  • Repair your Bang & Olufsen Beolab 6000 or B & O Beolab 3500 in an easy way with perfect result! Strong liquids as sticker-remover can damage the cone. Comments are welcome! P.S. We use now methylated spirit to undo the cone from glue remains. (Surrounds etc. at www.repairyourspeakers.com/en...) P.S: Cotton swabs (www.refoam.info/swab.jpg) for make-up can be easy to work with. Alcohol / IPA is even a good liquid to remove the foam.

    Netjes gewerkt, hier moet je wel een beetje gevoel voor hebben, mensen zonder ervaring kunnen dit echt niet zo netjes.

    Great! But wouldn't it be easier to apply glue to the frame ?

  • @PranishBhaskaran
    @PranishBhaskaran 3 года назад +1

    You could have used a tweezer to hold the rubber to paste glue to make it easier.

    To remove the overdone glue on the cone etc. you can use also a piece of soft cloth with a little water. Use of an utility knife as Stanley is at own risk.

    Waarom niet een injectienaald gebruikt om lijm aan te brengen?

    • @audiofriends254
      @audiofriends254  3 года назад

      Goedemorgen,
      Bedankt voor uw bericht. Ik zie inderdaad wel dat, zeker bij randen welke achter de conus geplaatst worden, er een soort van injectiespuit wordt gebruikt, wel vaker op RUclips gezien. Dit tussen de achterzijde van de conus en de bovenzijde van de binnenste bevestigingslip van de rand. Zelf vind ik dan het probleem dat je niet goed kan zien of je dan de juiste dosis lijm gebruikt voor montage, en of de gehele binnenste lip wel voorzien is van lijm.

      Als er te veel lijm wordt gebruikt kan de droogtijd ‘eeuwig’ zijn. Het gaat ook om een rubber rand, welke geen lucht doorlaat. Als er een deel van de binnenste lip niet goed gelijmd is, kan zeker op een toongenerator dit naar voren komen. Als je dan een sweap geeft van bijvoorbeeld 20 - 500 Hz (daar zit meestal het eventuele heuvel in) hoor je ineens door de gebruikte frequentie heen een vaak hoger frequentie van iets dat los zit en trilt op een hogere frequentie. Verder is vind ik, zeker bij lichte woofers, extra massa van te veel gebruikte lijm ook niet handig. Het rendement kan naar beneden gaan.
      Ik hoop dat de vraag voldoende beantwoord heb.
      Met vriendelijke groet, Fred

    where do we get the rubber rings

    • @audiofriends254

      Good morning,
      Thanks for your question. Normally these surrounds (or as kit for instance) can be bought on www.audiofriends.com (PayPal credit card, etc.). At this moment, due to the corona crisis, we have the 3,5"LAB not on stock. We expect them to be here in about 2 - 3 weeks. Note that shipment outside Europe at this moment is really a problem. See also: www.refoam.info/delay.jpg.
      Best regards, Fred

    • @audiofriends254
      @audiofriends254  4 года назад

      Good morning, thanks for your reply. The surrounds can be bought worldwide on www.ebay.com. We only ship the glue to Europe and the USA, because we had a lot of problems elsewhere with the customs. They want to know exactly what is in the bottle of glue (and I can't blame them). This investigation will take - depending of the country - about 2-3 months. Far to long for the package to arrive. We see that on RUclips often Aleene’s Tacky Glue is used. It’s a kind of PVA glue that stays flexible and dries up colourless. Use is at own risk. Best regards, Fred

      Great instruction! I have just refoamed my first pair of speakers, in the BeoLab 6000.
      One thing I handled differently is the start of the gluing. I used two thin plastic straws to push under the cones (one on each side), through the speaker frame from left to right. This way the conus is pushed upwards in a centred way. I then put the rubber foam on my working table and applied the glue on the inner ring. Having the rubber foam on the work table makes it much easier to apply the glue in a smooth and neat way. I then put the rubber foam with the glue applied underneath the conus, like you put a tire on a rim. As the conus is sticking upwards, there is plenty of room to do this accurately.
      Thanks Fred & Audiofriends, what a great way to revive vintage speakers!

      @@KolfMAKER Good morning,
      Thank you for your positive reply and additional helpful information. I myself have occasionally raised a cone slightly by gently adding soft toilet paper to make it easier to repair.
