Several people have asked it's something I think I'll do in a future video.
I raced the same tundra on nascar heat 5 the video game.keep up the good work
Nice 👍
That's Cool ! Glad you enjoy the channel, thanks for your support!

The engine is a TRD / Triad Phase 14.

I really hope there will be on track footage of this truck and everything with helmet blower everything working
Indeed there will be ! I plan on filming the entire track day!
@@stockcarsurplus awesome just found your channel wish there was a way to connect more then just comments
Sounds good, like to see how she runs
Thanks Alex ! Track day video to follow!
Just found your channel. It will be one of my favorites! Are you changing the oil after every track day?
It depends on the amount of miles run per track day.

New to the channel but very cool, did you work at KBM?
Glad you enjoy it Joe!
No I do not, but I know the owner.
Another great video. What weight oil is used?
Glad you enjoyed it Dave ! All of my TRD engines use Mobil1 0-W20 Racing Synthetic.
what keeps the oil pump belt on in race conditions ? tension or something else. I've seen you slide them on on and off the cogs
It's self aligned by the drive mandrel on the crankshaft, similar to how a timing belt aligns itself.

How did you get the great railing car hood from hylton?
I bought it and some R5 engines he had.
@@stockcarsurplus cool! He did not sell much, I lost a jack over there nice acdelco, race jack
I’ve been watching for a while now. I have always wondered what your role was/is in nascar?
Great question, that may be something I discuss in a future video!
Why does the oil have to be so warm before you fire the engine?
Great Question Jason, the bearing clearances in the engine are tighter than a production engine. Getting everything warm allows them to expand and open up without the fear of spinning a rod or main bearing.
@@stockcarsurplus wouldn’t heating the engine coolant concurrent to heating the oil be more efficient / effective?
How much fuel does it hold and how long does it last ?
Holds 18 gallons Mike, I burn through about 36 gallons for the entire day.
The right brake light isn't working on the trailer
Thanks, Jeff. I noticed that when when I was editing the video.
What?......Why no 3rd brake light mounted on the door?
