Excellent Vid ...ONLY one problem: Ride SPECIALIZED! 😜
Thanks for stopping by! I pretty much stay away from the larger brands: Specialized, Trek, etc. I'm sure they're great bikes, but they have been "corporatized". My Pivot comes from a company that's still privately owned and going after the best bike on the planet. I've been on Pivots since 2010.
@@tacomanetwork I concur
What is the size of this product? L*W,
140 for that?😂
They have seen some Bidenomics since I released this video. They were $100 when I got them
Is it possible to have the raptor lights be on with the daytime lights and the regular headlights?
Yes, possible, you just need to find the fuse that powers the DRL and tap into that one. I only wanted them on with the headlights
Where you buy them from?
I got mine from CaliRaised
Are you making an amber version
I haven't seen an amber version for CR.
Where did you get the color match rear bumpers
They came stock on my 22 TRD OR with the Technology package which included the parking sensors.
What is a reasonable distance between the bottom of the front mudflap and the ground? Im looking to replace the front set on my 2014 Tacoma. The ones I currently own have about a 3 inch clearance to ground, which seems too long. Thinking about getting something shorter.
Yeah, that's pretty low. I would say it depends on the tire you're running - but a good 6" from the ground.
@@tacomanetwork Appreciate the response. My tires are stock. I've only owned this truck for a few months and the long mud flaps on the front came with it. I always thought it looked a little odd. Thanks.
Love that grill.
Yeah, it's my favorite item on the truck. Besides my neighbor who stole the idea from me....I rarely see one, which is good in my book
What kind of Bed mat do you have on there?
It's the OEM bedmat from Toyota. I paid $95 at my local dealer and it was worth it. I've gotten a couple of other aftermarket ones and the quality sucked in comparison for about the same price.
Thank you, I will check this out. My current Tonneau cover just about flew off yesterday on the highway. I had to bungee the tie down clips through the back windows to hold it on. It never really fit properly and tended to shift around. This one looks like it will be stable.. I can't complain too much as I put it on when I bought the vehicle 9 years ago.
This one's pretty solid - just removed it this weekend to haul some larger items and it's so easy to get on and off by myself.
This is not a 2024 Tacoma
I made this video BEFORE the 2024 was fully revealed. The grill was loosely based on the new Tundra Pro grill in anticipation that the new Tacoma would also be similar. Obviously, this grill is for the 3rd gens...
$100 for 2 pieces of aluminum?! This is why no one buys “American made” things. People are way to proud of their 💩.
😂 Just a quick review for those considering. IMO, making a quality item from Aluminum, anodizing, laser etching, etc does cost money. The Chinese have given us poor quality, poor fitment, poor service, etc. Not with these
Please itemize how they justify the price? No way I’ll pay for this.
I just made a video about these...I didn't make them 😁. In the grand scheme of things, Made in USA costs more. Aluminum costs more. CNC machining costs more. Anodizing costs more. Marketing, websites, etc costs more. Not here to justify them, but giving my educated guess on the manufacturing process, which I do have 1st hand knowledge in
$150 to replace a tie down where there is already a tie down??
Feature wise, it replaced a frozen, rusting steel tie down. Looks wise, hands down better than stock. Price wise, yeah, they're expensive.
$365 for tie downs?!?😂😂😂 I dont think so.
$365 is for the full kit. But yes, even two are expensive.
$150 🤣
Yes, they are expensive, but what isn't these days? 😳
Love your content! Very informative. My Tacoma is a 2023 SR5. It doesn’t come with any stock turn signal lights. Do you happen to know if the sequential lights you advertised on this video would fit? Thanks.
Not sure on that one....I'm sure the wiring is there, but not sure if you're SR5 housing will fit these. You may want to take them apart first to inspect
My exact Taco. I love it!
Nice! Just got back from a 1,000 mile road trip this weekend. It was amazing!
Nicely done, will be checking out the others
Thanks!
I just stumbled across this jems... Like maybe 4 days ago... the Price! 165.00?
They're currently $139 for a pair. The price crept up the last year though - they used to be $109/119 from what I remember.
I purchased a BakFlip Max 4 years or so ago, and it has not held up well. The plastic housing that contain the release cables have crack; the post that hold the cover in UP position always loosen then fall into the pick up bed. From the start I’ve done all that I can to maintain and “baby” the BakFlip, but still it broke down way before it’s time. I am disappointed in the durability, or lack of, in this product.
Have you contacted BakFlip? They're pretty easy to deal with, especially with replacement parts. I've got to say, I've only used the posts maybe twice so far in a year. I knew going in that the plastic parts would be the issue, so I contacted BakFlip and wanted new plastic corners and the plastic release clip - wanting to just purchase them.....they just sent them for free. This was right after I installed it though
Just put this and the pop n lock on my 2022 Lunar Rock! Love it
Nice! It's probably my favorite item on my truck - I installed the Toyota version of the tailgate lock. Love it, lots of piece of mind and no more fiddling with the key to lock/unlock
Mine just showed up today. Can’t wait to get these on my new Tacoma.
