    It was really interesting to see another take on the second season especially with view being so split, I definitely agree that there are probably other/better decisions they could have made with some of the characters but overall I would still call this season good, not better then the first but certainly not bad. I did find out that they originally wanted to have 13 episodes like season one but they had to cut it down to 10, and considering Pam was the feature of this season I imagen those extra three episodes are where we lost some of the character work and why some things felt a bit rushed, with the other characters plotlines. I also agree that that scene in episode seven was definitely meant to draw parallels to the sheet tent scene, and while the scene was painful I always saw it as Guy was just so worried and concerned that Pam isn't being honest with Sam (after the small talk he had with her), like they defiantly could have resolved it better, but Guy knows how much Sam has wanted to find his mum and how much he's been awaiting the moment for her to make him green eggs and ham again, and to hear that she hasn't and thinking that she's only concerned with the mission Guy simply just doesn't want to see his best friend get hurt again especially by the same person and someone he's been waiting on his whole life.
    Sorry that was so long I just have a lot of thoughts about this season.

      That’s a very good point. I’d never thought of it that way. I always saw it as Guy just being way too over protective and unreasonable towards both Sam and EB. I felt like he and EB’s relationship NEVER got fully resolved by the end of the second season. I personally felt that by the later half of the season, both EB and Guy have both become so unlikable and so out of character at times and that I NEVER got any indication that their relationship ever got fully resolved and that it made me ABSOLUTELY furious!!!! 😡😡😡

    Yeah I 100% agree with you. I too, felt that the character dynamics in the second season was so uncomfortably poor. I HATE episode 7 Guyfall because they made both Eb and Guy so uncharacteristically unlikable. EB becomes so resentful and bitter towards Guy which is understandable cause Guy got Looka arrested so that she can be protected but then she said something to him that just broke my heart for Guy and made me HATED her even more is when she flat out tells him that he’s gonna be “a terrible father to this baby” because to her, he’s been terrible to her (which is a complete lie) and she NEVER APOLOGIZES to Guy for that and all the harsh and mean, terrible words she said to him that it made me wanna slap her across the face in a fit of rage. I seriously hated EB because she NEVER learns from her own mistakes and never apologizes for her actions and words. Also with Guy, I felt like he was taking 2 steps back in terms of how convinced and trusting he was with Pam is a bad mother and even tries to turn Sam against his own mother which was uncomfortably mean spirited and the fact that he refused to listen to Sam and EB and hear the both out and being so brain washed and negatively influenced by the Zooks that the yooks are bad people that it really makes him completely out of character. He was getting so much character development and growth in the first season that by the season season, I felt that he was taking 2 steps back in terms of growing as a character by opening up to new possibilities, trying new things, trusting people that it was just so ungodly poorly executed and underdeveloped. Plus I felt that his talk with Sam by the pond after they found his mom was much stronger than the sleepover scene because it clearly shows that Guy DOES genuinely care about Sam and show genuine concern for Sam’s well-being because Guy is sharing with Sam that he’s just not so sure about Pam wanting to be a mother to Sam but he still tries to support Sam anyway even when Sam rebuffs and gets defensive with Guy. It was very touching and sweet but with the sleepover scene, Guy was getting all confrontational with Sam and criticizing Pam behind her back about not being a great mother that he tries to turn Sam against her and it was just unpleasant and harsh to sit through. I wished the writers wrote their relationship a lot better than what how ended up being. Sorry but both EB and Guy REALLY fucking pissed me off in the second season that I was in a fit of rage.
    Also, I too felt Guy and Michellee’s relationship was way too rushed and under developed. I wished Michellee did confront Guy about what he did to EB by arresting Looka and not listening to EB more often and called him out for his attitude towards the Yooks and his actions by ACTUALLY gave him parenting advice that he needed to make things right with EB. Plus I hated how Michellee was so water-downed and didn’t get very much screen time in the second season to fully develop her character and make her have an important role as the voice of reason who isn’t afraid to call EB or Guy out on their bullshit but yet still tries to be more supportive, understanding, kinder and empathetic to their needs too. I wished that she DID go along with Guy, Sam and EB to the trip to East Flurbia instead of staying behind. Plus that plot point of her becoming pregnant just felt way too sporadic and completely unnecessary that I wished the writers cut that aspect as well as other unnecessary aspects out from the second season and also just kept the 13 episodes as opposed to the 10 episodes they ended up with. I also wished they made the climax just dark enough to get the point across that war is terrible, that it will very well easily kill sooo many people, will lead to severe consequences on the citizens involved in it and that NOBODY should ever have to go through that but yet still on a hopeful note like have the yooks and the zooks realized the error or their ways and come together to rebuilt their towns as Ookia as a whole nation and even get the Dookess and the Dooka their comeuppance by having their people turn on them and dethroning them and being heavily criticized and called for their irresponsible, reckless and selfish acts and for nearly killing sooo many people as a result of their pity and stupid fight over which side to butter their toast. Now THAT would have been a much better ending than the one we ended up with. U know what I mean, right??

