It was my understanding from my father Tony Knott who was the director of the Buhl club that Hugh Gamble lived upstairs. I loved the Buhl Club growing up and wandering and exploring everywhere but never went past the silver chain that went across the stairway to the apartment. I loved your video it took me back to a wonderful time in my childhood!
Yes! That was him, he responded when we asked if it was him which surprised me and the staff forsure! Thank you so much for your kind words! I also explored the building a lot during my time going there, and am really happy to have a video up so everyone can walk thru it the way it used to be!
I WAS A MEMBER OF THE CLUB, I ALSO USE TO HAVE A SHARON HERALD PAPER ROUTE THAT I DELIVERED THE PAPER THERE AS WELL AS THE BUHL'S GIRL CLUB PLUS A LOT OF BUSINESS LKE THE RED CROSS, LIBERTY AND ETC. I ALSO WAS HIGHER BY MR. GAMBLE. I WORKEDON THE THRID FLOOR WHERE THERE WAS 2 GAMING ROOMS 1 FOR SENIORS AND ONE FOR CHILDREN. WHERE THERE WERE POOL TABLES, PING PONG TABLES, SHUFFLE BOARD, AND ALSO THEY BROUGHT IN LITTLE ECLECT MINI RACE CARS TRACKES FOR THE KIDS. I WORK THERE FOR ABOUT 3 YEARS TILL MY FAMILY MOVIED TO HICKORY WHICH IS NOW CALL HERMITAGE, PA. OH AND THE FELLOW WHO WAS IN CHARGE OF THE GAME ROOMS WAS NAME CAP. MR. RECORK WAS IN CHARGE OF THE GYM ACCTIVETY. THIS WAS ABOUT LATE 50'S TO EARLY 60'S.
My youth group held a lock-in there in Jan 2003 and it was incredibly spooky. Strangely enough the fourth floor was open to us and it wasn't among the spookiest areas, there was a stereo system up there with giant speakers. A friend of mine and I performed an impromptu Brooks & Dunn tribute concert up there that night.
Spent many days running around there in the winter as a kid, great times
You know what is weird at 10:50 the man plays Summer Nights, the next day after this is filmed Olivia Newton John died.
