Abandoned Power Plant - EVERYTHING LEFT BEHIND - (With Power)
Imagine when this building was being built--and then what those builders would have thought of it in its present state. The craftsmen, steelworkers, masons, painters, carpenters--all spinning in their graves.
Went to see an attorney here in 2018…. Seemed ok then, just an old office building…. Crazy they let it go so fast
would be a cool place to live off cheap rent but you couldnt imagine the unstable living conditions. lol
I’m surprised a building in that location sits vacant with the downtown revitalization. Especially with how much of downtown was fixed up and some projects in the works.
I didn’t even realize this was vacant now. They tagged the sh!t out of that bldg lol. The marble is beautiful still. The shot on the roof was an awesome view of Cleveland. My anxiety went up watching that part 😂 cool video
Had no idea this was abandoned
And why doesn't the Rockefeller Family come back to renovate/restore this building? Or did they abandon the building and the city of Cleveland like all the other spoiled ungrateful decedents of so many other historic family names in America?
In the 70's and 80's this was the place to be! Center mall area had numerous water fountains and sculptures. The string cylinder with the oil droplets descending each string at a slightly different rate was memorizing to watch. The new design does look nice, clean and modern, but is no longer unique. The best store in the mall by fall was Hobby Horse! As a kid in the 70's they had everything - slot cars, trains, plastic model kits of cars, truck, ships, tanks - you name it. They even had model rockets and engines!
i used to go here constantly ☹☹☹
I work on this place. Super crappy inside
Did you guys ever come across that casket in the basement that was locked? Last time there was one but it was locked and we couldn’t open it. Thanks for the video!
Surprised to see it already in this state. Probably 5-6 months ago I was buying auctioned off items from various tenants in that building. Guess it never got renovated after kicking everyone from it. I loved the old school elevators
I don’t know what to say, I’m totally shocked at all the stores that are closed! I use to work at Taco Bell which is no longer in the food court from 1998 to 2002 I was in high school at the time and it was so much fun! I go to Brookfield a few times a year but mainly for the restaurants outside like bravo, and bar Louie and the Marcus movie tavern! This mall will always be special to me!
I've been there twice in 30 years lol
Great building to fix up for homeless vets
Just imagine how much all that marble cost
The marble and brass and metal fixtures are probably worth more than the building
I used to sneak up to the roof before it was abandoned this is wild
All that graffiti seems so pointless.
Crazy, I was in that building in 2018 to see Frank the Dog Bite Lawyer….
The title is a bit misleading - it isn't abandoned in the traditional sense. It was purchased and there were plans for apartments, but it's relisted now. It'll be flipped soon.
This building should be used for housing the homeless, why doesn't the mayor and council, keep the homeless from freezing in the winter
Check cashing, wigs/nails, Vape shops. And cockroaches.
The Rockefellers should be fined for abandoning that building because if my grass is too tall in my front yard or I have a broken down car in my front yard. I will get severely fined.
That building is beautiful and I believe someone could save it. But you cant save Cleveland
Aladdin's Castle, Sears and KB Toys were where I spent most of my time. What was the store where you could buy cassettes and CDs? Sam Goody?
It’s always busy when I drive by
So sad to see this. This used to be a very nice mall. I hate shopping online. Would love to go back to good stores and malls like these
I was there two months ago We are all skipping a couple observations: 1) blue mound rd is adjacent to the mall and runs for 4-5 miles and is busier than ever. Non-digital retail is not only alive and well, but thriving 2) the businesses that are on the exterior or the mall all refuse to be connected to the mall. I had to walk out of whirrly-ball to go into another entrance to the mall So why does retail thrive but refuse to connect to a mall? My theory: it’s the teen crime problem plaguing most urban malls. That’s the number one driver for the death of American malls
Rumor has Bernie Kosar is buying the building & turning into a rehabilitation center w his porn star daughter
This was a really cool exploration of that old building. Felt like a Fallout game. I was having expecting to see some Super mutants attack.
What the fuck do you mean it's abandoned? I worked in this building for 2 years on one of my best projects of my career. I stopped around when covid happaned. There where offices everywhere in there. Jesus thats just disgusting.....
Turn Brookfield Square into a gigantic multi-sport indoor facility. Allowing space for tennis/pickleball. Multiple indoor soccer fields (similar to elmbrook indoor soccer facility) that can be used for football, cricket, and ultimate frisbee as well. Baseball pitching machines and an area to practice pitching with up-to-date radars. Maybe even an ice rink. A weight room, swimming pools, sauna/steam room. It's Wisconsin so definitely a bar. Rec room and a child care center. Run camps and different memberships for specific areas that each customer prefers. There's your billion dollars idea Brookfield.
it’s been partially abandoned for over 10 years, We used to hit the roof in 2016 while still active like it was nothing
Last I saw it was a few years ago give or take on layover between bus rides back to the auto shop I left my car at. What a sad sight.
Worked in there on the 4th floor almost 20 years ago. Had an old school barber shop and gyro spot on the main floor. No longer live in Cleveland; went back to the suburbs near Cincy and a couple miles from the IN/OH line.
The Movie Tavern is our theatre of choice. We go there most every week. Nice place. But yeah the mall is pretty dead. I remember back when the movie theater was across from the Sears.
I'm so old i remember when there was a movie theater there in 60's. I mall walk there and its pretty dead most of the time.
Was in there the first couple of days during lockdown. Everything inside and in the streets were dead. I discovered that piano and hit a key. It was incredibly loud. All stealth was gone. That felt like the longest piano note in my life.
Lived on w128th in the 70s . Seen many movies there
I remember going on a tour of the building in the late 1970's-early 1980's. I distinctly remember a train station that I assumed was for the subway trolley tracks that were on the lower level of the Detroit Superior Veterans Bridge in the basement of the Rockefeller Building. Did you come across any remnants of that?
That’s super interesting! I’m assuming that’s the waterlogged area in this video, or around there, I’d love to see what it had looked like tho! Thanks for sharing and watching!
That is what I would assume. It was such a vivid memory. I can not believe any of the Cleveland history buffs would not have known about it.
You could tell this one touched you , great content , not too mention your words of wisdom , touching loved it !
Thank you!❤️
Last year I did a mini-vacation. Currently living in Minneapolis. Wanted to see what Milwaukee was like. Made a reservation at Holiday Inn down the street from this Mall. You can tell this is a Upper Class area or what i saw. Decided to stop and get Chick-fil-A. Whiles waiting in line glanced over and just thought it was a Shopping Center. It seemed busy, but i never stopped in to see what it was like. Its ashame as beautiful as this Mall is. Its on the list of Dying Malls. Unfortunately this is nothing new. The Malls Fad from the 80s and 90s are no more. I noticed a change in Malls by the Mid 2000s. Im originally from Philadelphia/Jersey area. Lived in Maryland as well. Most Malls are torn down or converted into Condos with Supermarkets underneath.
WTF??? I actually played a gig in this building not that long ago. Why did they let this happen - so they can destroy it and put up more ugly bullshit?
I live down the road. 15 years ago I was here on a weekly basis. Today, I can’t even remember the last time I was in a retail stores. Years. Crazy how fast everything changes.
The mall inside is dead, but the surrounding retail and entertainment is booming. They’re also building a mixed use plaza where Boston Store used to reside. I’d say this is more of an “in transition” space.
Could have edited at least 8 minutes
When I was in high school it was a fun place to be.
Last time I was in JC Penney here a woman stole two massive arm full of clothing setting off the alarms. No one even batted an eye. The employees didn't even look up.
2:50 THATS NOT TOWER CITY
This definitely is a TOP QUALITY PRODUCTION
