This all happened a few years ago but at the time I wrote it down as I was sure nobody would believe me. While putting out the last rod about 2pm in waders I got soaked. By the time I got out of the wet clothes the middle rod was away, unfortunately the fish weeded me up and was lost. I then attempted to dry my clothes. Within 1 hour the same rod was away again, the fish weeded me up, once more! I waded the entire margin to the end of the lake, the fish was still stuck so I called Phil to get the boat, unfortunately the fish was lost. The rod was cast back out, alarm set, as I turned to tidy the carnage the same rod was off again, hook pull! Clothes are dry at last. Put the rod back out. Portugal v Spain in the world cup, Ronaldo scores to equalise 3-3, 88 mins gone. Got Spain in the sweepstake... Then Lucy calls but the phone cuts out 3 times, at this point my battery pack flew out of my pocket and landed in the lake about 6.5 feet away. Stripped off as didn't want to get wet again and retrieved the battery pack. As I put the battery pack down, the same rod is off again - another hook pull!! It's now 9pm. No more action. Edit that 10.38am same rod, 32lb 4oz! I know this all sounds very far fetched but I have added some photos taken at the time. This is my competition entry and I hope you find this as amusing as I did at the time.

I stick to what works for me i get going stiff but we are conditioning the carp to deal with these if everyone is using the same stiff boom as with the adding of glugs and other liquids the carp will eventually avoid these types of spots as it will become associated with danger in my mind but that said adding liquids works just I don't tend to add much if any I want my bait to look like its been there a while to make the carp feel it's safe to feed off

Confession I was at a party the other week with aload of friends and family for the annual get together, we all had A few drinks and got abit merry, I then went for one of many calls of nature whilst drinking. With in my absence my better half decided she wanted another drink but the group of our friends/family that she was with that she had lost her wallet, many people then took it upon themselves to start looking for her wallet, asking what sort it is what colour it was where she last had it.. I then returned from my toilet break and as I walked back into the hall she shouts ‘there it is’. Was abit of a had to be there moment but made us all laugh and a story to tell 😂😂 merry Christmas 🎄🟢

Little story for yous when I was fishing a know park lake around Essex that you will properly be aware off I was a young lad at the time of this incident so don’t judge me 😂 it was getting dark one evening and I was absolutely dieing for a macka Iv held this in for most of the day as I had fish all over me also I never had nothing to have a macka in anyway it was getting later and no one was about so I had a little look in my bag to see what I could use, if you remember the old armo light kettle bags with all the holes in that was all i had I thought “Yh that will do me” took me socks off and proceed to do my buissness in a dip between the two paths, anyway dropped me under crackers soon as I done that some woman come walking past with her dog and looked me square in the face in disbelieve I looked at her and just gave her a little smile talk about bad timing things you do as a kid Il never forget that look on her face 😂😂😂😂 48:53

Hi Korda, Really enjoying the podcasts, I really look forward to listening to them while on the way to work. Here is a story I have for you guys; Around 20/25 years ago, I fished a lake a campsite on the outskirts of brentwood. The lake in question was used for rafting, canoeing, and the scouts used to zip line across it so the the fishing very much took a back seat. We were allowed to fish dawn until 10.00 and then return 5pm until dusk. On the session in question, I arrived at about 4.45pm and proceeded to set up to start fishing at 5 pm. The water was quite low as we had a dry summer, and I needed to get my bank stick in so I could cast out a couple of the local tackle shops strawberry cream boilies. As I pushed my front bankstick in, the clay around my rod rest gave way, and I went head first into the pond. I was, as you can imagine, soaked to the bone and had to go home and get changed. While not ideal, I decided to head off and leave my rods at the lake because I knew most of the regulars, and my brother was fishing about 50 yards away. To get to the lake, we had three options; I could either get a lift, I could walk though the adjoining council estate to get back to my parents house or we could jump the barbed wire fence. Naturally, as kids, we always jumped the fence, and 99 times in 100, we would get away with it. On this occasion, while halfway through the fence the campsite warden caught me and i was frog marched upto the front gate and made to walk the 25/30 minutes through the council estate and onto my parents house. I kid you not, I squelched the entire way home, and the kids on the housing estate got into me suggesting I had wet myself. By the time I had got home, showered, changed, and got back to the lake, i fished for an hour or so, which resulted in a blank. Thanks

Confession Fishing burners hall in between 2 weed beds had a take a 2am and half asleep though I had a monster on called my friend in the next swim to say I had one on as he came out his bivvy he said what’s that noise and I said leads come off it’s up in the water Two mins go bye and I wake up to realise the it was not a carp but one off the many geese had gone through my line and given me the take off all takes after 10-15 mins we managed to get in into the margin where I would not go near this bird because I was scared off it 😂 So my pal went full Steve Irwin and managed to grab the this bird and then start to untangle the line as I was light holder then all off a sudden he shouted at me and said just f***ing hold it (the light ) as I was not even paying attention and was looking at something shin somewhere else to which we was then both in absolute hysterics we managed to release the goose back to lake and laughed for the next hour what a trip

Many years ago, a friend and I fished the river Kenett. On a cold, frosty spring morning my friend shouted from the next swim that he was going for a short walk across the field and into the woods to have a dump,15 minutes later he walked back across the field with his Bob church waxed cotton all in one suite under his arm wearing only his t shirt and long John's, I said you ok not realy he replied, I squted down and shat in the hood of his all in one. I pissed myself as we packed and made our way home.

