Amanda nailed it here. What has made the past seven years of political humor on SNL so lackluster (specifically with the 2020 election coverage) was that they didn’t have a coherent, humorous, and honest take. And I believe that can be blamed partially due to bringing on celebrities to portray these people. I can’t even tell you what was at the crux of Carrey’s Biden, and I don’t think he could tell you either. And I do think it is possible to make some great satire out of this election. And yes, it is crazy, but like Amanda said, you have to try harder. You can’t just copy what the candidates have said. They’re so lucky right now. They don’t have to stick to the debates. As Jon stated, they can do whatever scene they want. It just has to have a take that makes sense, elevated by performers (preferably people in the cast) who can make a character out of these ridiculous politicians.
Can you imagine being a highschool teacher and a kid recommends you run get into politics then years later Steve Martin pretends to be you on Saturday Night Live? Win or Lose Tim Walz is living the GOAT life right now
Expecting Jim Carey back as Biden at least once, maybe some kind of "goodbye speech" scene for Biden..... But Bill Hader coming in as old Biden would be golden! I don't see why James Austin Johnson can't play Trump this season, even if Lorne wants a different spin on it. But where is Darrell Hammond right now? I could see him playing someone during this 50th season.
JAJ does the best Trump impression

How SNL Should Cover the 2024 Election ... they shouldn't.
Alec Baldwin played the best Trump! Mya Rudolf the best Kamala Harris! Jason Sudakis best Biden! 😅

Why not bring Alec Baldwin back, he deserves a comeback.
He might not want to do it -
at least not right now ...
Mikey Day MUST be J.D.V.
The problem is that the writers are too partisan.
SNL has lost all it's edge that made it iconic plus Mya sucks as Harris
