If you major in education do you still need your TEFL? I’m triple double majoring and having a minor. With the combination being Korean, Education, and Psychology. Depending on the college and programs is which I’m majoring in and the exact name of the major.

Hi Courtney! Would it be possible to ask you to do a video on budgeting the monthly salary of an EPIK teacher? How much is expected to be spent on certain things. It might be invasive to ask but it would be amazing to have an idea of how much one could potentially save up after necessity, utility and other expenses.

I got my Seoul placement! 🎉 I still have a couple questions: 1. Could I still potentially teach at more than 1 school? 2. If I teach at multiple schools, would it be a mix of high school/primary school, or for example if like my main school is a middle school I can only teach at other middle schools?

I’ve heard this before that at orientation it’s communal showers Is that like typical showers you see in American programs like schools and prisons where it’s one room with lots of shower heads or are there like separate stalls for privacy? In the UK communal showers means you still have privacy in stalls and you’re only seen naked if you don’t mind or want people to see you naked.

Hi, Courney. I appreciate the advice. I'm curious if we just make our own slidshows on our own thumbdrives and can take them home and work on them? Do they perfer powerpoint or canva or is it just up to us? I want to start getting the presentations ready now for all age types so I'm already ready to go wherever they send me.

You do not pay the recruiter. The school pays the recruiter. If they make you pay it is probably a scam.

I have a question, slightly off-topic from the application process. For the slideshows shown in class, is it our choice whether we use Microsoft PowerPoint or canvas? Also does the school provide a flash drive to store those presentations or do we provide that ourselves? I want to start working on them now because I know what workbooks they have. Mostly I'm curious about the actual software we have to use which very few youtubers discuss. If I spend all summer brushing up on PowerPoint and that's not what they use at all I'm gonna be a sad panda. Thank you.

You should never have to pay for a recruiter - for EPIK (or hagwon). The recruiters are paid by the schools/programs that you are placed in.

I plan on applying in fall 2024 for 2025 Spring intake, this is super helpful and makes me feel a little less nervous about the whole process

I specifically wondered how you were able to answer the co-teacher questions in the interview? The "what would you do if...?"

If you applied while in the UK as a US citizen then did you not have to apostle your birth certificate? And also did you apply for your visa via the new KVAC in London? If so, how was that experience and how long did that take? And last question is your visa single or multi entry as online they only seem to do single now. You were very lucky if you only spent 45 dollars on your visa as it’s about €240 now. I’m unlucky as I have a South African birth certificate and UK citizenship but no papers for the UK as I didn’t need to get them when I moved but I need for them for the visa. Hopefully EPIK will be helpful and considerate in my case.
