Such an underrated and lesser known movie. I LOVE the plot, until the 3rd act where IMO it falls a bit flat. I wish it had remained a bit more science-y and didn't drop into a horror style movie.

This movie gave me nightmares for years as a kid.

I always tell people to watch this movie in order to understand my condition. The whole hand sanitizer thing was great, but I have to touch the bottle, so I have to clean the bottle. This can go on for awhile because it may not be clean enough. When I was a kid, I had this thing with the number 3, I could tell you about it but the counting would take forever. I do go though a lot of soap, I'm sure the soap makers are happy. Anyway, you learn to deal with it.

The odd color range, such as the blue grass, was used to replicate the colors in the two-color Technicolor process of the day. Most people are only familiar with films shot in the later three-color process such as "The Wizard of Oz" but for a while, blue grass was the height of color movies 😊

11:26 "Is that Chris Evans?" => I often wonder why you reactors rarely look up the movie you're gonna react to. I mean, avoiding spoilers is a good idea, but checking who directed and who acts in the movie isn't a risky move. Entertaining reaction, aside from that. :D Sunshine isn't a perfect movie, but it's visually gorgeous, the CGI are still top-notch, and John Murphy's music is legendary. But why that obsession with aliens...?! Why the need for aliens? Granted, the movie turns into a freakin' slasher in its third act, which is a bit too reminiscent of Event Horizon, but it kinda works. Bringing in aliens would have been silly. And... the movie is very, very INACCURATE scientifically. I mean, I called BS the first time I heard the size of their bomb, back in 2007, and it's not the only inaccuracy. Luckily, Sunshine isn't a documentary. It's a great movie on the idea of sacrifice. Its loneliness.

People who saw this and 28 Days Later have always known Cillian Murphy is amazing way before Oppenheimer or Peaky Blinders.

Major league isn't slapstick

"Days of Heaven" and "Looking for Mr. Goodbar" are 2 good Richard Geer movies. "Days of Heaven" has a 97% critic score on Rotten Tomatoes. Winger and Geer didn't get along.

It was on the East Coast, in an area where large sharks almost never frequent. That's why everyone is skeptical of a shark attack.

It isn't a comedy. You think he has been gray all of his life? He was 32 when it was released. When remarking about Zach's behavior remember it came from his father and being left alone in the Philippines while his dad was qt sea.

The really tragic thing is that there was no good treatment for OCD in Howard Hughes’ time. Think of how much more Hughes would have been able to accomplish, just in the aviation field, had he not been so terribly burdened by that disorder.

The gentleman from the US embassy who visits David at the hospital is Frank Oz. The voice of Bert & Fozzie Bear. And Miss Piggy. Good ear!

Those circular things at the beginning are mirror arrays used for harvesting solar power. There are 3 of them that you can easily see from I-15 in SoCal, about 5 miles SW of Primm at the Nevada border.

Don't look up what happened to the actor who plays the opposing coach. And go Giants even if they are sht now.

This is my favorite Scorsese movie; my second favorite, also starring Leonardo di Caprio, is Gangs of New York.

This movie is one of the best

On a “somewhat” funny note when I was younger I was fishing and got a hook through my hand! 😩😂. Though wasn’t nearly that big or serious. I did have to go to the ER but was fine…. BTW if you research this storm it did what very few storms do. It strengthened and kinda went the opposite direction they usually go. It strengthened VERY quickly. Sad story but I do like the movie! This was the movie that first made Spielberg a household name, along with John Williams. It was also the first summer blockbuster; prevailing wisdom until then had been that people don't want to go see movies in the summer, so major movies weren't released then. When Jaws broke all previous box office records, that changed. Closing credits were never very long before Star Wars, made two years after Jaws. And I suspect that what Brody has on his stomach is an appendicitis scar, which he knows won't bear comparison to what Quint and Hooper have.

The opening crawl of written narration fading into the background in the Star Wars movies is based on the similar openings of the Flash Gordon serial installments in the thirties and forties. Flash Gordon also inspired the Star Wars concepts of the interplanetary emperor, the city in the sky, and the forest world. The character of Ming the Merciless in the Flash Gordon comic strips was a shameless ripoff of the character of Dr. Fu Manchu in Sax Rohmer's novels, complete with beautiful, rebellious, amoral daughter.

I always felt the composer got the idea for the music from Goliath's gallop. It seems to match.

Great reaction. I've spent the first forty years of my life not giving that film a try, I've just corrected that mistake, and... that's a classic indeed. Gere and the sublime Debra Winger in this film are officially one of my favorite movie couples ever. Huge chemistry. And that ending is incredibly uplifting. Great directing by Taylor Hackford.

“This is gonna be hard on my little boy” has got to be one of the most soul crushing lines that I’ve ever heard in any movie imo🥺😣😖😨 it gives me chills every freaking time my dude! I even knew what their fates would be going into the movie ffs! I can remember that when I was watching this in the theater all I kept thinking was…for once, I’d rather they didn’t stick to the real story’s ending because HOLY SHIT it’s just such a horrifying and extremely heartbreaking ending… I mean like seriously tho…I cannot, off the top of my head remember ever leaving the theater feeling that damn depressed ffs!

This movie is TOTAL camp and takes itself as seriously. Some believe that it was meant to compete with Star Wars. It wasn't. While Star Wars did make this movie possible, it was also meant to parody it, as well as the serials that spawned it. Many of the uniforms and outfits are taken right from the Buster Crabbe "Flash Gordon" from 1936. Ming's most especially. It's damn near a piece for piece copy. While many say that this was meant to spawn more movies, it was actually supposed to spawn a TV series, much like the Buck Rogers movie did in 1979. It seems Buck was a bit luckier in their efforts. They at least got two seasons.

There is no such thing as "JJ Star Trek". There might be some movies called Star Trek ... but they are ABOMINATIONS and COPIES OF BETTER MOVIES.

The lab assistant was played by an actor with the delightful name of William Hootkins. He also played Porkins, or Red Six, the X-Wing pilot in STAR WARS. That's pretty neat.

The He Man toy line and the He Man cartoon show were launched at the same time. I think it was the same year they did the same thing with G.I. Joe- G.I. Joe had actually been around as an 11" action figure since at least the 60s- maybe even the 50s- but was re-invented as a series of 3 1/2" figures which also had a cartoon tie-in. Having a toy line and a cartoon series designed to promote it launched at the same time was a novel concept in 1983, but it was so successful, it became the model for every major toy line launched in the 80s.

I don't know canon well but I've watched in theaters the original releases of all the Star Wars movies and still believe that Palpatine planted those dreams in Anakin to create a self-fulfilling prophecy of Padme's death at the hands of Anakin. If Palpatine could cloud the Jedi's minds with the dark force, he certainly could have clouded Anakin with his greatest fear of losing his family. That is why in the end Anakin fulfilled the prophecy and destroyed the Emperor to stop Anakin from losing his son.

I don't think you blurred the picture or fooled around with the sound volume quite enough.

When this was released, it was received as a goofy comic book movie, of course. Now it's a cult film, still goofy, but a wonderful example of the "they don't make them like that any more" school. It's fun. Sam Jones did a spread in Playgirl magazine.