Group of us booked a trip to France. Hired a long wheel base van to fit all our kit in and was taking over a cooker and freezer for the lake owner of where we were visiting. To say the van was overweight was an understatement. Got to the euro tunnel and the hire van was leaking oil so they wouldn’t let us on the train. One of the group got a bit tricky to customs so on our way back to the hire place to swap vans the police pulled us over for looking overweight (tipped off by customs) we then had to go to the weigh station and was told we would receive a fine through the post for being over weight. By that time the hire centre had closed and we couldn’t pick up a new van until the next morning. They gave us two smaller vans instead of one as they never had a replacement. We got to the lake a day late, The fish spawned for the week we were there. Then on the last night one of the group decided to drive out for supplies and forgot to drive on the other side of the road turned straight into a French farmer. When he drove back along the gravel path to the lake the front of the van was like a snow plough collecting all the gravel as it went along. Once home we had a lovely £1,500 bill for being over weight and £800 excess for the damage to the van. Apart from that it was a great trip.

My biggest confession was 2 years ago Christmas Day me the misses and kids all had Christmas dinner with the plan of driving up to my mum and dad’s for the evening. Now at this point the misses is dragging her feet didn’t really fancy it, in the end I got out of her go fishing. The car was loaded before she could change her mind. On the way out the house she said remember I’ve got work in the morning make sure you’re home for the kids. Yes no worries babe of course. Got to Aldenham lake absolutely Baltic conditions. Settings it in the dark happy as Larry. Set up got the rods out, now got my chest waders on to put my back leads on. Stepped on to a boulder and it rolled before I knew it I was head first into the lake chest wader’s filling up. Panicking managed to pull myself out of the water. Shivering absolutely froze solid I decided I’ve got to ring the Mrs to come pick me up. At that point I worked out my phone was in my pocket. I couldn’t get home because the bottle of Baileys I bought for the boilers is now been drunk and I was over the limit to drive the phone was absolutely Mullard and wasn’t working I had to strip down and luckily enough I had a pair of longjohns I love this in the car to change into. So bearing in mind consequently no phone couldn’t drive I sat in my favourite with my stove on all night trying to keep yourself warm. Must’ve fallen asleep missed getting home for the kids the missus went to work at the time I woke up. I had to drive down to the shop so explain what happened. Walked in there like a drowned rat still shivering from the night before and lucky enough she was working. Because in our eyes I can see she wanted to absolutely throttle me.

My first and funniest calamity was when one fish wiped out both my rods and 3 of my mates rods and he didn’t wake up and when we woke up in the morning to play it off I said his alarms must’ve died, while saying this I had another run and I then then the fish got snagged and instead of asking for help I tried to net the fish and ended up loosing it. While having a little tantrum the guy next to me ( dunno who he was) managed to catch the fish with my rig and about 10 ft of line. So I decided to give him a hand and managed to beat my previous pb 😂

My biggest fishing blunder... went to Belgium with @fishwithcarl and on the second day dropped my brand new phone in the lake..... jumped in to save it (took my trousers down didn't want them to get wet) next thing I know I have 4 cameras filming me in my wet boxers. It's in his video. Anyway get to the end of the trip with a dead phone put all my gear in the car close the boot go to say by to the lads. Only to realize I had locked my keys in my car in the middle of nowhere in Belgium with a tunnel crossing to get to. So ended up having to break a window with a bivvy peg and a chopping board. Fair to say could have gone better. Ontop of that I went there to catch Carp and got everything but grass carp, 4 different varieties of sturgeon pike the lot. Oh well atleast I can forget about it. Oh wait it's on RUclips

My biggest calamity: I was having a couple of nights at my local fishery it was pretty quiet the first night then I woke up to find some people had broken in and taken some of my kit as well as other peoples. Then that night I had all the nets, unhooking mat and buckets in my bivvy in case they came back and did a double bluff. The next morning I had a absolute scream of a bite then it swam through my other lines and all the kit it was in my bivvy so I had to walk back and things were going everywhere then nearly lost the fish at the net but managed to get it in JUST. And it was a 31 pound beauty also my PB.

My carping calamity….In the early 90s, I was setting up my shelter of choice, a wavelock brolly and sew-on sides. The lakeside banks were rock hard, so I used to use one of those Gardner solid aluminium screw-in pole with a T bar. I couldn’t get it to bite at first, so I decided, with hindsight rather unwisely, to sit on the T bar and use my not-so-slim physique to help it along… Unfortunately, as I sat down, it rocked sideways, and the T bar slipped out of the cross hole. The pole shot straight through my jeans and underwear and upwards … I’ve never moved as fast removing myself from the offending item!!! The pole is still in my parents’ garage, and every time I see it, it sends a shudder down my spine… 🤦‍♂️

Confession time: I used to fish a lake in the middle of a racecourse. One of the rules was that you could fish on the morning of the race day if you overnighted but had to be away for nine am. Lovely jubbely, easy peasy, Roberts your father's brother. . . . . Until one of channel four racings big lense TV cameras on a cherry picker 50ft in the air decided to zoom in on muggings here coming out of my bivvy, stretching, yawning and farting (apparently you could see when I lifted my leg). It wasn't until I turned to drain the main vain that the cameras turned away. They were doing a visual check whilst the talking heads in the studio were discussing the evening race. It went out live! It was seen by plenty of my friends but I wasn't too annoyed, i just wish that id have seen it.