Nice! Enjoy them. Honestly, just admired mine last night after I back into my driveway and the lights were still on!
Made of cheap plastic components that break in a few months. Not worth the money.
The only plastic on this entire cover are the 4 corner pieces that measure 1.5" x 2". I requested an additional set of those from the company and they sent them out, no questions asked. I've had this installed for nearly a year now and haven't had any issued with the cover - even the 4 plastic corners.
@@tacomanetwork not only the corners but also the clips that holds it when folded. It disintegrates on its own. After I discovered the Diamondback trifold, this product is not worth the money. The corner pieces are important cuz it holds the rubber lining for the entire length. Also, this one leaks more than other brands. They could improve it, but they rarely update the design.
@@vrva3138 I didn't like the Diamond back because of these reasons: 1. the design just looks dated 2. the cover sticks above the bed line. 3. additional weight. I was looking for the most streamlined bedcover, and the MX4 delivers. I could care less about it being watertight...I didn't even install the tubes included. FWIW, backflip just updated the design last month 😁. Enjoy your diamondback and your tacoma. I am enjoying mine.
The good thing about diamondback is that it accommodates common items like a fill rite fuel tank or a 20 gallon tank upright. (Standard size items will fit). Yes if it's for the looks, flip is great. Enjoy your Flip!
$140 a pair is brutal! 😂
agreed, but they look and work great!
Pretty dumb for some anodized aluminum 🤣
I got one for 2.5 gen, i find the reverse light not that functional?
Mine seem very bright, especially compared to stock
@@tacomanetwork hmmm. Hope I don't have a defective one. When I reverse at night, I can't see anything at all on the reverse cam
I spend a lot of money on stuff I don’t need, but $150 for two D-rings is even difficult for me to justify maybe if they gave me the same color bolts I would think about it, oh wait then they probably charge $200 nah just forget it 😂😂😂😂
Naw, probably $189 😂
I would paint the garnish black.
Yeah, I had it done with tinted PPF, so it blends very well and is scratch resistant now
Thanks for the video. Nice to see some stuff other than the standard console trays & glovebox organizers. I've had a Scosche magnetic mount set up identically to your Peak Design on my Tacoma for a few years now. I do like that Peak Design mount, in conjunction with their case though. Does it hold tight enough to not fall off during light off-roading? That was the issue I ran into before getting the Scosche setup. I tried a magsafe charging mount, but the phone would slip off of it just driving down a dirt road.
Yes, even off roading, it holds tough - even with my new iPhone 15 Pro Max. The key is their case - it's the strongest magnets I've seen and they improved them even more for the 15 series. My apple MagSafe wallet is hard to pry from it now!
@@tacomanetwork Thanks for the reply. I will most likely try this setup out when I upgrade to a new phone later this year.
You'll like it.
@@tacomanetwork Just upgraded to a 15 Pro Max last week and just got my Peak Designs wireless charging mount, along with their Nomad case for it. Everything works amazing!
@@bluecreekroad Nice! Same phone I have. My wife used my truck the other day and said "Why don't I have one of these mounts in my car??"
$150, I'd say the factory rings work just fine. Some of you have more dollars than sense.
Yeah, they're expensive and I did mention that. They're not for everyone 😁
How to order this sit
bit.ly/YotaVerseGrill
That's a other issue with the new build. Wish I could just set my cover down. Sometimes I have to slam it so it'll catch the rail. 🙄
Strange - are you sure it's aligned correctly toward the cab? Not crooked at all on the bed?
@@tacomanetwork it's not crooked. It's just a poor design because the rails stack on top of one another and it' uses the safety hazard (😂) clamps to clamp it altogether. So the rail the cover clamps onto isn't fully level because the way it clamps on top of the accessories rail, which is bolted to the utility rail. Send me your email and I'll send you photos if you want.
Video helped me install it. Only problem was the 90 degree weather in Florida making everything too hot to touch.
Yeah, it gets the same way here in SoCal! Always have to do a test touch before I lean on the bed!
Stellar Video! What path did you use to route the Rapter Light's harness to the fuse box? In your video I can't tell if you went under the radiator or beside it. When you replace the fuse box lid, does the red lead still allow it to close tightly - or how did you deal with this?
I routed it through the front end supports towards the battery side, then into the engine compartment by the battery. I spent way more time on routing wires than really mounting the grill as I wanted a semi factory look without wires dangling everywhere. As for the fuse lid, I was able to still close the lid just with a small "V" notch to allow the wire to pass through the seal. I'm in dry SoCal, so it shouldn't be an issue
@@tacomanetwork Gotcha - I'm a stickler for wires being neatly routed too. With regard to the fusebox - I'm in the midwest, so rain and snow are a concern. I might try to drill a small hole in the box and insert a rubber grommet. I could pass the lead through that. Or... I may lose patience and try the "V" notch because I can't wait to see the finished project!
You didn’t mentioned it so I guess is a no, if I wanted to completely move the cover out the way, how difficult would it be?
