Does it ever make You wonder though if "technology" isn't the be all and end all when a set of old Avons can last a half hour race and still bring the driver home as the winner ? I must say I envy seeing how controlled Your oil temp. is If only We could get a temperature like that in our 15minute Mono in the UK I would be delighted . How many heat cycles had that set of tyres seen ?
You are correct, technology is not always faster, in fact it can cause complexity and failures. For me, I enjoy the abundance of data to help me understand what I believe I am feeling while driving. Also because I find it cool and I have more than enough minimum weight in the car to handle it. On the Avon side, yes for sure we had the conversation more than once about the life of the tires. It was amazing that they lasted over 220 miles. Who knew.. Performance of the tire was for sure not ideal but they did a good job and held together.
