You made till the pear-end 👏😂 I’d love to have all my lights Zhiyun as well. They’re not cooperating on sponsoring the lighting setup for my new studio yet though 🤣
Really really interesting. I have a mate who is setting up a small RUclips studio. The space is probably 3m square. Could this light be used as a main light source? And if it was maybe 1.5m away from him how strong would you think the light would need to be to achieve proper exposure of his face? I like the look/design of this light because it looks so compact rather than lights with a massive diffuser on them. Or would you suggest something with a massive diffuser on the light source? I'm of the opinion of buy cheap and pay twice but if this light fits the bill for a small studio live streaming setup, then this could be a wise purchase.
A massive diffuser is such a pain in a very small studio space.. Wouldn’t recommend, though it gets you the softest light. This light however is definitely powerful enough for the situation you’re describing and can be used a main light source. It’s not going to be the softest light, because it’s a relatively small source (even with the diffuser). However, depending on the desired result it can be good enough. And if the light needs to be softer, you can always consider bouncing it off of something larger (white wall or a sheet) and this light is powerful enough for that as well. It has quickly become one of my favourite lights and looks and feels very durable. Worth the higher price tag, imo.
Bouncing light off of something does a lot. Or just a cheap white shower curtain in front of a light (at some distance) can make it a lot softer. If there’s enough space, a light with a 60cm soft box also works. For the longest time I’ve been using a GODOX SL60w with a 60cm soft box in my old tiny studio space. I’m not necessarily recommending the godox though, as its fans are quite loud.
@@RedFrameTech The Godox is good to know about with the soft box idea. Would the fan be noticeable for a livestream or even better picked up with a lav mic. Maybe this new light is a better solution. Cheers
@@frankinblackpool The Zhiyun light is the better solution. But if he goes for the Godox it would be a good idea to use a directional dynamic microphone (like the rode podmic or similar) or a shotgun mic boomed fairly close with one of its sides almost perpendicular to the light (the sides are least sensitive). A lav mic is (generally) omni directional and will therefore more likely pick up fan noise.
Smakelijk! i went for the lit-duo1 pre-order the moment i realized How far the Sekonic prices differ from the value a spectrometer brings to a "one man band"
@@RedFrameTech it looks promising to me and i hope i do not overestimate it. If you care, I'll let you know more when it arrives... or maybe they would send you one for review when it's done.
a lot of effects but what's the point, you can't do anything with the effects in the app, you have to do everything manually, you can't even turn on or change any effect from the app, ZY vega is some kind of joke because you can only change the color and brightness ;), it's definitely not a light for control music video or live streaming
Barndoors ! Glad you did a thing on this. Awesome video 💯🫶🔥!Thank You
Pretty nice pear! Looks like a really neat light! Totally agree about the app though, its really making me want to go all in on Zhiyun lights.

@@RedFrameTech That is really good to know.
What else would you suggest that could give soft light in such a small space please?
Cheers

Thanks 😄 Interesting alternative to the Sekonic!

Good point. I personally hardly ever use effects, but for people that do it’s definitely a downside. Otherwise I still think the app is nice
