This is a wonderful video! I always felt like shadow specifically can be heavily reacted too by gay (and trans) people. A lot of his character is about finding his identity, and trying to figure out if he should stay true to himself or follow other people. In a lot of his games he’s being told (or tricked) to do something (normally destroy the world) but he’s also always plagued by Maria’s wish in a way that (as shown in shadow generations) brings a lot of anger to him, despite how good intention she was while making it. I find that (especially from a trans perspective) it’s easy to give into others, to start not correcting them when they say the wrong pronoun, or telling anyone about it just because you start thinking it’d be easier for others that way, even when it’s disregarding your own emotions. Shadows character is all about being different and embracing himself for it, which is easy to see how it strongly relates to queer people. But even if he’s accepted himself he seems to still be on a downwards spiral in generations (which I also think many queer people can relate, problems don’t stop after you realize or even accept yourself, if anything it can be somewhat harder at times) And having shadows family in generations support him is very sweet. Hope that made sense, I love shadow so much and as a trans person he’s a very dear character to me, wonderful video by the way! I love how you compared it to other stories!

"голубой" means "light-blue / cyan" in Russian, but is also a purposefully offensive/derogatory term to describe gay (usually "feminine") men I would know, I'm a Ukrainian living in a place where many people speak Russian as their first language, which isn't surprising due to our country being under Russian colonial occupation for so many years Anyway, It's kinda insane being a gay autist, like, *why* do I wanna kiss wolf-people so bad???

Going into this video essay, I was mostly expecting something light-hearted and maybe a little silly... and I did get that. However, I more importantly got something extremely insightful and reflective - on queerness, on fandom, and on multi-faceted identity - everything was interconnected and it made me think about *my* personal experiences as a queer person through the lens of fandom; Something I wasn't expecting to do today, but am grateful I did nonetheless. This video essay was well researched and well articulated, and I'm honestly very thankful that RUclips recommended this to me! You've definitely gained a new subscriber, and I am now excited to go back and watch you other videos as well! Thank you for this upload <3
