Hey! My name is Casey. I’m an avid off-road enthusiast and owner of Snowbound Customs! Subscribe to the channel for content that revolves around my personal long traveled 3rd Gen 4Runner. Visit my website below for links to many of the products I use on this build. Some products are items I fabricate my self and others are fabricated by a variety of vendors across the nation!
USB Power Mod (Ash Tray Replacement) - 3rd Gen 4Runner
3rd Generation 4Runner rear USB power mod! This powder coated bezel replaces the rear ash tray on the center console and allows you to mount a power source that has both USB-C and USB-A outlets. Both of these outlets have fast charging and will charge your phones at the maximum speed that they allow. This works for 96-02 4Runners.
For this mod, you will need the following items. Note that many of these items can be purchased at automotive or hardware stores in smaller quantities for cheaper than these Amazon links but you do get the benefit of getting them in much larger quantities on Amazon to use for future projects.

How’s the maintenance on these rigs? Deciding make one a daily driver but not sure if it’s worth it
What is your mpg?
I know off topic but how long did your front bumper from addicted off road take ?
Soild pinions spacers and oil bruh people dont put them in and wonder why there shit breaks!
Im going sas instead
It’s crazy that I saw this in my 4Runner Facebook group yesterday and now it popped up on my RUclips feed!
@@PennyGing algorithms working their magic as usual!
@@SnowboundCustoms absolutely. Fantastic video as well. We need more quality videos like this in the 3rd gen world
Awesome USB PM kit!! Always a fan and returning customer of your products (hand held Diode light). I want to make this kit work for my 4th gen. Most likely I can. Keep it up...hopefully some products dedicated for the 4th gen.
@@deathdealerzulu hmmm I’m not sure if that would work! You can still use the power supply without my kit if you’re mounting it to a flat surface. You’ll just have to deal with using those self tapping screws to install it (I hate those!)
This is sick!
Any reason why you didn't decide to make it flush mount?
@@GenericUsaCitizen yes! There are some other designs of power sources such as the flush mount round ones with a long tube shape coming out the back, but those cause clearance issues on the inside. The end of the tube and the wires come into contact with the cupholder and also the storage area within the console so it can’t protrude too far in. Even if it does fit, the wires get all kinked trying to make a 90° bend. This rectangular shaped power source mounts on top and eliminates those issues
Just past 330,000 miles on my 2002 taco with 33s. Just got dusted by a 2009 4.6 f-150 😅. She needs some power pretty badly.
In the UK you can register your Toyota with the company to receive high milage certification from them 😂 I had a '97 Hilux with 127k miles on it, they said I should contact them at 250k as that's their first bench mark, there's thousands that hit that high mileage, they're built proper. 💪🏻
Toyotas are the most reliable on the road, jeeps more so off-road but won’t compare to Toyotas on the road.
The same thing can be said about the gm gmt800 platform. I love mine
I would vote a solid "YES" on this..
My dad used to have an old toyota hilux surf btw it's a right hand drive, but my dad flipped it and he never fixed it.
Yeah keep sending your money to Japan where they have game shows involving incest Japan and Toyota suck bro you need to buy something related to American stop thinking these guys build decent vehicles they don't why do you think they use timing belts so much you think a good engine has a timing belt I don't think so I snapped a wheel stud on a Toyota twerking it to 100 ft lb Toyota build s*** bro
I've been seriously considering getting an older 4runner just for offroad/overland. We already have a built vehicle that is my Wife's and we are wanting to do a his and hers setup. Not exactly what year I'm looking for, but preferably something with less than 200k miles on it. I saw a few for around $5k to $7k early 2000's with that kind of mileage. Just want to add some basics. Skid plates, winch, rock sliders, maybe 2" lift, and 33" to 35" tires..and a new front bumper for approach angle. Then just some lights or electronics for hardwired GMRS radio. I've got the cash to do it, just not sure which 4runner to pick. I haven't looked up which models have 7 seats...still want the 7 seats JUST in case my whole family of 6 wants to go. Otherwise I'd be looking at a tacoma pickup..
Awesome mod, very interesting
Still stronger than a cybertruck
We love Toyota
😂😂😂 nice try. Toyota is far more superior in every way
It's not about the brand or car, it's about the driver.
lol i have a suzuki mehran it has 700k miles on it still running good but abused the hell out
Fords arent any better i can tell you that much
We don't have a ton of Ford parts over here so I'm sticking with my Toyota parts
Doing your bit for the environment? Good for you.
4runner from 1999 still running 525,000
Delusional
I took a toyota hilux 3.0 kzte yo 800k km. Easy
…..why are these dudes absolute pinning the throttle on a stand-still? That’s gonna lunch your shit the second you get traction, doesn’t matter what you’re running.
Потому что не умеешь ездить
Ive never broke a diff at any point. If you're breaking a diff then you have ZERO idea how to drive
Now just clean up and paint the exhaust 😎👍
I had a 93 suburban that ran for 700000. Older vehicles were much better built.
Yeah expect few engine and transmission Toyota and GM group reliable
My BMW x1 from 2010 with 400 000 miles still works like a charm, no engine problem yet
1990ish-2006ish are the best years for Toyotas. Basically any timing belt Toyota Lexus engines are their best besides the 3vz
skill issue
My first generation Tundra (2001) Has 300,000+ miles on it,original engine and transmission, both running smoothly, oil change every 3000 miles, the only issue has been a rusty frame but nothing that some welding and a industrial oil base paint won't fix...
Do you still make these?
Dayum bro looks clean.my bro has a Hilux surf he,s rebuilding its engine now
Now you gonna have a breakdown just buying groceries! lmao
My 2003 gs300 has 380k, and i drove it 5 hours home
Bro I want a 95 4Runner so bad but I’m not tryna pay for that shit 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
No thanks I've been a long time other car owner I bought a Toyota for the first and last time will never buy another one is riddled with defects not only it sounds minimum but it really is a big thing first time having a vehicle with no radio is a big problem along with other mechanical problems NO THANKS! I'LL KEEP DRIVING MY 34-YEAR-OLD CHRYSLER!
So like, a lot of early 2000s vehicles are pretty good. I got an 02 Silverado 370k miles- I bought it at 300k miles with factory spark plugs still under the hood and the window sticker in the glove box
If it works, good for, its still a Toyota, some people are so sensitive, PS i own a Toyota Prado3.4 and owned 3 Toyotas prior to that.
Or just buy custom... 9 rears will need refitted too.
Your statement is confusing me. There is only one way to do this and that’s to use a 9” axle housing. I have a bare fabricated 9” housing to go with the diff. Did you think I was trying to put a ford 9 into the Toyota 8” housing? Because that’s not possible at all. I’m genuinely confused by your statement haha
@@SnowboundCustoms I figured the statement was generally obvious.. apparently not.. Yes a 9 rear in general. Scrap the other it will not work. Or sell it to someone who isn't using it for a non general use. I meant by the time you build a Ford 9 you may as well have bought a custom. Otherwise assuming i'm stupid (I am) and you are going to use a 20-30+ year old rear on an off-road vehicle. It likely will still fare better but I would purposely build a purpose built vehicle.
@@SnowboundCustoms So ultimately I'm confused why you are confused...
@@Lemonhead8890 this isn’t a 20-30 year old diff. It’s a brand new, fully built ford 9 with an ARB locker going in a brand new fabricated 9” housing with 35 spline chromoly axle shafts, and also the vehicle is getting a 3 link, coilovers and cantilever
@@SnowboundCustoms alrighty so the video is showcasing this or the stock?
