Thoroughly enjoyed this one, loved the shot at 22:28, the colours, the light and your riding/cutting through the middle with the score, superb little bit of amateur filming. Brilliant actually. I wonder... perhaps the big camera is becoming overkill for this kind of work/content? I wonder if something like the DJI Pocket 3 could replace and release you from some weight burden. Or take the story telling to the next level and replace the big camera with a drone. Might be similar space/weight but your locations seem to really scream out for it! (and you might not have to constantly bike back to pick it up, set it to follow you, done! 😆) But I dunno much about drones... Enjoying the banter too, looking forward to the next one 🙂

Cheers Eddy!!.. yeah I've been wanting a drone for a few years, there's definitely some good shots out there for that format. I've nearly pulled the trigger several times but I'm so tight it's quite unbelievable actually. I think the fear of popping £700 in a loch is real.. then I think we'll I could upgrade my main camera.. or get a replacement for the osmo action 1.. I get paralysed so close the browser and buy nothing instead lol. It will happen one day I'm sure 😃

Hi Tom, great video, I thoroughly enjoyed it. I love the pogies. I've been on the lookout for a set compatible with my Jones (loop) bars, but have not located any. I'm guessing you were riding flat bar? Where did you get your pogies and do you think they would work on a loop bar? Huge thanks for the shoutout (and compliment), very much appreciated. I also had loads of cold weather related tech problems on my recent tour. The battery pack supplied with my GoPro 8 shuts down at around 30% in sub-zero conditions. I've partially solved this by buying non-branded batteries (Amazon) and these seem to hold the power well, and once fully charged they charge last for a long time. However, they really need mains power to give them a full charge. I found that my most powerful power bank was only able to take them up to around 60%. Oh, the joys of winter filming.I ended up carrying a ton of batteries! Keep up the good work and thanks again for the shoutout. ATB, Dave

Thanks Dave for your kind words - our bikes are standard flat bars, well mine has a loop but thats not important with relation to pogies - I would imagine they would be ok with the Jones bar but I've never tried that combo (or even a jones bat at all) so I have to stop short of guaranteeing it would be a good fit I'm afraid - I can't remember the shop I got the pogies at but it was an online British company as I recall and they weren't too dear (about £25 a pair I think?) - the company did all sorts of pogies for paddles and the like as well - love the winter and all its challenges but I'm firmly in the 'looking forward to spring' camp now! - hopefully we can get out again but my work schedule is really busy up to April this year so we'll have to see.. - Give my regards to Mo - ATB Tom

@@hikebikescotland9121 Thanks, Tom. I'll take a chance on the pogies and let you know how they work with loop bars. If they are not suitable, I can still use them on my flat bar bike, which I use for day trips along the lanes where I live. Cheers, D

It was a bit hill billy Kev!! - still the down stuff was doing its job! - The Burma Road is certainly an easy way to bag that Corbett but I suspect there might be more interesting ways to do it on foot... but still it would be a good walk nonetheless!

Great to see you back out Tom, and what a beautiful trip it was too! Beautiful shot of your tent and bikes at 9:47 and bikes at 10:06 , and your packing away time lapse was simply stunning! If there's a Google Earth pic of that white-out I'm sure that your pogies would still be visible 🤣👍 Looks like Mrs HBS got your old pogies 😁 Thanks again 👍🚲⛺❄️⛄

Thanks Kris! The weather is I think on the turn so maybe this weekends cold blast is the last and some warmer weather will be forth coming!! Gear wise there's a lot of ways to skin a cat and no rights or wrongs in my book . Bike, tent, cooking/food stuff sleep system and clothes really sums it up to be honest.. you can spend a fortune but you don't have to.. at least not for non-middle of winter camps where you do (IMO) need to spend a bit more on mats sleeping bags/down jackets etc . Good luck!! You'll have a great time when you do it I promise!! - ATB Tom

High up camp looks so atmospheric but it has to be a really cold long night at this time of year, well at least no midges🙂Well done to you both! PS. Btw just did Rannoch - Dalnaspidal - Trinafour - Rannoch cycle with wife and dogs with overnight at Duinish. Thanks again for all the info about the trail in between the bothy and loch Garry. Thank you for the video. Invermark was to protect the drove roads from the Cattanach’s, raiders from across the hills in Strathdee (now known as Deeside). It was then used by the British army to suppress rebellion in the glens. Apparently several redcoats were dumped into Loch Lee. I grew up nearby, so was great seeing the places I know so well.
