TELESIN Camera Suction Mount | Does it suck?
Просмотров 19314 дней назад
I’ve always wanted to try mounting a camera to a car to shoot through the windshield while driving, but never got a suction mount, because they’ve always been rather expensive or designed to only hold a GoPro. But a while ago @TELESIN reached out to me and sent me this one. For only $70 dollars you get a three armed suction mount that can hold more than just an action camera. But can you trust ...

      Battery life is very, very good. However, I can’t perform a test that represents the actual performance as my npf batteries don’t have their full capacity anymore. But on 2 npf 750s it lasts over half a day at least

    Great video. Lots of info and details. I appreciate it. I don’t know any better as I’m just getting familiar with timecode. But does it even make sense to use timecode of your just filming with 1 camera? I thought it was mainly used for when you have a multi camera setup.

    Friend, tell me what about the color of people's skin in GH6 VS GH7? And in which mode is the skin color the most beautiful, not counting of course prores raw? And in what modes do you usually shoot, is it worth switching to prores 4.2.2 or staying on LONGOP?

    • @RedFrameTech
      @RedFrameTech 5 дней назад

      After using the GH7 for a while I’ve noticed that the GH6 produces nicer colours. Particularly skin tones. I’m working on a LUT that will match the GH7 to the GH6 (in V-log). I almost always shoot V-log in Long-gop 422 or All-I 422. I hardly ever shoot Prores as it doesn’t really affect quality.

    I prefer the BM monitor, the user interface is just better in my opinion. Having the tap to punch in is really nice. Yes the power draw can be high on the BM but it's only when you are cranking up the brightness. Normally you'll have the brightness at 25% and it lasts a long time like that. Also having double HDMI and SDI is really nice. The ability to record straight to SD cards is also really nice, good for getting proxies.

      @@RedFrameTech The software is full of bugs. Found out that the first time you run the Android app it asks for location permission, if you give that permission it will always crash, and you will have to remove it and reinstall. If you give estimated permisson or no location permission it "works". Although... if you try to open an existing text file nothing happens. So the only thing you can do is type it in or paste it from another app. Some messages appear at the bottom of the screen.. in Chinese (I guess). Nowhere can you change the language... or the location of the files you want to use. Very disapointing.

    Good to see an update from you-thanks for the video! I was hoping you could provide some advice on lens selection. With the GH7, I’m trying to decide between the Leica 10-25mm, the 25-50mm, or the Sigma 18-35mm paired with a Metabones Speed Booster (a combo that was super popular about 7 years ago). I’m looking for good bokeh and background separation for artsy focus pulls but also rely on autofocus. Do you have any other recommendations-perhaps a cine lens? Thanks!

    • @RedFrameTech
      @RedFrameTech 13 дней назад

      I'm assuming you're looking for zoom lenses. The Leica 10-25 and the 25-50 are excellent lenses. Nice bokeh and background separation due to the f1.7 aperture. I have no experience with the 18-35 with a speedbooster, but I'd say it's an option if you don't want to make full use of the GH7's autofocus capabilities as I've heard that combo doesn't seem to perform optimally. I also own the DZO 10-24 and 20-70 T2.9 cine zooms. The bokeh is softer and creamier than from the Leicas, but background separation is more challenging due to the T2.9 aperture. Generally speaking, cine lenses tend to have a softer bokeh. However, only recently companies are coming out with cine lenses that support autofocus. The majority of cine lenses is manual only. Hope that helps and thanks so much for watching!

    Wow!! I didn't know that I could connect the ZoomH5 to the GH6...very interesting, thx for this!....one question: what would be the best set up to use the wireless mic and a rode videomic NTG at the same time on the GH6 & G9 ii? should I use a 3.5 mm TRS to Dual 3.5 mm cable? ...or connect the wireless receiver to the audio input on the camera and look for another cable for the rode videomic NTG?? then what would be the audio setting in camera? thx for your input

    • @RedFrameTech
      @RedFrameTech 17 дней назад

      Glad my video was helpful! Connecting two mics is tricky. You can do it the way you describe with a splitter cable, but then you can’t adjust the gain separately for both mics. I think the easiest way to go would be to use two wireless transmitters of which one has the ntg connected to it. This way you can control the gain individually on the receiver before it goes into the camera. The camera needs to be set to line level (and the wireless receiver to line-out). Hope that helps!

      LOL Just asked chatgpt about that and here is the response: Unfortunately, you cannot directly connect the Rode VideoMic NTG's USB-C port to the USB-A input on the Lumix GH6 or Lumix G9 II to record audio. Here’s why: The USB-C port on the Rode VideoMic NTG is primarily designed for digital audio output to computers, smartphones, or devices that support USB digital audio input. You asked if we have any requests for specific tests... so I have a request for a test 😂 👉 Can you please test a very bright fast moving object with and without DR Boost (try this at various exposure levels including overexposed and underexposed situations). ❗Context: I have a theory that GH6 is taking two sensor readings at different speeds and combining them into a single output, that's why the exposure level in your video was higher with DR Boost on, at 9:14 The first reading will be at the normal shutter speed for example 1/60 whereas the second readout might be at a shutter speed of 1/6,000. This also explains why the DR Boost function seems to only expand the dynamic range in highlights and not at all in shadows. So if my theory is correct and the camera makes two readings then filming a very fast moving very bright object with DR Boost on would result in a ghosting effect since the position of the object would have changed between the first and second sensor reading. An example of such a fast moving object could be sparks from an industrial saw or anything else which is glowing and moving at a very fast pace. Also, I believe this is why Panasonic decided to leave an option in the menu for switching DR Boost off. Because if this option did not exist and someone experienced a ghosting effect with an automatic DR Boost feature then videographers would not be able to switch it off. So they would not even be able to re-shoot the video to correct the ruined footage. Please let me know your thoughts or if you do such a test and document it for everyone, that would be amazing 🙏

    • @RedFrameTech
      @RedFrameTech 19 дней назад

      Interesting theory! However, from what I understand now is that DR Boost is indeed combining two sensor readings, though not at different shutter speeds but at two gain (ISO) levels. You got me curious though, so I’ll see what I can do. Thanks for watching!

