I got my BakFlip here: bit.ly/BakFlipTC. Best pricing by about $100 from every other site! 👉👉 6/2024 - QUICK DISCLAIMER: BakFlip is now selling a revised version of this cover, where the rail lowering brackets are now deleted and the bed cover bracket mounts directly to the Toyota Bed Rail making the bed rail basically useless. There's also changes in the smallest panel near the truck cab, as it's now wider making the truck bed access slightly smaller. My installation instruction will now vary depending on which version you received. I'm not sure why BF made this change, but it clearly didn't take the consumer into consideration. 😔
I’m watching this video while deciding what cover is going to be right for me. The ease of this installation amazes me. Initially assumed it was going to be more difficult
Hey! Glad to help with the decision and the install video - that's exactly why I made the video. All other videos I found including the manufacturers were unclear OR were about a slightly different product.
Thank you for this video. It helped me so much during the installation of my cover. The instructions that came with it were confusing and lacked a lot to be desired. The only thing I will add is that be sure to install the strap hold down clips before putting the cover on the bed of the truck. It is much easier that way. Thanks again! Much appreciated!
Nice! It's probably my favorite item on my truck - I installed the Toyota version of the tailgate lock. Love it, lots of piece of mind and no more fiddling with the key to lock/unlock
Thank you, I will check this out. My current Tonneau cover just about flew off yesterday on the highway. I had to bungee the tie down clips through the back windows to hold it on. It never really fit properly and tended to shift around. This one looks like it will be stable.. I can't complain too much as I put it on when I bought the vehicle 9 years ago.
Just used your video to install my MX4. Very nice step by step process. Just an added note, make sure when installing the rails that they are straight instead of the rails sagging inward. Install the fasteners that secure the folded panels when 2/3rds folded before putting on the tonneau. Those were a pain to put on with the tonneau on the truck.
I like the fitment and ease of install on the MX4. This made my decision easier on which one I wanted to buy. I am going to pick up one for my Sport which has a 6ft bed, Thanks Rich...
i ordered one for my 2022 Tacoma. its boot that easy when the parts i have differ from the video..I:m calling it in Monday to make sure they sent me the right one..very frustrating when i spent so much time attempting to apply a wrong cover .
Thanks buddy! Glad to help out - it's why I made the video......all other videos were terrible and hard to follow (plus the instructions were really bad)
So, I just went from a 200 dollar tyger auto cover, to a rough country 700 dollar to now returning that to get the bakflip. I've learned my lesson. Stop being cheap with certain things
I agree. For the cover, I wanted something that would last, stay looking good and not be a burden to open/remove if needed. The MX4 did all of that. The price is still high, but I'm not unhappy with the functionality...and after a year of usage, it still looks brand new (although the MX4 badge at the back just fell off while washing my truck...but that's okay)
Thanks Ryan! I never installed the tubes...and after a few rains and a few car washes, I probably won't. Very little water gets in my bed, so nothing to warrant drilling into my bed further. One precaution is that on the driver side, the existing hole is really close to the gas tank/hoses, so be careful

The metal brackets which lower the factory rail are sold separately or are they standard with any mx4 (for example bought off Amazon) I ask because buying in Mexico might mean getting it only from Amazon
Will this work with a 2021 tacoma trail edition with the bed storage boxes? I keep watching this vid and staring at my bed and its hard for me to say it would w/o modifying and trimming down those rail hangers provided in the kit.
On BakFlip's site, it specifically says it won't work with the factory bed storage boxes. The MX4 uses brackets to lower the slider rail. You'll likely be able to just lose the rail and modify the brackets OR lose the boxes to make it happen. I'm sure it's possible.
@@tacomanetwork thanks for the reply. Since the kit has extra brackets i might try and modify them to clear the top of the boxes. Its a 5ft bed. Having the extra brackets would help with support but its not like im putting weight on top of the cover. Looks like opening the lids clears the underneath the cover but who knows until i try. Big thanks again!

No drilling required - I opted not to install the tubes and my bed has been pretty water tight to date. A few drips get inside when I wash, but that's it
On my 3rd Gen, there are already three small drain holes in the bed at the front of the cab. All you need to do is take a step drill bit and barely go in the hole to widen it.
