We used to have these in Ontario Canada when they were around I’m trying to look for one in Ontario to use as a cargo bus 🚌

key pieces of advice and i couid care less if you take it negatively. You're obviously a child playing with big boy toys and not knowledgeable with mechanics. But, that 'beeping' you heard at 9:15 was the low battery beep. Secondly, The reason why that bus took so long to come to life was because it has a larger displacement of motor, and the oil was thick because it was cold out. There was NOTHING to worry about. Also revving a cold motor especially a diesel right after its been start is one way to score the cylinder walls, even detonation. You're not cool by revving a cold motor. It's best and proper to start it and walk away even if it's stumbling or running on two cylinders, its better to NOT rev it, let the oil come to temperature, and the stumbling will go away as each cylinder get's oil pressure. Again, not being a dick, just giving constructive criticism
@@tylerallan313 I get what you’re saying However clearly you’re missing the point that I’ve mentioned multiple times This bus needs a new engine, I don’t care whatsoever happens to it from now until then Maybe if it was actually in good shape I’d be easy on it but I’m just preparing for when I get a donor bus to engine swap

The clicking on startup sounds like the IC CE’s.
Here in the uk, in around 2015 bus engine downsizing craze began with 4 cylinder engines in double deckers. However in north america you guys had 4 cylinder series 50 in long 12-13m transit buses since late 1993 and early 1994 with d40lf. Ireland had detroit 6v71 double decker gac kd, and any detroit engine is very rare in uk
46 is probably the most annoying to start

Yes unless you want to cold start it.
This Could Be Due To A Dead Battery.
Another thing I've been told, Run a proper mix of HOT SHOT DIESEL EXTREME in tis bus. 1 $20 bottle treats 80 gallons. It'l clean your injectors and boost the Cetane of your fuel. I was told to run that stuff for about 300 gallons of fuel treatment and it'll clean the fuel system, pumps and injectors, also run better with the Cetane boost and improve mpg too, so if it adds .25 cents a gallon to my fuel cost, I'll just run it for every tank full and keep it all clean and the Cetane boost to imporve mpg and power. I get the stuff at Wally World for $20 a bottle for the 32oz 1qt bottle that treats 80 gallons. I've yet to get to see if the stuff makes a difference but this guy claims it's great stuff for a C7 and he's a CAT guy.

@ThatOneLT1 wow that's alot of miles, I've rode on a good few of these buses with the c7 cats and they sound very good especially on takeoff
@@dustinlanphear422 Indeed this bus is no exception She's just a bit cranky when it's cold and when it warms up she runs like new

Bad injectors and bad compression Engine needs overhaul
Not a bad starter at all. I have a feeling it's injector O rings needs replaced. What I'd do is take out the injectors, take them to a place that can bench test them rebuild the ones that need it, and replace all the O Rings and I bet it's much better. For 1, CATs are col natured. Even newer ones don't ;like to start in teh cold. All the gray smoke is a sign of injector O rings too, so I"ve been told. I also have a 2005 C7. Similar problem, not near as bad, but prety close. Once warmed up, runs fantastic. Not hard to start at all about 60 degree.s or so.
@@ThatOneLT1 Did you compression test it? I don't think it needs an overhaul. I've been told this issus is caused by bad injector O rings. I have a C7 and it's a similar problem. I probably have even more gray smoke at start up than you do, but mine is a bit easiere to start, not by much, but a little easier. And it rattles and misses for a few seocnds once it does start, then smoothes out and the smoke quits. I hope this diesel machanic that old me it's just injector O rings is correct.
@@NomadicHookerengine is extremely worn out after 20 years of use Has 1 bad known injector that leaks and piston rings are worn out This thing has so much blowby it’s unbelievable I do plan an overhaul or engine swap down the road Only good thing on this bus is the turbo, it’s almost brand new
@@ThatOneLT1 hmm, I thought it only had like 180,000 miles on it. Shouldn't have much blow by at 180,000. Makes me wonder if it didn't sit for a very long time and the rings have serized. If that's the case, Some treatment in the oil and driving it, getting it good and hot can possible free the rings and get them to reseat and start working again. I hear that hot shot diesel extreme is supposed to be good enough that'llt'll actually repair some injectors. Something to do with cleaning the tips or some part in the injector that can either make an injector hang open, not shut offf properly, and/or a bad spray pattern.
