Good morning, thanks for your reply. Your completely right, the wires on the front should be as far as possible in a kind of bow as original. I have found some pictures of the JMlab speakers I got then: refoam.info/jmlab-1.jpg and refoam.info/jmlab-2.jpg. I don't know if I later just pulled the wire gently some more in a bow. Good morning, sorry for the late reply. Most times when a speaker is some tight at the baffle I use a screwdriver, but not as maybe suspected between the cabinet and the frame of the speaker. Then the change of damaging the cabinet is great. I use the screwdrivers, most times a small and certain strong one, in a mounting hole of the speaker unit. Then you must be carefully(!) to not slide away against the cone and frame. So I put the end of the screwdriver between my thumb and other fingers, and a kind of lift one side of the speaker. I always take care that the screwdriver is in the mounting hole good under the frame. It might be necessary to push the screwdriver some under the frame in the wood. After replacing you won't see the small spot anymore, and the frame is still well tight on the baffle. All at own risk. Best regards, Fred

Good morning, Thanks for your reply and information. Actually why we didn’t choose grey again for the surround, is that the black rubber of our surrounds has proven to be very reliable. We choose for proven quality of the material instead of in this case the grey coloured material, where we don’t have long experience with. Also, I look to the future, the (original) grey surrounds got already after some years more inflexible as when you bought the speakers at a shop. So, the parameter will change already after some years. With the rubber black surrounds you won’t have this problem. Best regards, Fred

Actually I'm afraid it's best just to keep the foam out of the sun, warmth etc. I know for instance the Focal tweeters in some expensive speakers have a kind of coating on the foam. If I look at a whole other speaker, the 15 inch Tannoy HPD385 woofer it has a coating too, even at midranges etc. About coating of the foam surrounds I doubt very much that this is to keep the foam okay. It's often to make the speaker the last way to perfect measurements in the mearure room. I myself have years ago refoamed a 12 inch Tannoy HPD315 with coating on the roll. I quess it has some function, but the foam surround was total bad anyway. Sorry, with this one I can't really help you. Best regards, Fred.

Good morning, thanks for your reply. I have looked on the internet for this Focal Chorus 707s speaker. If I look at some larger pictures of the tweeter, it seems to be that als well the inverted dome, as well the outer rim is out of one metal piece. Is maybe the dome or rim damaged, for instance bij a cat or else? Actually I haven't seen a repair kit somewhere. I think it's an idea to contact the manufacturer. Sorry that I can't help you. Good morning, Thanks for your message. The white high density paper rim on the frame has not to be removed. It’s the rim between the mounting of the outer edge of the rubber surround on the frame. Next could be: why? There are different options. I think at least it's part of the design of this Bowers & Wilkens speaker. It may have been used to dampen the resulting resonances of the cone at the outer edge. If it is expected that there will be a relatively large production of certain speakers, manufactures still want to fine-tune them, especially if this can be done in a relatively simple way. Good morning, in my opinion it's for humans not hear able if the white thin paper ring in this case is removed or not. The ring is very thin, not as thick as for instance an 11 inch woofer from Acoustic Research. Further, if you might use it, our SP6 glue is very strong, also on for instance metal. We have tested the glue on different surfaces: www.repairyourspeakers.com/en/glue-brush-fluid/c-3. Also if you use other strong glue to mount the surround, I'm quite sure it has no hear able effect. The rubber surrounds are well designed and will give you the sound you want. Best regards, Fred

Good afternoon, good question. After all, people usually think that it is always not to cause false air, an air leak so to speak. That is possible with woofers, and in particular with woofers in closed cabinets. Some manufacturers also glue a woofer, I don't find that useful, after all, you can no longer reach the exchange filter. Anyway, now why a foam gasket is almost always used, both with woofers, midrange, tweeters, etc. With the Bose 901 (indeed, something completely different again) the sealing ring of the last loose speakers was already glued to the speaker frame as standard. Now why the Penta's 3 inch midrange speakers need a sealing ring. Especially with very powerful midrange speakers, vibrations can occur between the frame of the midrange and the front. It is therefore useful to tighten the speakers crosswise as much as possible. Testing with, for example, a program for test signals on the mobile phone is quite sensible. With the sealing ring it is not possible that there are still audible vibrations between the frame of the midrange and the front. Good morning, Indeed, your right. It was one of the first videos we made (see: ruclips.net/channel/UCM6jfAdxStMNYpGVZWrDizQvideos ), and we tried to make the video international without language. That was not such a good idea, there should have been a English voice-over. After years it's not possible to change it, even a fitting background music seems to be not possible for this video. Profit is that you can listen to you own music. Further, then, we thought (at least I did) that a voice-over at much places can't be heard, like everywhere in public, where you do have time to watch the video, but sounds is not real handy.
