The advantages of formulating your own baits, sourcing your own raw ingredients over using one out of a bag that is available to anyone is you can bespoke make your own baits tailored to the specific water your fishing, the lake bottom your fishing over and the strain of Carp you are targeting. The subject of bait is a fascinating avenue of exploration, in my humble opinion a lot are missing out on. You could be the person to discover through design or accident ingredients additives or processes that fundamentally change carp fishing for the better and the Carps health and wellbeing being the focus of all baits offered to all carp. " Feed carp what they need, not what we need based on cost and shelf life" . Great podcast. Fascinating subject matter.
Listened to a lot of Sam's podcasts, he's a real bait guru, and for someone who has always had an interest the knowledge on show gets the grey matter really questioning things. Great stuff mate
Long live Pete! Just finished catching up on all the CC podcasts, great work! Come on Sam, please give a shout out to Pete! Joking aside, great content, thank you and thanks Rich and Korda
A ha, the face is revealed! I hope Sam gets some exposure for his amazing brilliant podcast. Flying the flag for a dying breed? Let’s hope that one day this doesn’t become forgotten knowledge
People who aren’t massively in to bait need to bear in mind when listening to Sam on this podcast that all baits are effected massively by the lake it’s been applied too. It would be false of Sam to say 100% this is the best ingredient/bait because that just wouldn’t be true for all lakes, and all seasons. Take sweet corn for example one of the most basic of baits, can rip some waters apart and catch the whole stock, an on another lake you won’t get a bite. Of course you can do more with boilies but not all boilies do it all… Enjoyed it as always both Rich & Sam… 👌🏼
Totally agree...this shouldn't be seen as an in depth bait discussion.Sam goes much deeper into bait with experts on his podcasts. This was more of an overview on the relevance of bait and ingredients...he had to answer lots of questions in a short time.Maybe not everyone's cup of tea but I like his no bullshit approach and answers..comes across as honest and humble. 👍
Like a bait podcast. Bit Niche for some. @CarpChronicles always a decent listen.@ThinkingTacklePodcast if you were to do another bait pod Jason Ryder would be a good guest.🙂👍
If you check out my podcast and give a few episodes a listen you will find much more definitive answers. This one was much more of an overview/theory type talk for want of a better phrase.
This was ok I love the carpchronicles but found this quite obtuse and opaque feeling sorry for Rich and not sure Sam answered a single question straight-should you be an astronaut Sam working for NASA?
For bait? It depends where your head is at with it really. Bill Cottam, Dean Towey, Stephen White, Jason Rider, John Llewelyn, Dave Moore, John Baker. The list goes on! Some are more technical than others.
I find this guy really disappointing. He dodges Rich’s usual insightful questioning, contradicts himself and is using the podcast to sell his wares. Nothing scientific there. Good work Rich on trying to get some straight answers from what appeared to be a bait politician. Bring back Simon Scott for another
I completely disagree. I thought it was devoid of bullshit, really insightful & very interesting. Loads to get the grey matter going in this one & there were a few things mentioned that made me sit up & think "I need to try that again" the greatest bait minds have never given their secrets away - they have always hinted or suggested but never told the whole story & that is what keeps me curious about it all. Sam is just keeping that going.
If you want answers and opinions you will find countless hours of in-depth information on my podcast (Carp Chronicles Podcast). The Korda Podcast is great but it’s not the place to go in to super fine detail. Trying to give an entirely correct answer without dissecting it thoroughly is not easy. That being said, I wish I’d done a better job on this episode. I should have gone prepared with some actionable info for people. I’m a flawed individual!
@@CarpChronicles l would have been happy to listen to more detail and science. I have listened/watched every single Korda podcast and this is comfortably the shortest which tells you something about content or lack of it. I want to hear actual opinions even if I don’t agree with them. Too wishy washy for me sorry…. (and i did watch the whole thing).
The guy Korda got to do these interviews is great !!! For many strong reasons .
in my opinion the Carp Chronicles are the best carp fishing podcasts out there, the fact that's it's not polished and relaxed makes it all the better.
Thank you, much appreciated

Awesome watch! Can part 2 be done with alcohol? 😅
Thank you. That would certainly be my preference!

Bait, it's like politics. You'll never get a definitive answer. And most options can have you going around in circles . A series of what ifs here...

Not having a dig but this podcast confused me like i learnt bits but also not sure what ive learnt 😂
Haha, not much was revealed, more theory I guess. If you check out my podcast you’ll find much more detail and specifics there
