Excellent and essential information. I've been plugging my GH6 into the wall whenever possible. This is great stuff for when you can't plug into the wall. :-)
The idea of power consumption, on the move is an interesting one when our toys are so power hungry. I've also got quite a few NPF batteries and a similar NPF plate and they work well. However, when the situation happens when I don't actually need a Field Monitor, I like powering my kit with USB Powerbanks. That way I can have my Powerbank in a bag or pocket and have a cable running to my camera. The drawback is obvious. The cable could be pulled out of either the camera or Powerbank when filming. And I lose the option to record to an external SSD Drive, if I power my camera via the USB port. Horses for coarse's. I find that NPF batteries and USB Powerbank make great combos when used for different situations. My current Weapon of Choice for USB is a 250W beast that can throw out a whopping 140w to a single device. Its also great for charging NPF batteries when you are out in the field. The Powerbank, by Anker, is also great for recharging my Drone batteries while I'm out flying to the point that I can practically keep my Drone batteries charged before the Transmitter with screen, itself runs out of juice. Its an Anker Prime 27,650mAh and not exactly cheap but worth every penny.
I’ve tried using power banks in the way you describe, but I find it the usb c connection on the camera to be too vulnerable. I got distracted from filming because I was almost constantly making sure I wasn’t pulling the connection. But I do use power banks a lot to charge stuff. I have a smaller Anker and several other powerbanks. They’re great!
@@RedFrameTech My GH6 Smallrig cage has a HDMI and usb C lock mech on it. Also the camera won't work without a battery so if the cable fell out the power bank or camera then there would still be power. A Powerbank or NPF are great for astro when I charge my camera and use a lens warmer to stop dew getting on the lens
Thank you very much for putting this together. Your voice has an A.I. vibe to it.
An A.I vibe to my voice? Wow, never heard that one before 😂
@@RedFrameTech Hahaha. I was surprised too. I looked closely at the screen about 3 times.
Off-topic: That B-roll interview clip is especially nicely composed :)