    another thing i didn't like about it was that it kind of took away from the found family aspect of season 1. by the end of s1, it was stated multiple times that although they weren't bound by blood or law, guy, sam, mr jenkins, michellee, and eb were one big family. and then suddenly s2 rolls around and guy and michellee are married and have a baby on the way and guy has no time or patience for sam because he's The Man Of The House and has to provide for his family with his inventions that he KNOWS always blow up. it just seriously rubbed me the wrong way.

    Also I agree they use Gluntz poorly here

    Nice. Also, another Difference is that Sheryl Also Tries to Physically Harm Gary. While Calling Him a Mistake, trying to Kill Him, Constantly Blamed Him for His Father's Demise, Nearly Killed his Lover Quinn JUST BECAUSE SHE COULDN'T HAVE THE LIFE WITH HIS FATHER LIKE HER SON HAS WITH QUINN. And Really, Even When her son Gary Actually Decided to Spare Her, she Actually PUT A GLOCK ON HIS HEAD. And Really, since then, she Really Hasn't Done ANYTHING To Help Gary like when one of their friends got killed because of what the villain Made him do. Like, Really. Also More F***ed Up how she Actually Tried to Kill The Entire Universe for His Father who had No Idea she was a Spy or Evil in the First Place.

    I absolutely despised the first episode of this season. Mainly because of how insufferable Sam was, I swear he wouldn’t shut up. They should’ve left it as Sam’s character staying the same as he was in the first season and have him go on his own trying to find his mom instead of dragging Guy and E.B. with him. It would’ve been better to just have the second season completely about him and have him less insufferable.

    • @XDDCCOUUTT
      @XDDCCOUUTT 2 года назад +2

      I also despise how EB and Looka are dating, they seem pretty young to be in a relationship but of course they’re boy and girl so they must be DESTINED to be together to a bunch of old hags. There were parts of the season that felt heartwarming like the island where Sam and Pam were aging backwards, but that was basically it. Every character in this season ranges from just existing to just plain awful. The mouse from season 1 was more engaging, and that was a literal joke.

    • @disneyfan9134
      @disneyfan9134 Год назад +3

      @@XDDCCOUUTT I have to fully agree with that. EB and Looka were definitely way too young to be in a relationship. That plot element felt very cliche but despite my personal feelings on that, I personally felt like their relationship was the healthiest that I’ve ever seen throughout the entire series. Also I hated how Guy flat out criticized Pam on her mothering behind her back to Sam. I understand that he was very concerned for Sam’s safety and well being and there’s nothing wrong with that but it seems to me that through all the lessons that he learned about opening up himself and to new opportunities and trying new things and all, it just felt like he was going one or two steps back in terms of his character development. By the end of the second season, I NEVER got any indication at all that he EVER apologized to everyone for all his mistakes and how he treated Pam, Sam and EB and his relationship with Michellee though more trusting, he STILL lies to her just so he wouldn’t get in trouble with her when it came to EB and I felt that their relationship was way too rushed and not fully developed at all because they were separated for a good chunk of the second season. Plus the additional subplot of Michellee having a baby felt way too sporadic and felt completely unnecessary to include in the story. Also Guy and Sam’s relationship isn’t as strong because Guy is so distrustful and critical of Pam that he becomes so convinced that she’s a bad mom but as an audience, we KNOW that’s completely not the case. Guy NEVER takes to time to even listen or understand both Sam and EB whom he has become more estranged with and flat out completely resents him after getting her boyfriend arrested and even after Looka is free, they NEVER take a quiet moment to fully apologize to each other and to fully reconcile their relationship by the end of the second season. Also the climax felt way too anti climatic and very weak to me. I understand that they writers didn’t want to make the ending much more darker and grittier but they could have made the ending just dark enough to fully get the point across that war is bad and that it has terrible terrible consequences to both nations no matter what they believed in or what side you’re on but also add a scene afterwards of the yooks and the zooks finally seeing the error of the ways and turning on their leaders to give them their full comeuppance and finally coming together to rebuild their country and name it Ookia instead. Like they did in Encanto where the villagers come to help the Magriguels (sorry for my incorrect spelling on their last name). That would have made the second season a little better in my opinion.

    Let’s just come to the conclusion: Based off of everyone’s issues with this season and my issues too this season has to be the WORST sequel you could imagine like let’s be honest Everyone from the first season is downgraded or just ignored and the ending where the two sides get together makes no sense if really think about it.
