Laser hardware sensor upgrade for Uniden detectors.

New wireless laser hardware update for the Uniden radar detectors. Comparative laser detection of an R7 with the new hardware installed, relative to the standard laser sensor of the Uniden detectors (R7 and R8) which don't have the wireless laser hardware module upgrade.

This is an initial video providing an overview of a new laser sensor product that I've been instrumental in having brought to market. This product is now in early production stages. POI Mute Feature - demonstration and explanation

The POI Mute feature is a useful feature available on some of the Uniden detectors that allows for better handling of GPS false alert locations. This feature is currently available on the Uniden R7 (firmware version 150 international), the Uniden R3 (SE firmware versions) and the Uniden DFR9 (SE firmware version). What is the POI Mute feature for? For instance you're driving along the main high...

    You need to raise that thing up the reason why it’s not picking it up it’s all about probably line of sight, if it’s not high enough up, you’ve got all that stuff in front of you. We need to raise the things up in order for them to get the best performance.

    • @mikefearn5213
      @mikefearn5213 5 месяцев назад

      It's based upon a TMG hardware so I would expect it could pick up the laser gun well in excess of 1000m. Probably the longer the range the better it works as more air the beam has to travel through the more the beam is scattered.

    • @mikefearn5213
      @mikefearn5213 5 месяцев назад

      This is a hardware upgrade that works with the on-board detectors laser hardware. Therefore can be pretty much installed in any detector which has a working laser sensor. Doesn't need a specific firmware upgrade to make it work. However with R7 156 international soon to be on release that'd be a no-brainer if you have an R7.

  • @luchforte
    @luchforte 5 месяцев назад

    wow... Nice. This is great where it's illegal to have laser jammers. Few questions. Will it work with R8? Will you be able to have multiple laser heads to use for trucks that are wider? And hopefully you will have a kit available with detail instructions.

    • @mikefearn5213
      @mikefearn5213 5 месяцев назад

      Yes is should work with the R8 the same as it does with the R7. You can use multiple sensors and only needing the single wireless module installed in the detector.

  • @EliteMacFreak
    @EliteMacFreak 5 месяцев назад

    Does this support one or two modules?

    • @mikefearn5213
      @mikefearn5213 5 месяцев назад

      You only need one module in the detector and that can work with multiple wireless units mounted in the car. I.e. with sensors mounted front and rear the detector will alert when either detectors the laser signal.

    • @mikefearn5213
      @mikefearn5213 5 месяцев назад

      This is an old video now. This was for R7forNZ v145. R7forNZ v145 was superseded by R7forNZ v146 and then followed by R7 International v149 then R7 international v150 is current. However, the next R7 international version is already being built and in development. If you have an Uniden R7 NZ, Uniden NZ has discontinued the R7 NZ. I don't know if they will continue to provide R7 NZ firmware updates. Uniden NZ also won't allow me to run and/or support the International firmware on the older R7 NZ hardware. Therefore lots of people have already sold off the original R7 NZ version to buy a new R7 (e.g. from Amazon) which can run either the America or International firmware versions. All the latest R7 hardware versions are also supported on the International platform. That may also be part of the reason the R7 NZ was discontinued as the original R7 hardware internals are no longer being manufactured. Even vortex radar is advocating R7 150 international over US146 / US147 (which I rereleased in the bug fixed version). Even US147 now works better in NZ than the older discontinued Uniden NZ R7 firmwares.

    Great vid - it will work well where laser scanner cameras such as Vitronic Poliscan and Jenoptik TraffiStar S350 are in use and a scatter detection outside their max range of 75m can get you a save (i.e. for cams setup to target the front of the car on approach). The Uniden's are typically very poor against such cameras.

    • @mikefearn5213
      @mikefearn5213 7 месяцев назад

      Good question: I would suggest set K band filter On with both the R3SE and R7 150 international. It perhaps goes somewhat against logical thinking but K band On adds more filtering but may actually give better range. At least on the R7 the K filter appears to give a better signal to noise ratio meaning the range on weak signals can often be increased. I would expect to see the same behaviour on the R3. However, keep the Ka filter OFF.