    • @RadCameraMan
      @RadCameraMan 19 дней назад

      @@RedFrameTech looking forward to your tests, to see whether the two ISO levels readings happen at the same time or in succession in which case ghosting effect is still a possibility.🤔

    Hi Sebastian, very interesting review. Which monitor do you recommend in connection with my G9 ii? Thanks, Mathias

    • @RedFrameTech
      @RedFrameTech 22 дня назад

      Hi Matias. It’s hard to recommend one particular monitor, because it depends on what you want or expect to get out of it. It’s mostly personal preference and also budget. However, I can highly recommend the Neewer F700 if you’re looking for a 7” inch one. The Shimbol Memory 1 is a good 5” monitor and if you’d also like to record externally (including RAW) there’s either one of the Atomos recorders (like the Ninja, Ninja V) or the Black Magic Video Assist 12G (5” or 7”). I personally own the Ninja V and the BM Video Assist 5” and love them both. I’ve got videos on all of the aforementioned monitors on my channel. In the end, any camera monitor will work with your G9II, so try to determine what features you need before purchasing. Thanks so much for watching!

    Super interesting looking monitor. Thinking about going 7 inch because the 5 inch monitors can still feel just a bit small to tell if I'm hitting critical focus on manual lenses at shallow depth of field. What anamorphic desqueeze options does it have? That's the one thing I can't seem to find any info about online. Specifically hoping it has a 1.5x desqueeze. Wouldn't necessarily be a deal breaker since I shoot mostly spherical, but do have fun with my Blazar Remus anamorphics sometimes.

    what is low light capabilities of face detection in low light conditions?

    • @RedFrameTech
      @RedFrameTech 29 дней назад

      It gets less good as light decreases because face recognition relies on its camera, but I’d say it’s better overall than the performance of mirrorless cameras

    This is a very detailed review. I recently bought the Neewer CM28 ( same mic) and wondered why I couldn't access the safety track while using the mic on its own. The only thing that I don't like about this mic is that if I'm driving on a bumpy road while recording, even if I'm on the lowest volume setting, I'll get some distortion. Other than that, it's a very good value for money.

    • @RedFrameTech
      @RedFrameTech Месяц назад

      It’s definitely great value for money. The reason you can’t access safety track when just using the transmitter is because the transmitter can only record one mono channel (as basically all of these kinds of systems do). The split between the normal track and the safety track happens at the receiver’s end. That’s also why you can only use the safety track option when using only one transmitter.

    I got SonyFx30 for Christmas, and although I've made videos and edited them before on Davinci free version, I always filmed them with a phone or much older cameras, where the quality was poor anyway and it didn't disturb the outcome. Now, with the actual camera, all the settings and codecs freaked me out. I'm glad I found your video, you explained things well and although I probably will need some time to actually understand everything, your video has been a great help. Thank you!

    • @RedFrameTech
      @RedFrameTech Месяц назад

      BT2020 is a color space so I am not entirely sure what you mean 😅 But in general, either of these devices record whatever your camera is set to put out over HDMI in whichever colorspace. Recording codec can be selected on device. Both can record in ProRes and dnx. The main difference lies in RAW video support: Black Magic: BRAW Atomos: ProResRAW

    Hello Sebastian. Great video as always. I am a rookie on this audio world. I have a GH6 and I recently purchased a Sennheiser 600 MKE mic and also a Zoom H6 Essential. I would like to record from the Mic to the H6 and from the H6 to the camera. The objective is to have audio backup. What hardware do I need in order to do that? Thanks buddy!

    • @RedFrameTech
      @RedFrameTech Месяц назад

      Hi! You need to run a 3.5mm cable from the H6’s line-out to the microphone input of the GH6 and then set that mic input to ‘line’ in the menu. Then try to set the H6’s line-out level as high as possible and adjust input level on the GH6 accordingly. If the level on the GH6 keeps clipping, adjust the output level on H6. Btw, what you’re planning to do is a good way to record back-up audio! Hope that helps and thanks so much for watching!

      @@RedFrameTech can you explain? what do you mean by a wired connection? do you pair it via Bluetooth with the handle and connect the Lidar pro? (meaning no need of a usb c connection) I'm a bit confused.

    • @RedFrameTech
      @RedFrameTech Месяц назад

      So Focus Pro doesn’t need to be connected to a camera. It’s a standalone system that controls the focus ring of your lens. You can use whatever camera with interchangeable lenses that have a focus ring. A wired connection to a compatible camera only allows for some additional functionality like start and stop recording via the grip. A wired (or Bluetooth) connection is not required for the system to work. I hope that explains it

    Congratulations on purchasing the Gh7 and setting up your studio! The idea of the video is to compare the skin color of the Gh6 vs Gh7, if you turn the sharpness to 0, shoot in Vlog to rec 709, at iso 500 (both) and 2000 (both), and set the exposure to ELzone gray level on the face. They just say that the Gh6 has a more beautiful color, maybe they are just exaggerating, but it was interesting to watch!