Like remove the cover completely? That's easy - 1. fold the cover all the way to the cab. 2. unscrew the two thumb nuts on the underside of the cover near the cab. Then, just lift up the cover - it's pretty lightweight being all aluminum.
@@tacomanetworkthanks!
Just a heads up. This is no longer applicable as I am finding out at this very moment. My new cover is a different installation. Now you don't even move the utility rail. You Mount the adaptor rail to the utility rail.
Yeah, I also just found out that BakFlip has changed this. Question: Is the rail still usable? If not, they literally just cheapened the cost of the cover by not including machined brackets to lower the rail. It's kind of a bummer that they're cutting costs and limiting usage of the bed
@@tacomanetwork nope. Your utility rail is no longer usable with the cleats, or really, anything. Now, you basically bolt the adaptor rail to the stock utility rail, then the rail for the cover stacks on top of the adaptor rail and uses machined clamps to clamp it all on top of each other. Stupid design. (Not to mention, I'm going to be pissed when I accidentally hit my hands on the machines clamps that stick out and it cuts skin! A buddy of mine has the first Gen, if you will, and I went over yesterday. The build on those are far far superior. Not just the way it mounts, the entire cover itself is built better.
@@tacomanetwork ruclips.net/user/shortsaGGlV3YyAA4
@@tacomanetwork ruclips.net/user/shortsaGGlV3YyAA4
Wow, it's completely different. They really screwed over the consumer/truck user with that cover now. The panel against the truck cab seems larger too - mine was much smaller allowing more bed access with fully open. But the big issue is using the bed rail to mount it rendering the rail now pretty much useless. This brackets are a big hazard too - I remember the lowering brackets being crazy sharp as they don't finish thier aluminum pieces at all. It's a shame, because the actually had a great product, but it looks like they tried to redesign it to save some money. BakFlip is owned by Real Truck now....so I'm sure it's all about the money. Sorry that you got this version....
Nice video - who makes the bike rack? It is a sharp combination. Heading over to Tonneau now...
It's made by 1up: 1up-usa.com/product/2-heavy-duty
what about all the wet panties that get thrown at my TRD Pro? What do you guys do with them? Is there a mod I need to know about? Frontier Owners get Kirkland Ballhuggers thrown at them I hear.
You probably have one of those SR5 Pros, huh? You know, with the Pro badge under the mirror and the Chinese Pro grill? jk😂
@@tacomanetwork only the real deal here!
I’m confused on how your distance to empty is 374 miles with full tank when mine barely gets to 270 ??? Can someone explain?
That image was when I drove it off the lot with 7 or 8 miles on the OD and a full tank of gas from the dealer. My typical now is 280 on stock tires/suspension
Great vid
Thanks buddy!
Yeah there are but Ii think they are teh bed mount bolts (The larger ones) and not the smaller ones that hold the D-rings in the back. There should be a good mod for that.
I wouldn't mess with the large bed bolts. They hold the whole thing together
@@tacomanetwork word.
I guess you can also add these tot he front two bed bolts? I can't believe Toyota did not put D-rings up front as well. So many times I cant tie something down from the front. The sliding top side bed rail loops are pretty useless being up at the top.
Are there even bolts up front? They would need the same spacing, and the same washer stack to make these work.
These mudflaps look rigid and probably will stand the test of time but it would be nice if they were contoured like the OEM ones. Thanks for showing the install Rich.
Yeah, I like the look of the stock versions best.....but they easily get in the way and get broken easily.
Nice switchblade! also RIP the tustin hanger!
Thanks! Love that bike - just got some We Are One carbon rims, testing them out this weekend! Yeah, I work right near the hangars....and it's really sad what Tustin let happen
I ordered this last month and the hardware that came in is different from this video. After my install, i was not able to utilize my bed rail anymore. Very disappointing. I wanted to return but i did not want to pay the shipping and restocking fee. I hope no one gets the same product i received.
I heard that Backflip might have slightly changed the way it mounts toward the cab - someone posted a photo in a FB group. I didn't know about the bed rails though...did they do away with the slide rail dropping brackets?
I like the fitment and ease of install on the MX4. This made my decision easier on which one I wanted to buy. I am going to pick up one for my Sport which has a 6ft bed, Thanks Rich...
Nice! Glad to help - I heard that BakFlip might have slightly changed the cover towards the cab now for the 3rd gen models.
Wishing they both hung a little lower (about 2 inches lower), and also were way more flexible. I guess I ask too much. All of them, especially the stock flaps, are too damned stiff.
Yeah, I can't agree more - especially the flexibility portion. The stocks are really bad.
@@tacomanetwork yeah, off-roaders simply remove them because of how they break and how stress that happens can break its mount too. That's not a perfect solution. A longer, more flexible mud flap makes a lot more sense to me.
Do u have one of these for the new v2 Tacoma grill or alpha grill?
I'm not sure what you mean - I have the V2 Pro grill from YotaVerse
We get killed in Canada with the exchange rate. These would run me about 260. For the set of two. So, it’s a big forget about it. I’ll remove the standard rings and just paint them orange to be close to my solar octane Toyota
Yeah, I can imagine. Good deal.
