Sunday we started dead last because we did not qualify due to weather. 26 FA cars in the class and I finished P10. Race had a ton of yellow flags so push laps was limited but still a blast to race on the famous track.

    FYI: When travelling at 100 MPH, air pressure into the intake apperture will be 0.17 PSI (for a given surface area). Thus, if the atmospheric pressure is 14.7 PSI, the extra air from the ram effect contributes approx 1% more air pressure (and hence oxygen). Obviously you could increase this somewhat, by tappering/narrowing the inlet apperture into the airbox.

    • @NixonMotorsports
      @NixonMotorsports День назад

      Great information thanks for sharing!

    • @NevContractor1
      @NevContractor1 10 часов назад

      @@NixonMotorsports If you were to taper the inlet that leads from the overhead apperture to the airbox by a 3:1 ratio, you might approx double the pressure to around 0.3 PSI (depending on losses due to friction and other things). At best maybe you'd get 2% more oxygen into the engine. You'd then need to calculate the air resistance the inlet apperture is making at the same speed (thus slowing you down), to see if it was worth it...

      Great question, I’ve done both new and used engines. The one reason I’ve gone the new engine path was because engines over time have advantages big or small incorporated in them over the years for either reliability or performance. That’s why I go with new engines to get the latest technology. Regardless new or used you would need to have the engine builder do their thing and have it on the dyno before you install. does anyone use a v4 engine? It looks like it would fit. Also if you have not already look into spit throttles or at least power(fuel and/or ignition)cut to cylinder 1 and 2 for better part throttle power delivery.

    • @NixonMotorsports
      @NixonMotorsports Месяц назад

      I have not seen anyone using a V4 engine, as long as it is a motorcycle engine at no more than 1000cc it is allowed. On trick fuel and ignition trims or other we do use as you see Motec ECU and have tons of options like that. For example I have two injectors per cylinder (one in the throttle bodies and one 6-7” above the throttle body blades). I have different injector timing because of delay based on length. This allows for some extra power and fuel savings. A fun topic, the F1000 running in FA class allows a lot of freedom for such ideas. Cheers

      @@NixonMotorsports you should look into how world super bike use their motec systems to improve traction on their 1000cc engines. Your engine has Ti rods because wsbk will not let you change your rods therefor a true homologation special. The new fireblade features split throttle on the 2024 even though it is banned is wsbk. Most if not all the teams in British and world use motec so motec is the way to go with these 1000s. Personally i think the ducati v4 and honda i4 are the best power wise and bmw is very close with some clever tech (shift cam) for better mid range. I would love to know why you chose 4 into 1 headers instead of tri y. have you tested both? I know all super bikes and nascar use tri y and f1 used to use 4 into 1 as well as formula atlantic. I know 4 into is more compact which explains f1 since they alpine was recently running unequal length. If you can try to talk to the super bike guys since they will have proper factory cnc porting programs which you might be able to get your hands on. A ducati v4 would suit the ferrari livery very well.

      Great question, for me I selected the ZX10R only because I knew I could purchase dry sump kits for the engine. My guess, any one of the modern super bike 1k engines would work very well. There is packaging to also consider, meaning how well will the engine fit in the bay and such. In my circle here in the US, majority of F1000 and P1 race cars are using ZX10R. Cheers

    Hey man! Thank you for the video, I have actually been in pursuit of something like this for ourselves. I have a few questions/potential remedies for the line of sight connection, is it okay to reach out to the sales email on your site or is there a preferred method of contact for you? Thanks!

    Hey Mark! Congrats! Have you ever considered doing in depth videos on your car detailing running cost, maintenance, build list, etc. Feel like that would garner a lot of views! Way to go on PB!! What a lap. Just curious - do you know your speeds into and through turn 6 and turning into 7? I didnt think you were going to get her slowed down at 7 but you nailed it and then aced the apex at 8! Way to go!

      Great idea on video suggestions, I have considered doing that for sometime I will make an effort and put this together as I do think many people would find it informative. On speeds in 6/7 at ECR yes I do have that but not with me at the moment as I am away and no data access. Off memory I believe I run into 6-7 around 120-122 mph. Thanks for the nice words, it was a good lap so I am very pleased with it. I do know now If all conditions are there and I can string it together a 1:44.5 is possible. Great track in my view. Cheers

    Looks like you could reduce the radiator area due to the low temperatures of the engine. Same for the oil cooler. This could reduce drag.

    Good vid, I like seeing how everything is put together in different cars. For the issue with the bolts backing out of your diff what I do is mark all the bolts on the car with viz torque/anti tamper stuff so I can just look at everything in between sessions and see if anything moved really easily.

    I worked for Avon tyres in the uk for 42 years and was proud of the quality of tyres we made i turned the lights out in my department for the last time in dec 2023 and just hope the new manufacturer nova can keep the quality of such a world quality product.

      42 years! That is impressive. As a strong supporter of Avon myself, thank you for making such a great racing tire/tyre. I agree with you, I sure hope Nova will continue to build the same product with its previous quality. Stay in touch with this channel, I will have more news on Nova soon. Cheers

    DANG that looks good! The wife has 2023 392 XR in white and I’ve got 22 392 Not a xr in white and man now I want them both on 37’s did you regear? What did they charge labor wise to install your lift? Think I can keep my stock wheels? Sorry for all this just seeing yours makes me want to know everything about it!!! 🍻

    • @NixonMotorsports
      @NixonMotorsports 3 месяца назад

      I did not regear, it seems fine with no need. The 392 has more than enough power to handle it in my opinion. If I recall correctly my lift install cost was about $1700 where I purchased the parts beforehand. You can add 37’s and no lift, my wheels are -18mm so that may help but with no lift I had no clearance issues on the road. You could use the stock wheels with 37’s with the lift for sure. Cheers

      I go back and forth between helmet cam and the overhead camera I like both of them, Glad you do as well. The negative starting up front is the race seems rather boring from a spectator view I agree. Check out another race video that will come out in a few weeks where I started in the rear of the 22 car field and finished P3. Lots of overtaking, I suspect you will enjoy that one. Thanks for the comment! Cheers
