Everything You NEED to Know About SNL Season 2 (1976-77)
Wow. Glad I missed this season.
1992, the year I graduated high school in NJ. I watched SNL every week and this cast was absolutely SUBLIME. RIP Chris Farley and Phil Hartman. Two indelible GREATS.
Where is the new episode???? Why you guys treat us like that 😢😢😢😢
These were the years my school mates and I would always talk every week impersonating the sketches in class with each other.
OMG now that you've reached this season I'm beginning to relive my 20s. Good times. So many good memories of this season and cast.
You were the ad wizards who came up with this one
So many great memories. I'm laughing out loud in my office as I watch this.
When is season 18 coming?
It’s crazy to remember some of these skits from their original airing! Realizing I was wasn’t even 10 yet..
Could this be the best season of SNL?
where is tonight’s?? no premier posted!!! i’m dying over here!!!
information about cast shift omitted.
You skipped "Samurai Night Fever"? Are you crazy?! An unforgivable oversight, if not major loss of credibility. It was one of Belushi's finest, if not most star-making moments, in all of SNL history.
My pitch for the anniversary Cold Open is to do it in the style of "Saturday Night" with everyone chaotically prepping the show in a long take, maybe with the real people playing their younger selves. Lorne playing 30 year old Lorne.
Damn, Sarah with the most screen time again? I feel like the writers know she's popular and are trying to make up for the fact she was barely in the first two episodes.
This show needs to end. It's legacy is being ruined by woke no bodies pushing professional victimhood. Let me know when trump comes back and plays alec Baldwin in rust for payback.
Who's here before 100k?
Who came here after seeing the film?
I'm surprised Mike never did a Linda Richman "Coffee Talk" movie.
Brilliant work ❤
I worked on SNL from 1981 to 1989. I'm enjoying the trip down memory lane!
Kenan isn’t just longevity! 4+ sketches per episode is key, too! He’s just gotten better and better, and (not ranking factor) he’s just such a great guy!
My templates 😊
Jimmy Breslin was really funny in a Bond Villains Talk Show sketch
RIchard Baskin wasn't exactly a nobody though - he had just composed the soundtrack to a Robert Altman film.
THANK YOU SO COOL!
As a Brit im only awear of Mary Gross from Sabrina. i had no idea about her career
Cringe
The Mr. Belvedere Fan Club sketch is the best sketch ever written.
Regarding Hallelujah: Leonard Cohen (the writer of the song) had just passed away when Kate played it, so it was also somewhat of a tribute to him. Also, a few months later Alec Baldwin's Trump did a follow-up version of Hallelujah with the cast (and ScarJo) in character as members of Trump's administration sang along with him.
It's interesting that you're comparing Marcello Hernandez to Pete Davidson, I didn't make that connection. He doesn't strike me as the "it" guy but he is shining this season. Marcello can do impressions like Bad Bunny, as opposed to Pete who really couldn't do any and just kept playing versions of himself on the show. Maybe we'll see but I don't see Marcello going the same trajectory as Fallon or Davidson. I'm sure he'll have a great career though. Also, having met him twice (once at meet/greet at a standup and once at the Game 7 Panthers-Oilers game), he's a really great person so I'd love to see him soar. Sean's idea of Waynes World interacting with the Banger Boys is genius for the big 50th season episode. I hope the writers are reading this comment and watching the video.
I'm loving these episodes! Shoutout to Siobhan Fallon Hogan -- she was hilarious in a bunch of different sketches, but aside from the "Delta Delta Delta" girls, she never quite got the chance to shine that she might have had with a smaller cast. And what a post-SNL career! Dozens and dozens of movies (Men In Black, Forest Gump, Holes, a lot of dramatic parts in things like Lars Von Triers movies), tons of TV (30 Rock, Elaine's crazy roommate on Seinfeld!) and theater, and lately she's also been writing and starring in her own films. So talented!
1991 was the apex of comedy. 😭🎭 SNL, Roseanne, Simpsons, Seinfeld, Kids in the Hall, In Living Color, Ren & Stimpy...
This episode deserves its own documentary. I’m sure Lorne, Carvey, Spade and anyone else who interacted with him have a hilarious/crazy story to tell!
I thought the podcast sketch was genius and I bet this one is going to make a return appearance in future episodes The Baby shower sketch felt like it's too soon to do another one, I like the original better Normally I find Sarah Sherman to be really annoying and playing the same character over and over, but her impressions of Matt Gaetz and Peanut the Squirrel's wife fit really well. Hazelnut the squirrel was very unhinged. I always enjoy the screentest ones but this did feel weaker compared to past ones. I agree with your opinion on the It girl thanksgiving one, I didn't recognize half of the impressions in that one.
Insane that they let him go after only one season. Angelo was an instant hit, I still watch it
Nice
22:53 Before he was slapped by will smith, chris rock was cold cocked by a can of Coldcock beer
For anyone that doesn't know what BRAT means and does not want to spend the time to listen to her album, these are some concepts associated with brat: being a partygirl, being gay (although she is not and you don't have to be to be a partygirl or enjoy her music), sharp lime green, arial text with odd spacing, black and white, smoking/drugs, emotional vulnerability, not liking the press, getting older, introspection, reflection, being an it girl, being the moment, living in the moment while reflecting on the past, london, Italy (Sorrento?), being in love, thinking about your parents, being awkward and self-deprecating, the club, cult classics, being busy, traveling, mourning, girl/womanhood, relationships with your friends, mean girls, pop music, and club music.
This episode really helped out this mediocre season.
Surprised you didn´t mentioned the infamous Red Hot Chili Peppers performance where their guitar player John Frusciante deliberately played the wrong notes for Under the bridge and was shouting the final chorus which eventually lead to him quiting the band months later
Never heard of Charlie XCS before this episode. Wow! She delivered in a HUGE way. Funniest and most entertaining host so far this year. Leaps and bounds above (my 2 favorite comics) Bill Burr and Mulaney.
I love these videos! WOW, Wally with hair! Melanie Hutsel was much maliciously hated! Entertainment Weekly declared her the woman of 1000 faces that are all the same! 😮
you two are giving creep vibes
Prediction: on the 50th special they'll have Da Bears guys singing about how Domingo ruined their fantasy football draft
So Dick Ebersol didn’t stabilize the show in his run? Interesting that you skipped over him and Eddie to give credit to Loren. Especially citing the next golden era. 🤔
Chris Rock as X .. predicting Amber Ruffin
I recently watched the movie Saturday Night and felt compelled to explore the history of my once-favorite show on NBC. Thank you for sharing this video about the SNL shows.
I laughed through out this entire episode. This was definitely the golden years of SNL, with the absolute funniest cast in comedy history.
These episodes are like having your life "flash before your eyes" without having to die.
