Pca student from k4-8th grade here, I am currently in the regular public school system but I remember all of this greatly one thing was that I memorized some many Bible verses and songs also the false information in areas like science and history are shown like denying evolution and justifying American imperialism it is sad as many of the friends i left behind are still in this system I was always a "rebel" in their system after I adopted leftist views. I also got suspended twice for getting too many detention as their rules were awful like getting a notice for eating crackers on a bus (they weren't even mine) and getting bullied and teachers barely doing anything if anybody has questions please reply I will try to get to them.

Awana was where I was first bullied. It was where I first felt actual shame for “not being good enough.” I was bullied by both peers and (at least, I can’t remember) one leader. I didn’t go to church where I attended Awana. I was homeschooled & went with other friends who attended that church. The amount hurt I felt from being excluded and targeted by both students and leaders who would make mean comments and attempt to make me feel left out sticks with me to this day. It truly was my first memory of being an outcast. I was 6-8 years old. I kept going because I wanted to belong. I never belonged. Thank you for making a video on this. I had kind of swept a lot of these memories under the rug.

Another thing; the part where he claims that if a woman will just give her husband a chance to lead the family and give him full authority in that area will not lead to abuse if he is a good man, claiming that if he is a bad man the abuse is going to happen either way is false. My mom and dad are great people, but they were brainwashed by a extremely conservative church many years ago, and my mom, who has more common sense than my dad, tried for a long time to disagree with the religious abuse. My family endured by this church, but because they told her that the wife Hass to submit to whatever the man decides, it took seven years for my family to leave that church. My dad is not a bad man at all, but he was very brainwashed and stubborn, and although he loves my mom a lot, he allowed my family to go to a church that did not believe in going to any type of doctor for anything, taking any type of medicine for anything, we were taught women wearing pants was wicked, and you would practically go to hell for anything you did. My mom almost died in pregnancy and childbirth with five of her children because she was not allowed to have proper medical help for her extreme pregnancy complications. A young man in that church died of pneumonia or something because he was brainwashed into thinking that if he went to the hospital that was a lack of faith, and his whole church. Encouraged him to just pray and trust he was healed. He died at 18 years old for absolutely no reason. Religious abuse occurs even among people who are not evil religious abuse occurs because people can be well-meaning and even kind people, but sincerely messed up in their minds.

Yeah, this book is just so obviously based on his own personal experiences and viewpoints. My boyfriends a jerk sometimes but one thing I don’t doubt is that he loves me, all the time, unconditionally. I couldn’t get him to stop loving me if I tried. Because he’s IN LOVE WITH ME. And women are not all naturally loving; it’s not built into our dna like the book says. Maybe I am, but I know a lot of ladies that are icy af and their husbands are the lovey ones. Like, there is just so many untrue things in this book.

Way to go people. You are so strong. Use your own mind and question. Anyone making a religious or spiritual claim has the burden of proof. That’s how logic works. So many people get sucked into cults or nonsense because they don’t use critical thinking skills

It never ceases to amaze me. No fundies are the least bit creeped out that God is allegedly sitting up there, watching people masturbate. More importantly, the whole purity culture nonsense makes me so angry as an adult. Teenagers, especially boys, have a libido that is in overdrive. This is perfectly normal, and no teenager should ever feel ashamed or embarrassed about this. I cannot think of a worse form of emotional abuse than telling a teenager that it is a sin to masturbate. They should be enjoying the short refractory periods and frequent orgasms while that overdrive lasts. They should not be living in soul-crushing guilt, shame, depression, and fear of Hell, all because of a perfectly normal and healthy self-care activity.

I always get nauseated by these domineering, patriarchal views supported by the Bible. I came to the conclusion that the Bible is the source of this interpretation and not just the clearly manipulative, power-hungry men who have God syndrome and use the Bible as support for their lunatic and evil behaviour. This "God" is clearly that same mould. I tend to view the gnostic approach as the true, truly human, compassionate and love-focused way where we can know, experience and live the truth directly, and that truth is anything but control, domination, exploitation and violence.
