What are you unhappy you won't go to Mexico? When I drove I was very happy to drop in Laredo so a Mexican could take it across the border. And YES, I knew and still know many (most??) of their trucks can't pass a DOT inspection. When I drove (08-10) I was told they could only go 10mi in so they could go to the switching dock. (I forget what the proper name is, sorry.) Are you saying that is no longer the case? Because if this is true then they should have to conform to DOT. If Mexico is fine with the unsafe trucks in their country, that is on them. If a US driver wants to go into Mexcio to drop off a trailer, knock yourself out. If companies wish to put the trailers on rail cars and move them across the border and then take them off so that the border towns don't have to deal with shitty trucks, I am ALL for that, but until then this is what we have to deal with.

The Sprinter/cargo van drivers are VERY, tight lipped. I think a big reason is because it is so easy to get into. No special rules, license, and the cost of buying one is miniscule compared to large trucks. So between the amount of people doing it and the amount that don't think about money properly AND don't realize how much you must drive, amoung other things, the drivers do not want to tell anyone cause that person might go undercut them; find your own stuff or get out. Once you get over 10lbs GVWR the rules change significantly and that alone weeds out those who.are just looking for a easy buck. I could be wrong. Hey brother. I’m currently with Mercer. I started in June 24’. Got a load from WI to Atlanta (where I live) and had clutch issues. Took truck to Freightliner n went home. 3 months it took because it’s under warranty and the freightliner dealer where I bought it and the Freightliner i took it too, well neither wanted to pay the warranty repair. Then I head out on 11th, Ga to Nebraska. I deliver and they tell me I’m out of service because I need to pay my 2290. I’m broke! Sold my own car to keep a float. Begged them to help me get their trailer back and they said park it in a safe spot. No fuel money, haven’t heard one peep from Mercer sand I guess I live in Lincoln now!

I hear you and am right with you there. I too have had to become a road warrior. I need to be home but I can’t afford to go home and I can’t afford to sell my equipment right now. I am stuck. I would like to believe that we are on the cusp of change right now but I will see it when I believe it. Unfortunately we are not the only industry that has been slammed. The media has been gaslighting us in regards to how bad the economy has been. The markets are being held up by money printing and there is far more inflation and far less jobs being created than they will admit. Hopefully God hasn’t abandoned this nation yet (like ancient Israel) to leave us to our own wicked trends. Hopefully we still have a day of grace to repent as a nation from some of this awful wickedness.

You mentioned clearing $800 after all the expenses. Not sure if the $1,400 was your gross pay after the 20% but you don't mention good old taxes. So figure 25% off of the $800 in your pocket minus taxes from $1,400 so $350 off of $800 clear $450 not bad pay. Now if you figured all the hours of driving and waiting. Then what would it be??

I know this is three years ago, but they forgot to take out SS money and Federal taxes so figure around 25% of $7,600 or about $1,900 off of $7,600 so that $6123.43 now become $4,223.43 still not too bad of a wage. Just need to remember all the hours driving and waiting to get unload and loaded.

It takes 6wks to get processed with Landstar, then 1-2 days to get a trailer, and Agents/Brokers stop taking calls after 06pm.
